  1. Im sorry but you cant see that not a single one of the players we signed walk straight into the starting line up without any arguments. OK then.
  2. That's more of an issue with Ralph than it is with Che id suggest. Its been clear since Ings left Che is the most important striker we have, his movement, ability to hold the ball up and the layoffs and through balls is what brings other players into play and makes us a better team. He was criminally underused last season for no sensible reason that i can see. Just one of the many reasons why Ralph shouldn't be at our club anymore. All the clamour to give him a transfer window where he can set his mark on the team without restrictions, well the season starts next week and where are we. Dont get me wrong i like the transfer business we have done, it looks like great forward planning and we have got some impressive youngsters come in and we can be rightly excited about them but how many are cast iron starters right now, id suggest not one. Aribo will get a lot of game time but will probably be rotated. ABK likely to be the same. We have fundamentally failed to change the squad in a way that fixes the glaring problems that the team has for the start of the season. FFS he looks like going to try and play Djenepo at left wing back again, seriously what is wrong with this man.
  3. Ive said it before and ill say it again, allow five subs on the provision that 2 have to be under that age of 18/20 and have played no more than 5 first team games before the start of the season. Give you players a real chance in the top leagues and stop teams just bring on multiple +50million just because they can.
  4. He did pay for the service but after a less than enthusiastic start she is now sitting on the bed next to him watching him blow his own trumpet! (all in the name of humour, i don't even know if trousers has the required equipment 🙂 )

    Referees

I thought the double jeopardy rule only got over ruled in the case of violent conduct personally and dont see any reason why that wouldnt be the case anyway
  6. Whilst ill agree a lot of our attacking was 'frustrating' last season a quick look at the league 8 teams scored less than us with another also scoring 47. Scoring goals was not a huge problem last season especially when you consider we were conceding so many meaning we cant be scoring at the same time. Replace one of Redmond or Djenepo and sort out the defence and the picture looks a lot better. In respect of Minamino, as others have said, there is certainly a player there, maybe fits us maybe he doesn't but i wouldnt want to use a huge amount of our budget to find out .
  7. Ill respect the gesture more when players are allowed to do what they want and not feel compelled to take the knee when they don't believe in it. Ill go out on a limb and say there is no way in hell that only the handful of players that have publicly stopped taking the knee pre game are the ones that believe it is an empty gesture, a significant amount are doing it because the are compelled too or are concerned by the 'cancel culture' epidemic.
  8. God your ignorant aren't you. Who do you think will pay for it in the championship, league 1, probably struggle every game in the Premier league.
  9. Out of interest did you ask him anything about how he perceived this type of business model working with the very real possibility that Southampton Football Club doesnt exist in the premier league?
  10. Can you think of anything that was different playing at home last season compared to others and in turn what it is likely to be next season compared to last?
  11. Thats funny, i remember seeing him take 5 attempts before he managed to pass to a Saints player and dont remember he beating a player 1 on 1 all game.
  12. Dont tell danny Ings about the site though ;-)
  13. I wont argue that our that the atmosphere at home is very poor, has been for many many years and not so much to do with the rubbish we have put up with for the last 3/4 years. Does that have or should it have any effect on the teams performance, NOT ONE BIT. These people are massively overpaid professionals and should be embarrassed to even consider blaming, even to just themselves, supporters for our home form. I will however argue about the dribble in saying 'GET IT FORWARD TYPE'. I cant tell you as a ST holder sitting very close to the saint dugout Ralph hears every word shouted at him. I can tell you for a fact nobody has shouted to 'lump it long'. I can tell you for a fact he has been told that we should stop the pointless passing sideways at the back because a - our players are too slow in there passing, b - too slow in there footwork, c - too week in there mentality meaning that any form of pressing from a team induces catastrophic mistakes normally resulting in conceding. I can also tell you that what has been suggested was for the team to raise the tempo of there forward play meaning more movement from players, passing balls with pace expecting players to be able to control the ball and to control the ball so they can move the play forward and not towards our goal which our players have a problem defending. Basically to stop this slow, possession based play. Now i dont know about you but i would suggest that almost all of those points were implemented into our play after the back to back Man City losses and coincided with the amazing play and results we saw in the back end of the year and new year. I am not for 1 claiming were are responsible for the upturn in form, all of these things were obvious to see but to suggested fans were just saying to 'LUMP IT FORWARD' is plain and simply wrong. Back to the original post , home fans sheet - yes, does it matter - no
  14. Jaw lol
  15. Big difference today was we didn't concede 2 more goals today because our heads went down. We took our eyes off the ball a bit yes and wolves made us pay but that's what happens when we have fundamentally good players when they play close to their potential but have a very big mistake in them when they aren't. Today wasn't a Leicester, today was one of those days that can happen to anybody. That's not to say we won't slip back into old habits, it's clear we have a bit of a glass jar but certainly nothing to be slitting our wrists over from the game today.
