Hampshire End of Season report a personal view
corsacar saint replied to Weston Saint's topic in General Sports
Great news Corkie has re-signed,he was truly magnificent this season.I would love to see him captain the one day side next year[at least]. -
Total cakewalk,Lallana makes one hell of a difference.Hopefully the goals will give Rickie more confidence, his all round game is still hit and miss.Lee Barnard was terrific, and although I am not a fan of his at all,I thought Dean Hammond was excellent today. The last 20 minutes we were extremely sloppy[i lost count how many times the normally reliable Fonte gave the ball away],however hopefully we are now up and running. All the other results apart from Peterboro winning went almost totally our way.

Good footballer,he should add the much needed guile to our average midfield. -
Another two points dropped,I am glad Nigel Adkins sounded as angry as I am with another sub standard result.I think NA will get things right, but I sincerely hope we do not have to right off this season first. I still think we are suffering from a totally under cooked pre-season.
-
The worst part is having your weekend ruined yet again,by a bunch of total under achievers, and as for being 22nd,well.
-
4 Games played against Swindon, all lost, says it all at present.I hope NA is here by monday morning.
-
Have you changed your mind about this season?

Still think second if we get the right manager in.[NA,will do fine]. Last season I said 8th,so am still pretty hopeful. -
Totally delighted,a magnificent team effort. To stay up after losing our first 4 games in the CCC is awesome. Corkies bowling and captaincy has to make him player of the year, his will to win,is up there with the very best. Very,Very happy indeed.
-
NA comes has always come across as articulate, decent and honest, and his side play excellent attacking football, whats the problem with that.[Apart from the fact we are struggling to agree compensation]. I hope he joins us.
-
Ours to win, hopefully,a really solid batting performance today, well done Hampshire. another 30-50 runs would be great in morning, and then lets see if we can bowl them out.

Echo says Adkins on brink of Saints job 2.30pm
corsacar saint replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
IF true give the man a chance.S****horpe are a decent footballing side, which Nigel Adkins must take a lot of credit for. He comes across as a decent, intelligent guy as well. We are in league 1 for gods sake, who do some of you expect us to attract? -
What a magnificent bowling performance, now up to the batsmen,to get us an unassailable lead.
-
Spot on Kenny[Lets B Avenue],but if Kent beat us,we have to beat Warwickshire to stay up[and send Warwickshire or maybe Kent down]. This was probably a gimme up to a fortnight ago, when they started to win their ccc games. By the way do you not think it would help if another top order batsman or two managed to hang around long enough with Jimmy Adams?
-
As much as I am[was] a big KK fan,he hardly has the longest attention span, when it comes to staying with any football club.

Our deduction lost us at least the play-offs and maybe outright promotion,so each club has to abide by the rules. It is totally unfair on the fans as they are the ones to suffer. It is a shame some clubs do not live within their own means. -
Exglue should read exclude in the above post.
-
I hope at least 4 Hampshire batsmen, can look Jimmy Adams in the eye tonight.[i exglue Ervine who was out to a wonder catch].

Thank you for joining in one of the few threads I have ever started Alpine. It is just like having royalty on board. -
As I have said before following Hampshire and Saints should come wuth a government health warning. Hampshire are certainly not making it easy for themselves.
-
If we can win,it will almost certainly send Kent down, and we can all enjoy the Warwickshire game next week.Hopefully this will turn out to be a very important toss to win.

Agrree with both those sentiments Colin, look forward to seeing you tonight. -
According to the bbc sports site,Wednesday owe the taxman, 1.1 million by tomorrow.

What choice does the new man have, than to tow the club line.Reeds record at Charlton, does not fill me with much hope, that he knows what he is doing. Any manager who comes in,is surely in time going to find it very difficult to buy long term into this structure. The academy side of the club looks sound again, but the actual input a manager/coach will have in future would on the face of it be minimal, and therefore worrying. I sincerely hope that,I am proved wrong, but a yes man seems very much on the cards.

Huddersfield drew at home to Bournemouth,Wednesday lost at Brentford,Peterboro lost at[i believe Tranmere].That would appear to suggest with previous results for those teams, this could be a tight league. I would agree with a top appointment, there is still no reason to think,we will still not be right up there.
