  1. I live near the flight path for the airport & have been lucky enough to see/hear them fly past quite often in the last few years, it really is quite an emotive & humbling feeling.

  3. Kelvin Davis - Legend
  4. To be fair, if a 10 tonne digger is falling on you from 20m, a hard hat will offer little protection.
  5. Something that terrifies me is the number of parents who aren't in control of their kids when using the pavement. When my kids were small they were either on reins (to matter how unfashionable it seems to have become), or they were holding my/wifes hand on the INSIDE of the pavement.
  6. Without wishing to speculate on who's at fault, the relative expressing anger doesn't necessarily suggest the rider was a fault, it could also mean that the relative was in shock & lashed, out blaming someone else rather than accepting that they may have been at fault themselves. This is undoubtedly terrible news & at least 2 families have had their lives ruined. Rip
  7. If he had missed any, they wouldn't have counted towards his goal tally.
  8. I shouldn't have, but I laughed.
  9. Very sad news. As a kid I loved the Monkees, I remember they were shown during tha six week holidays, it was one of the things you could gaurantee would be shown, (along with Why Don't You, Banannasplit & The Arabian Knights). As others have alluded to they were the very best manufactured band, the early material was recorded by session musicians, but from rudimentary beginings (all four were actually reasonable musicians to start with, but not good enough), they learned their trade & evolved into a decent "propper" band, touring and realeasing their own music. Rip Davy Jones, singer songwriter & grandson of Ena Sharples.
  10. Glass always half full? At least this year we get an extra day off for the jubilee.
  11. It was called the Bosuns Locker for a good few years, it has now reverted back to The Juniper Berry. Don't upset the landlord though he's from a family of famous bouncers/boxers that worked the doors at Raffles, amongst other places, in the 80's. It has to be said he's actually a top bloke though.
  12. Those guys have got some bottle. How does this sort of think ever happen. Who wakes up one morning & thinks to himself "I think I'll put some nails through my bike tyres & ride it full tilt around an ice rink." - Crazy (but entertaining).
  13. Because 6-7 years ago he played behind one of the worst defences ever to grace the premiership, if some posters on here are to be believed every goal that he's conceeded is entirely his fault, & in those 6-7 years he hasn't improved or matured.
  14. The Frog & Frigate - god bless all those that sailed in her
  15. We have Wave 105 on in the office. When we first started to listen to it it was great, used to play plenty of rock, (Queen, Meatloaf, Led Zep etc I even recall them playing Deep Purple), mixed with plenty of 80s 90s & current stuff, but in the last few years it's gone more uptodate. Ther's too much A-dull & Olly Murs now, but with the odd gem thrown in. TBH we only keep it on now because the mystery year is usually pretty good & worth listening to, and when that's finished no-one can be bothered to re-tune because the radio is pretty ancient & you get loads of interferrence when you go near it.
  16. Thanks Dave, you have an email.
  17. With regards to the Skates bringing in loanees, surely it is in our best interests for them to do this, they have yet to play Leeds, Boro, Reading, Brighton, Brum & Hull, all of which are within 11 points of us. We could do with our fishy friends taking points off them. Just a thought.
  18. Is the United Kingdom united?
  19. Done, didn't take anymore than 2 minutes.
  20. Iirc it means "come by here", or pass this way.
  21. What a prat, who in their right mind would do that even if it is a cheap copy. As far a rock 'n' roll vandalism goes, it's a bit lame. Pete Townshend used to destroy his in one or two mighty swings, how many attempts did this fool take?
  22. The Eclipse in Winchester is supposedly haunted by a grey lady. It's a long time since I've been there, but I recall a painting on the wall of the said grey lady.