  16. Just to put this thread into perspective, Shane long is the 35th highest Premier League goalscorer of the last decade https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11894783/top-100-premier-league-goalscorers-this-decade-revealed
  17. it now appears to me i shouldn't have used the term ' he's' as i also have no basis for making this generalisation and i apologise for any offence caused.
  18. That would probably be because he's one of the 'snowflake' generation that is probably the reason a group like that being discussed came to be in the first place. (I also have no proof the poster is a 'snowflake' either)
  19. I havent read all of this thread(maybe i should :-) ) but i do want to respond to a couple of things ive seen in the OP and other parts. 1 - i dont believe it is obvious that the officials are not corrupt, by the very nature of the fact they spend not time thing when giving things for top 6 teams and never against them suggests the their decision is premeditated to allow things and not allow things in favour of the top 6 teams. 2 - The referees in the PL are not good, in fact the number that can be counted as component is very few backed up by the lack of english referees being used in top class international matches and the CL and Europa League. 3 - Referees are not accountable, they are the very definition of not accountable, never do you see a referee brought out in any sense to justify their performance, they are basically self regulated and you only ever see evidence that somebody has been punished in the highest of profile cases. Take a look at the way referees are treated in other sports and the reasons they are treated this way, in many cases the have mic's attached and explain the decision making throughout the game and the players in turn respect them for it and the way they treat the players. Football needs to take a long hard look at itself and stop thinking it is the pinnacle of everything in sport, the whole game is possibly correct beyond repair (yes that does make me a mug for still loving the game)
  20. He is certainly not embarrassing himself on the pitch and its probably doing his development a great deal of good but overall he isnt yet ready to be a regular starter. He is just too raw and that is no fault of his own and he certainly doesnt deserve any form of criticism he just seems to play with a mixture of playing too safe and lacking confidence to just let himself play to then going into a challenge like a headless chicken :-) One for the future but i would say if there is a weakness to our game in the last month or 2 it is that we have 2 wing backs that either dont suit our new style of play or are at least now not up to the required standard.
  21. I fully agree that the VAR referee should not be able to review anything without a firm instruction from pitchside, with that in mind i have also always thought that there should also be the opportunity for managers to make limited appeals , with success meaning an appeal is retained, using all appeals in a game meaning a punishment for the next, maybe less appeals or even touchline ban.
  22. Not quite the point, the general feeling was that if MH needs to go we didnt want Reed to be the one to replace him. I dont think most will think this will have a positive change to the on the field problems just have more positivity in that they could be resolved now moving forward with somebody else in charge of the football side.
  23. There are some people writing some very opinionated long posts for this one lately, i cant be bothered so i simply put this I LITERALLY FELL A SLEEP WATCHING PUELS TEAM AT HOME
  24. Another move we can all surelly support. A great addition when we came up and has been great for us but maybe we have seen the signs that he wont be a regular for us anymore and would be nice to part on good terms.
  25. completely wrong for this club, our supporters struggle enough to sing at home, how the plums do they think our crowd is going to be able to sing a song the incorparates this name!
