  1. Yet to deliver goal or assist??! What in all 181 minutes played! Steve Davis has 0 goal, 2 assists after a whole season starting in same role! Nothing like giving a player a chance!
  2. Surely you are joking? Player has been here for 4 games, looked good for most of that (although you are writing him off after a total of 181 minutes for a young player in a new country!). And some quotes from radio Solent... "my goal to stay here if at all possible," "The atmosphere at the club is really great because they haven't been in this situation in a long time." The Serbia international, whose side are currently fourth in the Premier League, continued: "I think we can reach the goals that we want at the end of the season. "I didn't expect such a great club and that's a good feeling." Saints host seventh-placed Liverpool on Sunday in a crucial game in the race to secure Champions League football, and Djuricic said it is the type of high-pressure match he relishes. "I like to play games under pressure with full stadiums and lots of attention. Playing against Liverpool is one of those games," he said. The match will have extra significance in Djuricic's homeland with two other Serbian players - Saints team-mate Dusan Tadic and Liverpool's Lazar Markovic - hoping to feature in Sunday's clash. "We have a very good national team," Djuricic added. For Serbian football it's very important to have players in the Premier League as I believe it is the best league in the world at the moment. "The quality is really high and I'm hoping more Serbian players will come over the next few years.

I don't want to get bogged down on this website's stats as not the best way to judge a player, and I am not sure what they are based on. It just seems a strange thing to choose to beat him up with, when he actually comes out well. Clearly the best guage is per 90 mins played, as cancels out issues of injury, short sub appearances etc. Also I ignored two players, Cork and Ramierez as their stats over small samples and left (due to bring behind JWP in the excellent manager's view!). Also you were comparing with others in our squad, they are not. Your stats show then; (to nearest no.) Mane 28 Tadic 19 Ward Prowse 15 Wanyama 13 Elia 10 Schneiderlin 9 Davis 2 Possession 2nd Overall; Mane 27 Tadic 24 Schneiderlin 23 JWP 18 Wanyama 18 Davis 11 So if you want to use this site to prove a player is underperforming then appears Davis is your man! If you look at other club's forums it seems JWP is highly rated ...there are numerous Man U fans wanting him. Find it confusing, many here were predicting relegation, but we have been one of the best sides in the country despite Tadic, Mane, Pelle, Long, JWP, Yoshida and Forster not being good enough??! Or perhaps there are quite a few on here who just don't understand football very well?

Or you could use your same stat page, but look at performance per 90 to get over point you raise about injuries... But that doesn't work for you as it puts him 3rd behind Mane and Tadic, with over double Steve Davis' rating. Think your link proved how well he has done lol! Possession, important stat...2nd to only Morgan. Overall rating... Ahead of Wanyama, Davis, Ellia, and Reid! Lads doing very well, thanks for link!

    Toby

He may go, but the club have not agreed a sale yet.

    Toby

Last season he was playing in the champions of Spain team, in CL final. We were tipped for relegation. He can here. His club negotiated the best fee they could. He has played 15 games. We are now one of top sides in England. I suggest we have moved forward more than he has....so why would a few suddenly be a huge amount more than agreed, why is it beyond us to keep him. He wants to play for Koeman. More likely he stays than goes IMHO.

    Toby

Interesting thread and some interesting points. I was remembering how impressed I was with Lovren last season, comparing to how some are talking about Toby. I think if people are honest there isn't much between how they both performed in first 15 games for us. Let's not pretend otherwise, Lovren was superb for his first 15 games. I would say if anything maybe more solid than Toby. Toby is more flexible and seems quicker, looks comfortable in midfield or RB whereas Lovren seemed very much a CB. Hard to compare stats but will anyway... We are defensively better this season so needs to be kept in context.we have had Forster all season. Lovren's first 15 last season and 15 games Yoshida and Toby have played most of game this season; Lovren W6, D6,L3 goals against 13 Toby W9, D2,L4, goals against 10 Yoshida W6, D3, L6 goals against 12. Seems good character, excellent player, but don't think he had stood out as much as some saying, maybe I'm missing it. Good defending often not noticed. (Just to be clear I'm not criticising him, wouldn't want Lovren back etc, just feel if you showed a lot of people his 15 games and Lovren's without the baggage you wouldn't find any /many more rating Toby as a lot better). This season we have best defence in league, in percentage of CB minutes Fonte 43% Toby 24% Yoshida 23% Gardos 10%
  8. Its good to see the Wanyama / Schneiderlin partnership getting back towards its best, I think their injuries and not being 100% hit us. Djuricic had a good game, although he goes to ground easily, he won freekicks most of the time - including about 4 or 5 in good positions. One of his runs was very special. He also has good vision and will do better as gets more game time. Played better than Davis or JWP have been recently and gives us needed cover for form. Thought Mane was very good, not just attacking but his work rate - with his speed he gets back and blocks. Feel for Pelle, needs a goal. Don't like some of the comments about his ability on here, if course he is off form but all the stuff about him not being up to standard forgets he was vital to our season so far.
  9. Is that Schneiderlin as definitely leaving as he was when you told us he was definitely leaving last summer? I think there is a good chance he will go but he may not. You said were a realist last summer, when stating he would go and that we would be worse this season than last. We have no idea which clubs will actually come up with a bid, a lot is random gossip or agent talk. The higher we finish the less clubs are automatic choices for players, we don't know what wages etc, there is good chance that most players would go if Man U , Man C or Chelsea make an offer, if for example we qualified for CL and Arsenal didn't the decision less obvious, would players now leave for Everton? Who knows who will leave but sure club will get decent replacements

    Fil ?

