Football Manager 2009 - Southampton Save Game Thread
Jimmy_D replied to Matthew Le God's topic in Computer Games
My career game has just seen Eastleigh survive their first season in the Prem, despite being predicted 20th. (odds of 1000-1 for the title ) I'm about 20-21 seasons in ('tis 2030). Newcastle were leading the Prem most of the season but faded at the end and were overtaken by tottenham and Man City.... Man U and Liverpool have been crippled by their debt and are perennial relegation candidates. (Man U only coming above me on goal difference lol) highlights so far... finally getting to the prem, and way back in my 200th game in charge... FA Trophy Final I've had no trophies so far, I've just been promoted from 2nd place up from BSP, this will be my last chance for a while at honours. Eastleigh are 3-0 down at half time. I inspire them with team talk and well timed subs to come back and eventually in injury time score an equaliser. We then hold on for penalties and win 5-4 -

Pompey must be really desperate to bring a keeper with a dodgy wrist out of retirement, even if it IS Niemi. Doubtful he'll end up having to play, and doubt he'll still be as good as he was unfortunately, if he does end up having to play. Let the Skates pay his pension for him I say ^^

Steve Redgrave imo. A bloke who's diabetic dominates an endurance event at the Olympics for two decades? Incredible.
-
So, Redknapp gets us relegated and sends us on a downward spiral that ultimately results in the end of the Lowe regime and us having the 4/5th richest owner in England... He then goes back to Pompey, massively overspends, admittedly wins them an FA Cup, but leaves them in such a state that they are seriously worried about whether their club has a future at all... (Afterwards, he comes back because he knows the crappy state they're in, after all he helped create it, and picks off their best players for next to nothing) I want to keep on hating Redknapp, but I'm finding it difficult now, help!
-
and (whisper it quietly) I daresay a fair few Pompey fans as well lol.... We did well! Won it easily in the end.
-
WOO!
-
just a question of whether it's these two at the crease when we win now... what with Saints winning today as well...
-
that's the 200 up...
-
nearly there...
-
Another point to look at is what's happened with Chelsea and Man City. They've openly stated they're willing to spend cash and everyone's price has gone up as a result. If other clubs think we've got a chairman that isn't willing to spend much money, we're less likely to be in the same boat... It makes sense for the club to have this face to the public (including us!) whether we're going to end up spending money or not.

I'm in!

Possibly contact Solent Uni? They do some stuff for Saints anyway...
-
Reckon Saints are up for that award at the moment! A team in league one, on -10 points, and hours away from going out of existence, to being richer than Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal? Even if their takeover does go through, doesn't look like they'll match that...
-
wonder what odds you can get at the moment for Pompey ending up on negative points next season...
-
Ship Forecast out on loan? I see what you did there... Bart has fallen a long way from being the hero of the Polish youth sqaud... Needs something to get him back to that standard, not sure he can find whatever that is here tho
-
hm, didn't Pinnacle also complete Due Dillegence?

Fry - Takeover is almost complete. Funds being transferred.

Haha, a massively wealthy club that starts in league 1 on -10? Saints could end up being one of the most popular teams to play as on the next Football Manager... -
The despair I was ok with... It's all this bloody hope I can't stand!
-
Hearing 'The Manchester United players aren't even bothering to celebrate' after Beckham scored against us, and 'The party isn't over for Saints' on Radio Solent as we became the first (and so far only) club to ever put six past Manchester United in one match. Ostenstad did score a hat trick Evo, but the last one was later taken away by the dubious goals committee because it was deflected in, despite the fact it was clearly going in anyway :/

Y'know, since his one and only england goal they mention came while he was playing for us, as well as him spending most of his career here, you'd think we'd at least get a passing mention... Good article apart from that though

We can all dream ^^ Le Tissier backed by several billionaires at the helm, Strachan as manager, and the FL on appeal decides we won't be deducted 10 points next season ^^
