Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
There are indeed many problems in the world and there are many threads on here to discuss them. This thread however began talking about the Paris attacks and then moved on to discuss the motivations behind the attack as well as the problem of Islamic extremism. Whenever it is brought up though you go off on one about how there are loads of problem everywhere, how there are Christian extremists nazis etc etc etc. Why is it so difficult to admit the problems here and discuss it without continually referring to other extremist groups and religions that no one has denied exists? -

You've been very dismissive considering you haven't even seen the survey - questioning the motives of Phillips and suggesting he has hidden agendas. Maybe best to actually read the survey and what it has to say before deciding all of this. One imagines you wouldn't be urging the same degree of caution had this survey agreed with your own opinions. The amount in the survey is broadly consistent with other surveys by the way. It's simply impractical to interview every Muslim as I'm sure you would agree. -
Can Southampton become a force in the premier league?

Based on our history, I would say it's fairly likely that we will be losing Mane and almost certain that Wanyama is going. 99% of things posted on here are opinion, it's called a forum... -

So you'd be equally dismissive of surveys had this one come to opposite conclusions? Didn't think so... -

I wonder if those dismissing this piece of work on here would be doing the same thing had the report reached the opposite conclusions? I doubt it somehow.. -

I can't believe people are taking my flippant remark regarding a misspelling seriously... -
I got a couple of ubers tonight. The drivers had come from Portsmouth and we're loving it. I got home safely and it saved me about £4 in total which is excellent value. Highly recommended and I'll be using them again.

Do you think a racist rapist only rapes someone they aren't racially prejudiced against? -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
The point is there is a disproportionately high number of convicted rapists who are Muslim. Why that is is up for debate but the problem is there, supported by your own statistics. -

This is what I mean. You write something idiotic, I flag it up and then you pretend that I didn't understand what you were talking about. There was nothing to misunderstand, it was just a stupid question. Again. -

Ask idiotic questions and you'll receive a barbed response. You get a lot of barbed responses from me. -

Well that's just down to definitions and we clearly aren't going to agree on that one because it depends what definition you use. -

No i didn't read the argument. I completely ignored the last few pages and decided to post about racism for no reason. -

It's ridiculous to say that no Muslims have had any positive impact on Britain. It's equally ridiculous to label clearly prejudiced remarks against muslims as racist. Sour Mash had made clear Islamaphobic remarks and many comments that I consider to be ill advised and demonstrates a lack of understanding regarding Muslims. Just call it what it is rather than trying to twist the definition of race or putting up articles claiming there is no such thing as race to try to brand someone a racist, it does the opposing argument no favours. -
Yeah mb there is a thread about it on the main board. Sad news.

How to manage austerity in a caring society
hypochondriac replied to badgerx16's topic in The Lounge
There will soon be a crisis with small businesses in this country. The government are hellbent on shrinking welfare and transferring the responsibility onto small businesses who they then demonise by accusing them of avarice. Schools and particularly nursery school have been hit terribly. Some schools have seen hundreds of thousands wiped from their funding due to the latest budget and have no option but to sack staff. Nurseries have been treated disgracefully but the government have succeeded in framing it as "free childcare" with Sam Giymah criticising the sector for failing to work with him (ha!) when they've seen a drop in their funding in the majority of cases whilst being asked to provide higher wages across the board, new pension contributions, unchanged business rates and they are no longer able to subsidise all of this because their ability to charge what they like has been effectively removed by the government forcing 30 hours through (double what was previously offered.) Labour's proposals are even worse, with even higher wage increases to be pulled out of thin air. The choice is very simple to my mind- remove the 30 "free" hours PR and allow nurseries the ability to charge enough so that they can afford to pay their staff and everything else or fund the system properly. I urge everyone to watch the video on here which explains it very well and maybe some people will understand better about why we will soon be facing a crisis with many nurseries likely to close in the near future: www.champagnenurseries.co.uk
