  1. Sorry but he doesn't do it for me. His post match press conferences are nearly as bizarre and fantastical as Jones' I also don't think Leeds played any different style than what we're used to and they had the same problem as us in creating opportunities but not scoring. A real absence of imagination or ambition in such an appointment
  2. Breaking the matches up into groups; Firstly the games against the 'top seven', Chelsea - A, Man Utd - A, Spurs - H, Man C -H, Arsenal -A, Newcastle - A, L'pool - H, I think we need an average of a point a game, let's say 2 wins and a draw Then the other away games Leeds , West Ham , Forest, Brighton. I think we need 2 wins from these . Lastly the other home games Leicester, Brentford, Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham. Frighteningly I think we would need 3 wins and a draw So that's 7+6+10 =23 points to get to 38 and a fighting chance Likelihood of that actually happening, at the moment, minimal to nil, with an experienced premier league quality manager, pretty slight, but ................
  3. I and my (handful) of Saints fan mates from Nottingham Uni were there as well. We went by train and who did we see getting off the train with us at Leicester? None other than Brian Clough and Peter Taylor.
  4. Actually it's 53 points if you round up. So not good enough even for 7th but quite possibly top 10 going on recent years.
  5. I knew what it would be like so tuned in as late as possible and switched off at the final whistle. Sadly couldn't do much about the content during the match or the site of Ginola cuddling the new owners! Still like Ally McCoist though.
  6. LOL always getting my decades wrong 🙃
  7. 1989 we got to the LC Final and teh FA Cup QF's IIRC
  8. Shame he did a dreadful dive in the first half then, trying to buy a penalty when he should have been trying to score/make a chance
  9. Not sure where you got that idea from Nothing smug about Nathan Jones' press conference. Perhaps you mistook the happiness and relief from picking up 3 points for the first time in months.
  10. Well I'm sure he won't be bothered about the FA Cup, so hopefully their reserves can show him why they're not in the team
  11. As did mine, I was surprised to say the least
  12. Watched the Presser (Thanks for the link Crab). Very impressed with the honest and straightforward approach. Let's follow up this positivity with 3 points against Villa
  13. Reading your post I realised I've been going to home games for about 56 years myself, although only going away for about 48 I'm going tonight, expecting the worst , hoping for a minor miracle or at least a spirited (if ultimately unsuccessful) performance 🤞
  14. It's a really important game, because not only are Forest one of the (relatively few) teams we can realistically finish above at the end of the season but also because the improved performance from yesterday needs to be followed up with some actual points before we do look like we're adrift. BTW I think a draw would be disappointing but not disastrous. The QPR game mentioned above was an Autumn game, a more relevant game was the one home to Brighton in January 18, we were in in the relegation zone and battled to a 1-1 draw against one of our main relegation rivals. As I was leaving I heard more than 1 person say, "that's it we're surely relegated". If the same thing happens on Wednesday people would be wrong to think that again, nothing will be decided on Wednesday but we do need to show we're up for the fight and start picking up points sooner rather than later.
  15. 19/25 for me as well. Enjoyed the quiz, thanks quiz setters
  16. I think jayrivers has got it just about spot on
  17. Loved his attitude, particularly up to that fateful day at Aston Villa in March. Real shame as I was really loving the team's efforts at the time, Spurs and Man U away, WHU in the cup etc etc. Definitely felt he really cared and generally had a very good relationship with the fans. I'll certainly miss him and give him a good cheer if/when he comes back for a visit. I'll be delighted if I have such a generally positive view of the next manager.
  18. If you read the piece on Dan Burn he thinks Spurs played in Europe in midweek! He seems to have completely missed there was a round of domestic games in misweek and everyoen (except man City) was playing their third game in a week. The bloke is a clown who should be confined to the retirement home. Bring back Lawro
  19. Agreed I'd be fuming if we had lost 2-0 like that but I don't think you can have it both ways. I don't agree with the penalty as his arms were in a totally natural position for trying to stop the cross. However if you use the 'accidental handball' argument then you have to accept that the first goal should stand. There were several heads touching the ball, including one from Bournemouth before the ball eventually goes in.
  20. Think you need to add Villa to that list and I rule out Fulham just yet.
  21. 5 points would be above my expectations from the next 4. We are playing 3 of the top 7 plus a team currently top half. 2 draws (with decent performances) would be ok. A win and a draw would represent a good return given our recent form and very limited firepower
  22. Brighton looked toothless, probably even worse than us. Forest were poor. Forest will be bottom 3 (irrespective of our position) without significant improvement and Brighton will be back to being bottom half unless the new manager finds a way to make them more effective
  23. Definitely like his attitude and determination. I was not that unhappy to see him in and around the team, as long as not at right back! Good luck at Bournemouth Jack
  24. Very sad to see him go , one of the special players. Wishing him all the best at Girona
