As probably the one player who could give DMG a run for being the most consitently poorest player of the season he seems a strange choice to be quoting in this time of need. Clearly many things are wrong but I don't believe either James or DMG can possibly be as poor as their performances suggest they are. I don't know if it's a lack of confidence, or the step up has just been to great for them to bridge, or they're playing out of position, or lacking in coaching I don't know but it's all adding up to this sorry state of affairs.

We could prepare for life in League 1 as I fear that would be the consequence of losing the three highlighted players.

And what is the basis for that little outburst. Dear oh dear. The point is that this topic has / is being debated extensively on other threads and as has been suggested this is duplicating those. If you think Lallana going is good news then you really don't understand football.

I hate to put the mockers on a good topic for debate but the reality is unless you are on the Board at SFC, or part of the Barclays team that 'manages' SFC and you have access to all the financial ins and outs of every other CCC team then no one can actually know. I have a wry smile when I hear comments like 'if Saga comes back in Jan we will HAVE to sell Surman (Lallana etc)'. It's stated like it's fact when of course it's purely supposition. It's clear we are not in a strong financial position but the depth of it (even with audited accounts) and comparison to other CCC teams can only be subjective.

What a complete load of doo-da but don't let facts get in the way of your thought process. Even Sundance Beast has conceded that there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest Pearson couldn't / wouldn't work with the youngsters. Plenty of quotes have previously been supplied et al from Pearson to support his positive view on working with the younger guys as has his previous experience with many levels of the England set-up including a spell as caretaker manager of the U21's.

I think it's fair to say the negativity expressed is not solely related to yesterday's result but the season as a whole and the continuing downward trend of this once proud club.

WC sometimes I agree with you, somethimes I don't but to make those comments about Lallana I'm afraid you are so very wrong. I've seem a number of games this season whilst in the company of ex and current pro's and to a man they all highlighted AL as the stand out player. He will go on to play at a much higher standard there is no doubt. SFC have done their utmost so shoe-horn McGoldrick into the team at any opportunity so we ought to damn well try and do the same with Lallana in a position and formation that gets the best out of him.

Fair comments Chez. It's clear that you can't make it through the grades and get into a CCC team without having a decent level of talent. The question this raises is why he seems to be struggling so badly (IMO) this year. Is it the formation, team-mates, tactics, confidence, coaching or whatever but I'm sure he must be a better player (his scoring record at Youth is enviable) than he is portraying on the pitch right now. He's been given a very good run so far, let's hope he turns the corner sooner as later may not be an option.

Very good, I did chuckle at that one. To be fair though after his disastrous debut he turned in some pretty good performances.

It makes you wonder doesn't it. I can only imagine it will be one of the 'struggling' clubs but you never know in this game. It won't come as any surprise if he does depart and also as it now appears he's looking for a move it will fit nicely with RL who will be able to say 'we didn't want to sell him but he wanted to go'.

Some well thought out points SB. What I'm not sure I understand is the basis for the view that Pearson would not cope dealing with youngsters bearing in mind he has worked with England at many levels including the U21's where he was also caretaker manager for a while. It seems to be a convenient argument from the pro-Lowe / anti-Pearson camp that appears to lack any substance. Or is there evidence to suggest otherwise that I'm missing?