Pretty much agree, however would point out that I wouldn't be surprised if Mane is performing at the same or higher level than Costa and Suarez were when they were is age. Maybe wrong as not looked at their records bug don't remembering them being top players at 21/22. Also agree re Toby - although he is very good he does seem to have been elevated to a high level on here. How does his first 6 months compare with Lovren's? Probably not dissimilar.
  11. Total lack of ambition? Serious? 2010 7th league 1 2011 2nd league 1 2012 2nd championship 2013 14th premier 2014 8th premier league. This time last year, we were 9th, 17 points and much worse goal difference off CL place. This year we are currently 1 point, with better goal difference. So which club has shown the evidence of more amibition over last few years? Once again, fans who have had the signings they want are jumping to conclusions, did you not learn from the summer?
  12. It would add to my disappointment of conceding to see Lambert running up to the crowd , in his Liverpool kits joyously celebrating denting our CL chances. Think he should feel free to celebrate, I don't think players should start having lists of teams they don't celebrate against, however I can't share your desire to see him rub it in. Got a feeling I would get over it fairly quickly if I did see it tho
  13. ..how is this news? Surely it is the natural continuation of the numerous well informed threads I have read on here for a year or so? Well connected posters telling us how KL isn't interested, the club is for sale etc. The next stage (and one we are still in) was the painful "firesale". The club selling off all the good players / assets, replacing with cheap inferior quality ones and we see our hopes disappear. When last few saleable assets go (and I have read on here how we have even breached FA rules as have already sold Clyne and Schneiderlin) and we are as low as we can be (probably about 9th ) KL will take her money and go. So, we all knew this would happen.... (Apparently we may have second breach of rules as this is now the third time we have agreed to sell Schneiderlin whilst he continues to play for us)
  14. I wasn't aware of the change re FA cup runners up thanks. Not sure what you mean by other bit. So is it as simple (?!?) as (if work with best case scenario that both cup winners in European places).. Top four CL, next 3 EL? Then if Spurs / Liverpool win EL they go into CL as additional side, (if not in top 4) meaning 5 CL and 3 EL? If they win EL plus finish in top 4 (so qualifying twice for CL) does the last CL league go to 5th?
  15. Can someone give an up to date summary of how qualification could be earned this season? As I understand it... Top 3 CL Next into last CL qualifying round, if don't qualify revert to EL Winner of league cup -EL, however if winner already qualified place reverts to league. FA cup winner EL, if already qualified then runner up gets EL place, if they have already qualified then reverts to league. Winner of EL earns bonus place for CL. Basically 4 (max 5 in English team wins EL) in CL. 3 places for EL, plus one for fair play possible. So, have I got this right, if our fa and league cup places revert to league, and say Spurs win EL it could look like this; 1 CL 2 CL 3 CL 4 Spurs win EL so CL 5 CL last qualifying round 6 EL 7 EL 8 EL Is that right as pretty much best case? Clearly would need more players but so many variables as to who will stay. Although we can guess who will go, some sound likely to leave, such as Morgan, but think its likely that nobody , including Morgan know yet. Even without geographic or family preferences, which clubs will actually want him enough to bid the right money, who will be attractive to him, are clubs going forward or backward, who manager is etc Every club loses players they want to keep, higher we finish, the more attractive we are in comparison to other clubs, same with European qualification. The progress and running of the club should give us some cause for optimism. The other positive of qualification, is it prevents a competitor qualifying. For example, our comparative finances could gain on Spurs or Everton.
  16. Is it just league? If so spurs; Beat Chelsea 5-3 home Lost away palace 2-1 Beat Sunderland home 2-1 Beat wba 3-0 away Ours victories against arsenal, Newcastle, man u, 5 scored, 1 conceded
  17. Think that's a good post and sums up why it's hard to judge for us. If we were fans of Liverpool or any other club below us we would look at saints form, players coming back from injury, fact that at Christmas when fixtures were hard and our squad would be found out - but we did the best in the league... And seeing us in 3rd this late..and would think 3rd quite likely. But just doesn't seem right for us to predict that. But equally having spent so long in top 4, even a finish of 5th or 6th may seem an anticlimax. If we do drop down, finish 6th, 7th or 8th, I wonder how much those posters who predicted relegation battle and said our squad is weak, will moan?

