  1. Talk sport just laughed as they wished him luck, then said We shouldn't laugh it maybe true!
  2. http://thisisfutbol.com/2011/11/blogs/are-southampton-finally-getting-the-attention-they-deserve/2 two page article, all stuff we know but good read.
  3. doesn't jump out as a player as good as we currently have - let alone better.
  4. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2010-2011/custom-table still not as good as Cardiff were this time last year - and they didn't go up!
  5. think Mike should stop supporting saints and get a new hobby - maybe being a full-time cock?
  6. sometimes a good debate is needed sometimes "what a *****" is all that is needed! (Mike not OP)
  7. against teams beginning with "m" - doesn't look good
  8. serious head injuries, unfortunately happen fairly frequently when drunks fall on pavements. May have been low level assaults, pushing, ejection, etc - my guess is minor / justified contact and awkward fall.
  9. A strange, but not surprising OP. It is disappointing to go out at this stage of the cup but Adkins needs to be congratulated for his approach. He stuck with his commitment to youth for the cup - it would have been easy to suddenly change his mind about using young or fringe players when seeing the potential to progress to the later stages. He also has not allowed himself to be distracted from his priority - the league. It is likely we would have got through with Lambert, first choice CBs etc - but he was not tempted and kept his eye on the weekend. He openly said who he was playing. Younger players need experience and testing. It was the same for many clubs not just saints. Sometimes you have to look hard to find a moan...but some will always manage.
  10. palace feed http://www.london24.com/sport/championship/crystal-palace/crystal_palace_v_southampton_join_our_interactive_coverage_1_1108545 8.17 fair play to saints have packed their end.. but they have always been fairweather fans
  11. Big spending Gus next as he drops into bottom half tonight!?
  12. No surprise. Their owners seemed to want big name and to sign every player who agents were whoring around. Much prefer our owners approach. Delldays was in awe of them in the summer with their 'names' signings thinking them and WHU had top two sewn up! I was mocked when saying their signings were not better than their players! Hope they have unsettled period. Too early to worry about other teams - keep our home form as it is and we are up.

    Graham Murty

Not sure if op is just a kid which may explain reaction? Don't think Murty is on our payroll, and seems a decent bloke

  15. Next step in an excellent start. Winning at home and picking up odd points away will ease us into the premiership. We will finish this hard run of games with the Middlesbrough game - knowing even if we lose that no team will have more points than us going into November. November has 3 home games (against 7th, 10th, 12th) and two away games (against 21st and 24th) - would hope for at least 10 points from those and still top going into December.....

don't think he is on our payroll. Think you have that wrong.
  17. maybe being over-sensitive, but as Adkins changes team and formations around, often suprising other managers, I prefer all team news kept quiet as Adkins doesn't seem to like releasing them early.
  18. some had their heart set on a big name manager, rather than a good one. Then it becomes hard to admit you were wrong. take good manager over big name any day. imho already better manager than WGS.
  19. think there due to the recent pain there has been a real reluctance to realise how good we are and how well we are doing. I still look at the league table with pleasant surprise. Quite a few were not realistic in how good our players are, think it was dell days who thought I was mad to suggest we maybe above West Ham and Leicester signings were worse than our player. How many leicester players could get in out team? Forget the recent history we are on the up!
  20. Good post. would put Hoddle above the imho, over-rated wgs
  21. best to judge at the end of his reign! If he keeps improving us at this rate he will go down as a great, if it all goes wrong...! If he left now he would already be up there for serious consideration as best since LMc. Not been totally convinced with any manager since Nicholl other than Hoddle.
  22. http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=135707&start=960 liked this one; "Oh and Richard Chaplow looked twice the player of our 50K a week captain." and here from Darren Ferg reckons we are best side in division http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/sports-breakfast/blog/2011-10-19/ferguson-southampton-are-best-team-ive-seen-championship?
  23. find it funny how Brighton who spent big, seem to think Gus is working wonders on budget (CMS?) while anyone could do Nigel's job! good forum though.

  25. after many saying how comfortable they will find it one adds; I think we're in danger of respecting Southampton too much in this thread. Yes, they've had a promotion bounce (as did Brighton for a few games) and they've played well. They may do a Norwich and go straight up again. They may fall away once the euphoria of promotion wears off. Either way, we were playing two divisions higher than them just six months ago and we've got stronger since. We should have enough to beat them and there should be no way they should be capable of 'passing us off the park' or anything like it. Whatever happens, I back us to give a good account of ourselves tomorrow. Personally, I think we'll win 2-0 and give ourselves a real platform to push on from
