I just want to see some energy and pressing. We're almost playing at the moment waiting for the inevitable. Why have our managers proven tactics been abandoned? Lets get at them, pressure them and actually try to win the game!

Director of Football Operations Replacement Thread

Wishful thinking (at this stage)! Dont you just love these 'XXX is definitely happening by XXXX' threads, which never pan out?! -
Probably injured (again). Shame as I also noticed N'Lundulu (who actually looks pretty good) is also injured. Is Smallbone injured? Him and Slattery should be pretty good options in the middle for the u23s... Surprised Slattery hasnt been involved more in the first team squads this season (possibly something behind the scenes)?

Thought Danso looked decent and Boufal barely had any chance with our very negative play, but on the one occasion he did get the ball in a dangerous position, did a couple of players and had a good shot which forced a great save. He's a dangerous player - we should be building our team with him and Redmond (and Djenepo when fit) and actually start attacking teams and making things happen. For too long we've been playing with letting teams attack us without showing much intent ourselves - we now have 3 players who are exciting to watch and should be playing these guys. Either way it looks like we're going to concede goals so might as well try to score some ourselves...!

Players and staff donate ONE DAYS Wages to Saints Foundation
disconnect replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
One day's salary is a bit of a joke, seeing that most of these jokers earn more in a week than most in the stadium would in a year. It's depressing that even limited footballers like this can donate 5-10k away and it is probably like having a loose fiver or tenner in their wallet to them. They didnt have to do it no, but seems a bit hollow. -
Why does Ings run like someone's ringing the bells of Notre Dame?
-
"One incoming"! "Oh I didn't mean actually signing, just a rumour."
-
Crystal Palace are lining up a bid for Jean-Kevin Augustin to add to their attacking options if Wilfried Zaha leaves the club, Sky Sports News understands. The 22-year-old is still in Germany but is on standby to fly to London in case a last-minute deal is agreed for Zaha. Augustin would cost around £15m. Would've loved him here, but we were committed to Ings...

(1) Where will we finish in the league? 13th with a couple of good runs and a couple of bad runs in line with injuries to key players (2) Which round we will reach in the Mickey Mouse Cup? Quarter finals (3) Which round in the FA cup? 5th (4) Leading Goalscorer? Che Adams (5) Our player of the season? Very unsure, maybe Djenepo if he does well, if not Redmond or Adams (6) Which player will surprise you most? Dan N'Lundulu to start making a few appearances near the end of the season. Maybe Vokins if Bertrand injured (7) How do you think our great neighbors will get on down the M27?

£18million is ridiculously cheap in todays crazy market. It's basically about £10mil for 2 seasons ago... Surely we dont need to get rid that desperately
-
Yes - I remember the Crystal Palace match especially fondly. A few mates up here who support Palace and commented how he was the best player they'd seen that season.
-
In terms of ability surely our best player - he is the one player we have who can single-handedly dominate a match. Yes, he was injured a lot of last season / was even playing when it was known he was not 100%, but if he can keep fit I'd much rather him than our other midfield options. With the silly prices now he's got to be worth at least 30 mill too.

5 mill when not even great players go for 30/40/50?! Seems very underpriced for a promising young player -
the club will play this off as the return of Reed, McQueen, Hesketh and Obafemi (from injury)
-
I know you're probably taking the P a bit with the scuffed finish thing (based on the other threads), but he at least connected his foot to the ball when he scored, unlike a few other golden opportunities...
-
He had hardly only 1 or 2 friendly caps at that point though (I think they might have signed him 2 seasons ago?) as was probably 19 or so at the time. I think Djenepo is a bit more established on the international stage, but obviously being Saints we'll probably never be able to get him.
-
Good to be positive I suppose!
-
If we sell Bertrand we'll lose one of our last genuinely quality players... If we sell Targett we lose a decent squad player. Looks like it's goodbye to Bertie then.
-
Any chance he qualifies for the Dutch national team? I've heard they get quite a few goals from those situations...
-
What time is this mystery press conference today then?!

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
disconnect replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Flannigan surely being released after having his contract renewed over and over whilst injured (and now being injured again most of this season). Gutting for any young player to have their career ruined before it's even really started by something like that. -
Saints U23s vs Newcastle U23s - PL 2 Div 2 Play off Final

COYR! -
Last few games very disappointing, but without Vestergaard and Yoshida we have to play Stephens... Also having Ings going 11 games without a goal doesn't help. Hoping next season we'll have a new centre back, desperately need a new (good!) striker and maybe another pacey attacker to compliment Redmond
-
Redmond certainly didnt appear overjoyed with everything, but could just be his personality, and he probably also thinks he could've easily had double figures this season and regularly getting into the England squad. Fingers crossed neither him or Ward-Prowse are off and we can build a good team around them - think we're ok in midfield, just need another good attacker / striker and some defensive reinforcements and think we'll do alright next year.
-
Academy Player - Will Ferry President's Award - James Ward-Prowse Goal Of The Season - Yan Valery (vs Utd) Players Player - Nathan Redmond Fans Player - Nathan Redmond First Team Young Player - Yan Valery All fairly predictable!
