Ah, I see. Pretty sure the two Mike McCarthys are different people, the one I know, doesn't have a thing for over-priced cats, although bearing in mind who his brothers are, his previous occupation & the size of the guy, it's fine with me if he does.

Death On Two Legs by Queen (about their previous manager) You suck my blood like a leech You break the law and you preach Screw my brain till it hurts You've taken all my money And you want more Misguided old mule with your pig headed rules With your narrow minded cronies Who are fools of the first division Death on two legs You're tearing me apart Death on two legs You've never had a heart of your own Kill joy bad guy big talking small fry You're just an old barrow boy Have you found a new toy to replace me? Can you face me? But now you can kiss my ass goodbye Feel good are you satisfied? Do you feel like suicide? (I think you should) Is your conscience all right Does it plague you at night? Do you feel good feel good? You talk like a big business tycoon You're just a hot air balloon So no one gives you a damn You're just an overgrown schoolboy Let me tan your hide A dog with disease You're the king of the sleaze Put your money where your mouth is Mister know-all Was the fin on your back Part of the deal? (shark) Death on two legs You're tearing me apart Death on two legs You've never had a heart (you never did) of your own (right from the start) Insane you should be put inside You're a sewer rat decaying in a cesspool of pride Should be made unemployed Then make yourself null and void Make me feel good I feel good

I don't think Gemmel got back to you, they're from Down In The Tube Station by The Jam, as Gemmel said - pure gold. Here's the rest of them: The distant echo - of faraway voices boarding faraway trains To take them home to the ones that they love and who love them forever The glazed, dirty stepsrepeat my own and reflect my thoughts Cold and uninviting, partially naked Except for toffee wrapers and this morning's paper Mr. Jones got run down Headlines of death and sorrowthey tell of tomorrow Madmen on the rampage And I'm down in the tube station at midnight I fumble for changeand pull out the Queen Smiling, beguiling I put in the money and pull out a plum Behind me Whispers in the shadowsgruff blazing voices Hating, waiting "Hey boy" they shout"have you got any money?" And I said"I've a little money and a take away curry, I'm on my way home to my wife. She'll be lining up the cutlery, You know she's expecting me Polishing the glasses and pulling out the cork" And I'm down in the tube station at midnight I first felt a fist, and then a kick I could now smell their breath They smelt of pubs and Wormwood Scrubs And too many right wing meetings My life swam around me It took a look and drowned me in its own existence It blended in with the weather It filled my eyes, ears, nose and mouth It blocked all my senses Couldn't see, hear, speak any longer And I'm down in the tube station at midnight I said I was down in the tube station at midnight The last thing that I saw As I lay there on the floor Was "Jesus Saves" painted by an atheist nutter And a British Rail poster read "Have an Awaydaya cheap holiday - Do it today!" I glanced back on my life And thought about my wife 'Cause they took the keysand she'll think it's me And I'm down in the tube station at midnight The wine will be flat and the curry's gone cold I'm down in the tube station at midnight Don't want to go down in a tube station at midnight

Wouldnt it be great if someone from the RAF did this again
Dimond Geezer replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Lounge
It's lucky there was an artist on hand to capture the event on canvas. -
That makes a lot more sense.
-
Probably true, especially as he left the band in '94 (Paul Rodges has been back since 2009).

Wow. Brilliant stuff, but can you imagine the carnage if something had gone wrong. -
Since we got relegated from the prem they haven't removed them in the family section. I took 3 into the Cardiff match, bag was searched as usual, the steward asked if I had any cans, I told him just bottles - no probs.

Japanese flag ..steward told me pole and flag too big ?
Dimond Geezer replied to millbrooktonian's topic in The Saints
I think the naval ensign (the one with the rays) has the sun disk offset towards the pole, the old imperial flag had the sun central to the flag (again with the rays). It can't be seen from the picture which type it is. As it happens, I was at the game last night with a WW2 veteran who was actually tortured by the Japanese, he had no problem with the flags being there, it was him that pointed them out to me. -
Based on last nights performance I doubt Connolly has much of a future here, I thought he was poor & ineffective yesterday, and will be a way down the pecking the order once the others are fit/bedded in.

I think NA is more than capable of giving a "good" interview, but I believe he likes to keep his cards close to his chest. I'm not really bothered about what he has, or has not, said. As far as I'm concerned it's what happens on the pitch that is the important thing.

At half time I thought we'd be lucky to get a draw, but at the end I was disappointed we didn't win. teriffic second half, Puncheon played the best I've seen him play for a long time . From what I could see KD was held down when they scored & we should've had at least one other pen, when Lalanna (I think) went over in the 6 yard box & the ref gave a goal kick. Thought Lee looked promising, lt looks like he got a bit of pace about him.

Lowe was just incompetant (& possibly egotistical), not deceitful or crooked.

WTF it's my son.

Does a 15 year old count as a child, or a concession?

I should have read what you'd written. The park opposite the coffee shop is Watts Park, with the Cenotaph in it. I think the Titanic Engineers memorial is in East Park (next to where the bird avery stood).
-
IIRC wasn't that a gyratory system? I was told it was so called because it had six roads coming into it, any idea if that's true?
-
Was that what that small brown timber clad building was? The park behind the coffee shop is called East Park, the one that used to have the bird avery in it. I remember you could give the minah birds money through little slots cut in the cage.

I sed to collect loads of junk when I was a kid, badges, matchboxes, stamps, PG Tips cards, sadly I still have them all in the loft . All I actively collect now is Queen Fan Club magazines & Saints matchday programmes, I have one for every game I ever went too - with one exception - that being MLTs testimonial.

All the parks in the city centre are still there. I recall the IB at the top of the precinct, so you would need to go down Pound Tree Rd to get to the parks, Palmerstone is on the left & Houndwell on the right.
-
You're right about the name of the shop, but everyone I knew/know always called it "the coffee shop". I loved the smell, but I never went in there, I guess it was the ancestor of Starbucks, Costa etc.

Or let them through his legs or bounce off his chest ala Bart?
