You have to put it into context of the time we had been perennial strugglers for some time before WGS so 8th and a cup final was a big deal at the time. Obviously time has moved on and 8th and a cup final gets you no credit with the fanbase these days but back then it got a manager cult status.
-
You have to convince a manager you deserve a run in the side Gaston couldn't and despite 27 appearances in just over a season neither can Boufal.
-
finishing 8th (someway behind Eveton in 7th) and a cup final .....
-
**** me Boufal really isn't the answer after 27 league appearances 27 shots, 1 goal and a crossing accuracy of 19% https://www.premierleague.com/players/12584/Sofiane-Boufal/stats?co=1&se=-1 Redmond might not be great but he still offers more than Boufal. https://www.premierleague.com/players/3811/Nathan-Redmond/stats?co=1&se=54

Redmond has, rather surprisingly, had the 5th most shots in the league this season which would suggest he is at least trying to score and is probably the player likely to create something.
-
Which just highlights the issue for me we have three strikers who all have qualities and yet we choose to play a way that doesn't play to the strengths of any of them and play a wat that would suit a traditional big CF that we don't have. So the question is should the manger play a certain way and coach the players to adapt to the system or should the manager look at the players in his squad and play a system that gets the best out of them?
-
It doesn't suggest anything of the sort merely that there are more and more PL day trippers who treat going to the football like a trip to the cinema and like to turn up to watch a game while having little emotional investment in the actual outcome hence the crap atmosphere.

I thought that was a wife....

Wouldn't changing your mind after the event not be the definition of a revisionist then?
-
Is that the best we can come up with as a reason for including Boufal? He took someone on but his final pass wasn't very good and no goal was scored from it.
-
Only Spurs and Man city have made more crosses this season than us https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_cross

I'd love to know what this based on? There isn't anything to suggest that playing Boufal in the 10 will create any more than Tadic or Davis playing there. Yes he has the ability to beat a man but there has been precious little evidence to suggest that Boufal will score many or has the range of passing and vision to create much for others all he wants to do is beat a man and then try and beat a couple more until he gets tackled.

might as well let Newcastle have the points now if we are going do that....
-
Long is injured so unless you want to play McQueen out wide it will be Redmond
-
well if anyone can be bothered to go around crossing referencing posters comments at the time with what they are saying now go for it.... https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?56129-Pelles-poor-form&highlight=pelle https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?55899-Pelle-Austin-Jay-Rod-or-Long&highlight=pelle

We will have 65%-75% possession, loads of off target shots and no goals. Newcastle will score with their one attempt on target ( probably a header from a set piece) we will throw everything and the kitchen sink at them in the last 10 minutes final register a shot on target that the Newcastle keeper will save with a worldie. After people will say we were the better team and should have won.
-
This would be my option coach the rest of the team to get the best out of Gabbi.

In a fantasy scenario what counts as a realistic signing.....

Lets face it the worst culprit on here for the Pelle hate was...

from the echo http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/15389768.Saints_set_to_announce_Mauricio_Pellegrino_s_backroom_team__with_Eric_Black_staying_on/ Saints feel the Scotsman, who is said to be popular among the players, can offer support to Pellegrino as he settles in to his first management job in the Premier League, as he did for Puel. Black's familiarity with the current squad and experience of English football is viewed as highly valuable.
-
So most of them have been playing football for years but one season with Puel and they have forgotten everything they learned previously? The truth is more likely that the club hierarchy want to see the first team play possession football they've hired two managers whose style suits that and explains why (a few tweaks aside) we are playing very similarly to last season . It is interesting looking at the stats on the PL official website saints have similar stats to the big six in terms of things like back passes (Liverpool for example were the biggest back passers in the league last year and no one calls them boring) and ball possession the biggest difference, seems to be, the big teams have quality players who can turn possession into goals we have a bunch of very average players who can't.
-
That's the PLs biggest fear which is why they bend over backwards to keep them happy....just the mere mention of a breakaway league sends Scudmore in to palpitations.
-
Someone will be along in a minute to tell you Man city are watching him and rate him really highly (though not highly enough to ever actually make an attempt to sign him)
-
Really enjoyed watching that one thing I noticed though was just how many saints players were in and around the Lambert in a lot of those goals from open play we just used to flood the opposition box with bodies complete contrast to todays team...
