  1. Yes, I had that experience too. We eventually returned a 10:2 majority verdict because two women wouldn't commit ( I suppose they didn't want to convict an innocent man) but when he was convicted and they read out his list of past offences (as long as both arms) their jaws nearly hit the floor. At the end of the day -if he had been innocent he could have appealed. I found the experience interesting but, as someone else said, there is a heck of a lot of wasted time in law courts. They could save a lot of money just by working longer hours and making the process more efficient.
  2. Says he until he gets asked
  3. Is it? Perhaps the gap between the Chamionship and the top 4 or 5 is huge but the rest are very average but because their palyers are in the premiership they get paid top dollar - certainly far more than they are worth.
  4. I am not aware of any lack of exposure in the national press. Our match is the one guaranteed to be reported on in the Sunday Telegraph these days, for instance, but that is because we are top of the league. I have also seen quite few articles in various rags - again because our success is attracting attention. Exposure in the press is pretty much proportional to success. The fact that Hayward wants to write an article is indicative of that. BTW I do think that the club press office should be more cooperative with journalists writing these kinds of routine articles - I cannot see the benefit of ****ing them off unnecessarily.
  5. I often disagree with you Alps but you are spot on with this one.
  6. I think that this is precisely the situation. If we didn't have DeRidder then Forte would have been on the bench as the impact player with a turn of speed. He has been pushed down the order a bit so it makes sense for him to go on loan. And for those sneering at him - he had to be in the right position for the tap-ins. That is a skill in itself.
  7. This
  8. This. We were within a day of going out of business according to some reports so the line between brilliant "foresight" and being buried in S**t was very fine indeed.
  9. I simply don't understand this "lack of workrate" comment. It does not correspond with the Guly I watch.
  10. In my opinion we need to keep him. On the other hand I can now see Celtic trying to jack up the price and we all know that NC will not pay over the odds so I would surmise that Hooiveld is saying the right things in case things don't work out the way that I suspect he wants them to.
  11. Adiposely challenged?
  12. I haven't read every comment on the thread (51 pages) but in what I did read I saw the same mixture of honest assessment and delusional moaning about how it was all the ref's fault that you see on most forums after a defeat - including this one (fortunately not often these days ).
  13. My brother, who watches Boro reasonably often, said that they were outmuscled and outplayed. He had no gripe with the result reckoning that they had got away with it at only 3-0. FWIW I thought that boro played a nice passing game but it lacked bite. We mixed the play a lot more and always looked the more threatening.
  14. Chaplow was the player who caught the eye with the energy and physicality of his performance but many players had excellent games - Cork included - that is why we are top of the league
  15. The season before. I remember just a couple of weeks after that a disgruntled Manure fan from Torquay or somewhere wrote to a national newspaper complaining that he never seemed able to buy a ticket for Old Trafford but when he watched on TV he could see lots of empty seats. Someone else wrote in the next day and said that those fans were, in fact, there - it was just that they were wearing away shirts.
  16. But who would you rather be right now?
  17. Just put a 1 in front of those two numbers. That's what we normally do
  18. And in other news it has been found that bears like to evacuate their bowels in arboreal surroundings. And equally the margin between us beating them 3-0 rather than 1-0 was also very narrow. Just so long as we keep shaving the margins in our direction.
  19. Steve, do I take it from this that you believe that the Leibher's are only in it to sell when there is a decent profit to be made? That really is not the impression that I am getting from NC.
  20. For the greater good of the game I don't think that this is anything to be pleased about. As ever, it is about the rich grabbing more and more for themselves and let the rest go to the wall. It stinks.
  21. If this ever happened I would never watch another premiership game again - live, on TV or anywhere. If every FOOTBALL fan did this the value of the league to Sky would decline and the revenues would dry up. Sadly there are a lot of tossers out there who don't care enough about the game as a whole to make a sacrifice if their team were one of the lucky ones.
  22. I voted for Jos but Chaplow, Fox, Scheiderlin, Hammond,Do Prado, Davis ... in fact I thought that the whole damn team were immense.
  23. While I would not necessarily make him MoM, Schneiderlin, like Oakley before him, does his job so well that no-one notices -always available as an outlet, strong under a challenge, ready to make a lay-off or fire it long as required. What I like about us at the moment is that we have midfielders with different strengths that gives Adkins options for different kinds of games. I was surprised by his choice of midfield for tonight. But he got it right.
  24. Winning does give you a buzz , doesn't it
