He's had a dig at McMenemy and Crouch on SSN - indirectly that is by referring to previous Chairmen 'and even previous Managers' bickering with the current regime. He also stated is contract only runs to the end of the season. Let's hope this is not one gamble too far but having no one alongside him from the Board at todays press conference was all too reminiscent of Wigley in the mobile office announcing his position - whatever that was!

Indeed JP's grasp of the English language was unusually poor and I believe led to some of the discontent through poor communication. The cynic in me says that Wotte was always waiting in the wings and it was only going to be a matter of time before he got his opportunity. I'll be interested to see if we have a change of formation and personnel for Tuesday.....

That would be my understanding as well.

This is post #6 so I'm afraid this thread has to stop now, sorry. PS wasn't there a thread floating about ref a Hungarian consortium?
-
Yes that's a fair comment and my comment was not appropriate to you - apologies. It does get a little tiresome when the mantra regarding his alledged inability to work with youngsters is muted as a primary reason for his non-appointment. It's been proven to be a complete falsehood but doesn't stop some repeating it. The position the team was in should also be considered when referring to Pearson's performance but again it's all too convenient to ignore that. I too wasn't overly enamered by his appointment but seeing the structure, confidence and teamwork he introduced after the baffling time of Burley's latterly tenure was very refreshing. He has showed at Leicester that it was no fluke.

What time's the press conference today??

It's Friday. -
He was involved with the England U21 set-up including a spell as the Manager so I guess the FA thought he had the appropriate skills to coach younger players. Sorry if this doesn't fit in with your agenda.

Some of the absolute drivel written in this thread from the pro-Lowe camp is quite beyond comprehension but there you go. Back to the original post...until such times as Crouch is in a position to go forward with the club under his juristiction then 'lining up' a new manager is a pretty worthless project I would have thought.
-
The press love him as well as he's always good for a few quotes.....albeit the same rubbish.......Plus his limited vocabulary of famous sayings: -the squad is weak, I'm doing the best I can with what I've got -he's triffic, gives a million percent - blah blah blah ZZZZZZZZZ

Not read all 4 pages but on the basis this rumour has some mileage then it might go some way to explaining Lowe's lack of urgency concerning JP's position. In other words what's the point of change. Let's wait and see though.....
-
The only resigning going on seems to be the Club resigning itself to League 1. There doesn't appear to be even the slightest hint that JP can turn things around.
-
You can be fairly sure that those investment organisations holding our purse strings would underwrite the cost of compensating / replacing Jan if (and of course there is no certainty) it would mean CCC survival. This would be an insignificant 'cost' versus the impact of relegation to League 1.
-
All pretty meaningless unless the context of their time at the helm and all associated conditions are considered.
-
One hell of a lot less than the consequences of relegation.

In general the lack of communication coming from either Wilde or Lowe in recent weeks has been deafening. I appreciate they are damned if they speak and damned if they don't but at this most critical moment in Southampton's history you'd think they would want to keep the fanbase informed of things. Yes we had the farce of the AGM but very little since then. Watching South Today tonight with their coverage of the events of the weekend they stated that they'd asked Lowe, Wilde and Portvleit for an interview and all declined / not available. They also stated no official from the club was prepared to issue a comment / statement. SFC are just asking for more trouble if they're not going to have the media on their side.

What a load of rubbish. Is it that convenient to forget the state of the club / team that NP inherited. He had to stop the negative momentum that was in place before being able to turn things around. As for Dowie, well his CV doesn't stand up to a great deal of scrutiny but in saying that I'm sure he's a better option than we have right now.

According to the NOTW (yes, yes, I know!) Boothroyd will be appointed Norwich manager this week..
-
Is he going to Man City?
-
Sounds like he was quite annoyed today
-
It's like Groundhog again from 2008. Somehow we need to find another 'Nigel Pearson' who can come in, instill some confidence, orchestrate some cohesive tactics and reverse the alarming trend of the season. Who that is though I have no idea.
-
It's unusual for someone from Holland to have such a poor grasp of the English language. It's not a criticism but a fact and seems to compound his apparent lack of coaching / management skills.
-
That is a truly depressing read
-
Lowe's made plenty of mistakes to choose from but I agree. Not appointing Pearson may well be his biggest one yet.
-
Sorry fella but I don't buy that. 'No other options but to use the Academy lads' you say? Well today I make it only James and DMG (plus 22 year old Surman with 100+ first team games) from the Academy started the game. This team should not be in the bottom 3!
-
Totally agree. Not that long ago he was using the forum for his own benefit, maybe he could come on again and explain wtf he is doing about the situation the club is now in.
