So, MOTD say we played well and the fans say we were ****e...
Eric The Red replied to swannymere's topic in The Saints
We did pretty well first half and were more than a little un lucky to be behind at half time. After that we just got worse as it went on and, this is where the moaners are right, the substitutions (particularly the last one) really didn't help. Everton's defence played well but if we have any pretentions to being a really top team we can't let Howard get away without making a save in the second half -
Could only get to six myself (bad me) but of course one of them is 'current'

Top top post, now we know what Luis Suarez was trying to do to Ivanovic

Just back from the game and this is my wife's take on our current problems I'd like to make an appeal on behalf of one of our most rare and threatened species; The Southampton Goal Once numerous this attractive creature has been seen only rarely during the last few weeks. Only a few months ago 8 of these were spotted in one afternoon but lately for reasons we don't quite understand yet the numbers of Southampton Goals have fallen drastically leading some to believe they are on the edge of extinction. For that reasons we are appealing to fellow football teams to Donate Now! We will accept any misplaced back passes, dodgy penalties shocking deflections goalkeeping howlers or own goals. Please give generously and give soon before it is too late for the Southampton Goal to make it to the continent next season.

Hooiveld to return and then head to Millwall?
Eric The Red replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
No hatred towards Jos from me. Great asset when we needed it. Will always be one of my favourites from the Championship promotion campaign BUT sadly not up to being a premier league regular. -
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because we were so good?

Trying to be realistic 6th with 67 points letting my heart rule my head 3rd on 75

Also chipped in with a donation. A very good cause and a top man doing it.

God was it 20 years ago? Now I feel really old but very happy as I was there back then and at Upton Park today

LOL Only 2 more relegation places to be decided then

Agree 100% with this Pat. Lallana was a very lucky boy to learn his trade at SFC. I am afraid that in the big bad world he will find life a lot tougher! Lif goes on and our 'all new' team - whatever it ends up looking like - but the events this summer will make me even more cynical and disinterested in the hype. It almost makes me want to be back in the lower divisions where at least the bulls*** factor is lower and the games are just as much fun.
-
If I was a Liverpool fan I would be very confused, unless he is seen as a makeweight in a deal for lallana. Although I admit to as much 'love' for Rickie as the next Saints fan I see no logic in the deal for the scousers. I can't see him starting unless they have injuries. He will only take a small portion of their free kicks and penalties and he simply hasn't the pace to work well in their attack. No day seems to go by without Liverpool telling the world they have bid for some player or another. Is it me or do they seem like a club who are going to end up with a random collection of players they won't know what to do with?

Reasons for Adam Lallana not to go to Liverpool
Eric The Red replied to SaintPete's topic in The Saints
The main reason Adam is that you won't be more than a bit part player in Rodgers' attacking system vying for a place with Coutinho if/when he decides he can do without one of his ball winning midfield players. Do you really want to go from first name on the teamsheet to second name on the subs list? -
Sissoko being on the list blows out the comments about needing to play for a 'Big 4' club out of the water. It seems to me Deschamps has his favourites and Morgan isn't one of them, end of Personally I'm delighted, less games, more recovery time and less likely to be seen as a top buy for money bags clubs like PSG

The real reason that we sacrificed the cups...
Eric The Red replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
I was at the game yesterday, was not particularly disappointed by the side (though I would have preferred Jose to Jos) but like everyone really disappointed by the performance. However as some others have pointed out we still did enough to get a replay and we were definitely trying. I was very upset to go out of the cup yesterday but just as upset today reading the utter c*** posted on here by the bedwetters and the wums and by the lazy comments by ex pros and no mark ITV voice over commentators about how our 6 changes meant we were 'disrespecting' the FA Cup whereas Sunderland (having had no game midweek) were not by making their 9! I agree we have blown our best chance for ages for a great cup run but I really think that the main reason is the impact of our midweek trip to Hull (and Rickie's glaring miss) -
Well done Fulham. I think they deserved it for working their socks off over the full 95 minutes. I would be delighted if they managed to stay up - and even more happy if we ended up sneaking past MU!
-
I was there in 81, Kop End with my Liverpool supporting mate - I managed a 'yep' as the ball hit the net and I was in the away end in 03. But I've also seen us lose (in the cup in 90) and draw in the late 70's. I think it was Phil Boyer for us to go 1 up and then hanging on for a point as we got battered in the second half
-
Thanks Chappers and good luck with your new club (when you get one) I thought he always gave 100% , seemed to be a really nice guy who was someone you would want as part of your team. Sadly not quite up to PL standard week in week out but we know he can do well in the championship.

I had the dubious pleasure of seeing his Saints debut at Barnsley. I thought his performance was of Ali Dia proportions and (iirc) he was incredibly lucky to stay on the pitch. Somehow we won the game but it was one of the last highspots in a season of abject failure which was typified by the acquisition of Mr Molyneux.

Just looked up the odds and it appears that Stoke are 500-1 with Bet 365. I know they are nearly safe but were so bad tonight 0 points from their last 2 games must be on the cards, worth a bet?
-
I don't disagree with the sendings off but he never had control of the game at any stage was inconsistent and just seemed to forget what he was doing for the double sending off. He first of all indicates a foul to us then sends off Ramirez runs around and sends off the WBA player and then gives them a free kick in a totally different part of the pitch to the first incident! I thought he was totally out of his depth and that it should have been pretty to obvious to anyone by half time that he shouldn't be refereeing in the Prem.
-
Good read as always Billy and now we only need 5 points for safety
-
The idiot on Facebook just shows how delusional they still are. The club will be majority owned by a bunch of not very rich businessmen. If they try to spend their way out they will get early success and then the money will run out and it will be begging bowls and threats of administration all over again. If they try to run it properly the 'natives' will quickly get restless and then they'll be dreaming of getting 10k crowds and getting in the draw for the FA Cup 3rd round on the off chance the can play us again.

Brilliant , spot on with your comments and made me laugh
