I thought that Martin showed both his ability and his inexperience today. Give the lad a chance. I thought the team performance was impressive as much for the defensive display as for the goals. We defended right through the team and took the pressure off the back four. Perhaps those stats on the other thread do tell us something. That would have been a clean sheet had it not been for the dodgy penalty.

I don't believe that it had anything to do with fitness - more that premiership teams upped their game when it looked as though they might lose. BTW - is "Cutting a new one" the new cliche that seems to have cropped up?

Yesterday was the first time that I thought that Bart could put in a serious challenge for the jersey. He did play well but, as I have said already, he was playing behind the sounder defence which gives a goalkeeper confidence. That said he did nothing wrong. However, as others are saying, the jersey is still Kelvin's to lose. I think that Kelvin's critics have to bear in mind that he has been in front of us now for three seasons. Any foibles or weaknesses will have shown themselves in that time. I suspect that should Bart get his chance it will not be long before any of his foibles and weaknesses would become obvious.

Its all a matter opinion I suppose - I actually rate both keepers - but to be fair to Davis the "fumbled" balls would have been hard to hold given the speed at which he had to react and velocity of the ball. He was continuously put under pressure by the errors of the players in front of him while Bart had a relatively easy ride.

Why? Bart had a better defence in front of him while Davis actually kept the score down. You can never be certain about these things but Davis made one or two stops that I am not certain that Bart would have made.