    Mane

    Thank you

    Mane

I disagree. The criticism was not justified. You only need to read this thread back, worst player since Dia, saying what a joke the fee was etc It is another example of people showing lack of knowledge / inability to judge a player / need to slag our players off. I agree he had games when things didn't go well but comments here were nowhere near justified. His ability was already clear. I'm not convinced he had 5 awful games either, which? Maybe 2 or 3?

    Tonny Vilhena

I'm sure the player was so insulted that he had his passport in hand hoping it was accepted. If we want him enough to increase offer I'm sure player and club will swallow their pride and negotiate. A low offer is business. Perhaps publicising it is only insulting thing
  22. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/37751 Good summary
  23. I'm holding back a bit on Toby as seem to remember being very impressed by our new CB last season! If its who is most consistent , or impressive for us you could argue most of names listed above. Good test maybe how many prem sides could use each player in their first 11. Surely Schneiderlin would have a good chance of featuring in all sides? Reckon all back 5 and Wanyama would feature in most.
  24. Just played around with some results (not predictions!) but looking if results go with my guess of bookies favorites result for each tie (my guesses) including us, just to see how many points maybe needed. I have gone with the following (used 1-0 scores for wins, 0-0 for draws); Arsenal Arsenal v Villa 3 Spurs v Arsenal 1 Arsenal v Lei 3 palace v arsenal 3 arsenal v everton 3 qpr v arsenal 3 arsenal v whu 3 newcastle v arsenal 3 arsenal v liverpool 3 arsenal v burnley 3 arsenal v sun 3 arsenal v chelsea 0 hull v arsenal 3 arsenal v swansea 3 man u v arsenal 0 arsenal v wba 3 Spurs WBA v spurs 3 Spurs v Arsenal 1 Liverpool v Spurs 1 spurs v whu 3 qpr v spurs 3 spurs v swansea 3 man u v spurs 0 spurs v leicester 3 burnley v spurs 3 spurs v villa 3 spurs v newcastle 3 saints v spurs 1 spurs v man c 0 stoke v spurs 3 spurs v hull 3 everton v spurs 3 Man U Man U v Lei 3 WHU v Man U 3 swansea v man u 3 man u v sunderland 3 newcastle v man u 3 man u v spurs 3 liverpool v man u 1 man u v villa 3 man u v man c 1 everton v man u 3 man u v wba 3 palace v man u 3 man u v arsenal 3 hull v man u 3 Liverpool Liverpool v West Ham 3 Everton v Liverpool 1 Liverpool v Spurs 1 saints v liverpool 1 liverpool v man c 0 liverpool v burnley 3 swansea v liverpool 3 liverpool v man u 1 arsenal v liverpool 0 liverpool v newcastle 3 liverpool v hull 3 wba v liver 3 liverpool v qpr 3 chelsea v liverpool 0 liverpool v qpr 3 stoke v liverpool 3 Saints Saints v Swansea 3 QPR v saints 3 Saints v whu 3 saints v liverpool 1 wba v saints 3 saints v palace 3 chelsea v saints 0 saints v burnley 3 everton v saints 0 saints v hull 3 stoke v sfc 1 saints v spurs 1 sun v sfc 3 lei v sfc 3 saints v villa 3 man c v sfc 0 West Ham Liverpool v WHU 0 WHU v Man U 0 saints v whu 0 spurs v whu 0 whu v palace 3 whu v chelsea 3 arsenal v whu 0 whu v sunderland 3 lei v whu 3 whu v stoke 3 man c v whu 0 qpr v whu 3 whu v burnley 3 villa v whu 3 whu v everton 3 newcastle v whu 3 would give; chelsea 100 man c 90 man u 81 arsenal 79 saints 75 spurs 73 liverpool 66 west ham 63 clearly more points will be dropped, and quite a few games between the top 4 rivals. Can't get my head around us being that consistent, but taken on their own don't think our results look impossible. Think some of Arsenal and Man U's points look harder. we certainly have a decent chance!!
  25. Think you have pretty much answered your own question.. He is going because he is , what 26?, not sure and proven that he can do a job starting in the prem. However he is not good enough to start for us when fit, and (I appreciate this divides opinions) he may not even be the next in line, personally think Reed and JWP are considerably younger but already offer more....Reed more tenacious , JWP more likely to create. You could say he is too much of a jack of all trades. Early in the season there were a couple of games when Koeman didn't play both Wanyama and MS, and Cork still didn't play. I don't see he is likely to improve hugely at his age, but who knows. Whereas Reed and JWP are still babies and have potential to improve. He is a good player but not a top 6 level. He is ideal to have in the squad for cup and hopefully European games - but didn't want that role. This is to his credit - don't players get criticised for leaving to sit on the bench at big clubs? He has left to avoid that. Who would be happy with that role, and with potential to improve and make a difference when needed? A young proven player. If Morgan goes I would hope we would be more ambitious than to move Cork to the main midfielder.
