It also makes me wonder if this was the reason she appointed Krueger, who is less face it a master at corporate spinning BS, somebody with no experience in football before. Somebody to save face and do the media rounds whilst she carries through the asset strip? Or am I just being way too cynical here?
-
I am starting to believe that what we are seeing in front of us here, is a full scale asset strip by KL before putting the club up for sale. Quite simply, she recoups as much £££ as she possibly can through the sale of star players, you could be looking at £100m+ if the likes of Clyne, Chambers, Lovren, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, J-Rod..etc all follow Shaw, Lallana and Lambert out the door. She then puts the club up for sale at a lower asking price than if those players were still here. Lower price = more potential buyers and a quick sale. I am not the only Saints fan who feels this is what may be happening here, what are the thoughts of the forum?

Odds for Relegation next season...
saints_is_the_south replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Exactly. Osvaldo scored twice in half a season. Say we replace Lambert with somebody who scores 4 goals over a whole season. We'll be in deep trouble. Look at what a flop (and an expensive one at that) Van Wolfswinkel has been for Norwich. -
I wish I had the ability to bury my head in the sand with this "wait and see" nonsense like some of the posters above.

Brilliant, but sadly likely to be very close to the truth.

Odds for Relegation next season...
saints_is_the_south replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
I'll be having a tenner on that. And that is not knee jerk. We are about to lose Lambert (our 2nd highest goal scorer last season), most likely Lallana and our top scorer is out until the end of the year. That is 37 goals and 19 assists we must find replacements for. That is not going to come cheap. In this league you need goals to survive. Norwich who weren't all that bad at the back last season, could not score goals and that is why they went down. Without RL, AL & JR I do not see where our goals are going to come from. -
@bigadamsport: Update via @BenSmithBBC - #saintsfc told Liverpool they wanted to net 20M from Lallana sale, when rejecting initial bid - #afcb get 25% WTF would you tell them that. Absolute amateurs, this board is so far out of it's depth it is untrue. And the more I read the more I am beginning to believe that this is a full scale asset strip going on before our very eyes.

I had to rub my eyes and check I wasn't going mad for moment then, but no you really did just write that. Incredible.

No they didn't. Roma finished 2nd, Napoli 3rd and into the play offs.

Next 2 games for both teams Rochdale (1st) v Pompey (22nd) Northampton (23rd) v Wimbledon (15th) Newport (12th) v Pompey (22nd) Northampton (23rd) v Bury (19th) Two very winnable home games against lower half teams for the Cobblers. Two tough away games for the skates, the table toppers and Newport who stuffed them 3-0 in the JPT earlier in the season. This time next Saturday night they could be in the drop zone and 3 points adrift.

FT: Morecambe 1-1 Northampton

Northampton effort cleared off the line.

******** Morecambe have scored.

Down to 10 men now. If anybody wants them btw, live updates on the Cobblers game can be found here: http://wall.ntfc.co.uk/Event/Sixfields_247

Spurs were toothless in attack today. Had all of the ball but from 17 shots in total they only managed 2 on target. If we defend well then I'm confident we can get a result here. They also have a trip to Portugal to contend with, even if they are all but out they still have to do the travelling....etc. Won't get back until the early hours of Friday morning, then have to play a high energy team like ourselves. We owe them one after handing them 3 points at SMS this season and last season's game at WHL which we never deserved to lose. Can't stand Spurs or Sherwood so a win in this one would be very enjoyable. Prediction: Spurs 0-1 Saints.

Predict the results. Will we beat our 02/03 points total? Can we finish any higher than 8th? Spurs (A) - W 1-0 Newcastle (H) - W 3-2 Man City (A) - L 2-1 Cardiff (H) - W 2-0 Villa (A) - D 2-2 Everton (H) - L 0-1 Swansea (A) - D 1-1 Man Utd (H) - W 3-1 14 points. 59 total.

Has anybody received their tickets but not had any money taken by the club? Ordered Monday, tickets arrived today but no money debited from my card. Odd.

Sunderland with morale boosted after their thumping of Fulham last weekend, against Saints a club now in turmoil. Can't see anything but a home win. People will say the players are professionals and it should be make no difference to the match, but it will be in their heads and it will make a difference. 2-0 Sunderland.

Poch to leave at end of the season?
saints_is_the_south replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
I'm fairly sure that Tuttomercatoweb were the first to report Pochettino coming here to replace Adkins, before the British press got wind of it. Hope it's BS obviously but watch this space I'd say. -
Down Cardiff - That draw yesterday had Everton 2-2 from our relegation season written all over it. After the sinking by us, last night their confidence will be shattered, coupled with the turmoil running through the club I think they're doomed. Fulham - Just terrible. Ageing and stagnating squad. Just look poor and half hearted most times they play. Palace - Despite improvement under Pulis they still lack the quality to do it, but I think they'll give it a good go and run a lot closer to survival than I would have predicted at the start of the season. Would like to see them stay up and WHU go down in their place. Up QPR - Squad is far too good for the Championship, on appear at least. Would love to see them fail for obvious reasons. Leicester - Good squad and manager, feels like it might be their time. Derby - Got the all important momentum going their way under Schteve and I think they may do it in the Play Offs.
-
Some great moments, Liverpool away the highlight, some frustrating & disappointing. Draws at home to WHU & Sunderland and defeats to Villa & Norwich wrankle particularly. By and large though I think we proved in the opening 2 to 3 months of the season that we have a first XI capable of challenging for the top 6, but the last month or so has also proved we do not had a squad capable of doing so. Injuries have certainly taken their toll and some of those players filling in simply are not good enough for a top half Premier League club. Looking at the bigger picture though, we are progressing very nicely as a relatively new Premier League team. With key players returning and a good run of fixtures to come between January and March, I expect us to comfortably finish in the top 9 and then push on again next summer. Another three or four signings to match the calibre of signings we saw last summer, whilst keeping our star players would move us on considerably.

+1. Or likewise Roma v Napoli or Juve. Despite the distance from the pitch the Olimpico can be very hostile & intimidating when full or close to it.

why does Osvaldo not turn up for 90% of most games?
saints_is_the_south replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Very much this. As a follower of Roma, I am very much accustomed to his inconsistent performances, his missing of easier chances and scoring goals of sublime nature. It's just the way he is. Through his time at Roma I maintained that on his day he is up there with the best strikers in Europe. He does come across as lazy and not bothered a lot of the time, which is strange because you see his reaction when one of his teammates score a goal, he's going nuts and clearly does care. He is something of an enigma is Osvaldo. -
Had it in my head that we'd win this one for a while. If we can repeat our last home performance against City in this one then we certainly give ourselves a great chance of taking all 3 points. 2-1 Saints.
