  1. Not that bothered either. I'm sick of all the stories about Rooney, Suarez and Bale and the stupid amounts of money involved in football at the moment. I'm sure that once I'm in the pub before the first match I'll start getting excited though. Will just have to close my eyes and pretend that we're playing in a different kit during the game!
  2. So proud and pleased for him. I'm sure I was not the only person who went mental when it hit the back of the net. Proud evening.
  3. I voted no as I’m not sure either way and I could see the yes vote did not need my help. No doubt he has done a good job. I still do not think it was right to sack Adkins and the way it was done was disgusting. My main problem though is with the over optimism a lot of fans have got about the future if Cortese stays. Increased capacity, qualifying for the Champions’ League and beating established teams to the signing of international players if he stays. If he goes it will be a disaster on par with 9/11 (according to some!). This is not the case is it? It’s good to aim high but you will find plenty of examples of teams falling flat on their faces after over stretching. I would feel a lot more comfortable if we lived within our means and did not rely on anyone subsidising us. Anyway stay or go, you will still find me enjoying a pint before and supporting the team during the match as I have done for the past 30 years.
  4. Wayne Bridge, so I've been told.
  5. So if we go down this season it will be the fans fault will it? The only reason we might go down is because of this terrible decision to sack Adkins. The fans will do their best to get behind the team; but if things go wrong the atmosphere will be hostile. The anger will not be the fans fault; you need to blame the person who casued the anger. This is one massive gamble by Cortese.
  6. Thanks Nige for everything you've done for us. I've enjoyed nearly every minute and will always treasure the memories. I'm sure you will move on from this and come back stronger.
  7. The worrying thing for me is the amount of fans buying into this "vision" that we wll be competing for a top 6 place shortly. It is even acceptable to sack the most popular manager we have had because this is the only way we will get to this promised land. Some of you guys are acting more like members of some weird cult than supporters of the club. If I was a betting man I would say it's going to end in tears. Even if we do become the next new "big" club will it all be worth it?
  8. Think I'm going to have to take a break from the club as well. I've never felt so gutted and angry at the same time. Oh for 5 minutes in the same room as Cortese.
  9. Not sure about that. I for one would take relegation better than this. It will certainly change the view of people of Southampton and no manager would ever feel safe under Cortese. Just check twitter to see the anger this decision would bring with it; that would not go away in a hurry and return with every defeat.
  10. I know Southampton Football Club is bigger than any manager or player, but if this does come true I would find it very hard to renew my season ticket. Does not make any sense apart from certain individuals showing the power they hold.
  11. If Southampton do play the Christmas tree formation I'm sure it will be the "Upside Down" Christmas tree. Four up front with one defender at the back.
  12. I would be gutted if Adkins was sacked but if we had lost against Villa, and then the next couple as well the pressure would have been immense. I think that's what made the result so pleasing.
  13. Rather than post stupid threads why don't you start going to matches? Please stop posting anymore because your opinion is not worth the steam off my ****
  14. Come on we all know our defence was not that good in the Championship. We are going to need a few goals and a bit of luck at the back to get any points from any game. Maybe a couple of defenders (with Premiership experience!) in January?
  15. Just noticed that them down the road are at home this weekend as well. If they had not moved our game for TV we would be playing at the same time. I did not think this happened (or have they falling so far they do not count anymore)? It would have made my trip home to Portchester interesting anyway.
  16. I think Hansen was right when he stated that "You're win anything with older players".
  17. I hope the club realise that the window shuts at 11pm next Friday. Who ever has been tasked to call the Celtic Reserve manager about our next CB needs to do it slightly earlier this window!
  18. So Pompey fans don't boo their own players? Not sure that Dave Kitson would agree with that.
  19. Still find it hard to understand why he has to pay for a ticket when he wants to come to St Marys. Out of interest do current players/members of staff have to pay to watch a match?
  20. He was not good enough for us when we were in League 1 (that seems a long time ago!). You're all right though; he is too good for them.
  21. Phoning our ticket office number this morning it sound this has been sourced to Bangalore as well! Good service though.
  22. I have to prove the age of my under 11 son yet again, even though I supplied his birth certificate last season (which they took a copy of). I know they have a lot of customers to deal with, but their service is shoddy.
  23. I like Henry Hill the gangster, but I also like Harry Hill from tv..................................
  24. To the wonderful tune of Go Compare: "Jay Rodriguez" "Jay Rodriguez" "Jay Rodriguez is a very good player" Simple but brilliant.
  25. Why would Norwich be offering a contract to a player that is already under contract with a club? Also don't you think they would be offering Holt that sort of money if they could. File under bulls**t.
