THink a bit of perspective is needed here. He is 28, not old for a keeper granted, but still closer to the end of his career than the start. He's clearly going to be No.2, if not No.3, he's struggled with injuries. The only thing that really matters for the England side is the world cup, will he still be at the top of his hame for the next one? What are the chances of him sustaining a career ending injury in a meaningless friendly? I think he's doing exactly the right thing.
