  1. wonder if we have any of these on Saintsweb........ http://www.cracked.com/article_17522_6-new-personality-disorders-caused-by-internet.html
  2. Personally I always thought that through the troubles the IRA were lucky they were dealing with the British goverment who, despite one or two incidents, were pretty restrained when dealing with the crisis and not someone like Israel who would have probably leveled the border counties to a wasteland and launched airstrikes on Dublin for good measure.
  3. Strange how he was happy to give up 30 years of armed struggle as soon as the chance for a nice job in the Northern Irish goverment came up. Almost as if his convictions were never that strong.
  4. Well I'm guessing in the 60s the looked across the Iron curtain at good old socialism in action and thought err.... no thanks. They probably figured that while rich upper class twits might well swindle and rob them is was still better than suppossed "men of the people" throwing them in the gulag or having them shot...
  5. So whats wrong with making people work for their benefits? Surely the unemployed could spare three or four days a week (leave them a couple of days for job hunting) doing useful community projects like litter picking, cleaning up chewing gum, sweeping up fag butts and so on. Maybe a labour orginization, like Germany's RAD of the 30s, might be a good way to make the unemployed work for their benefits and help the country out at the same time. I imagine if benefits came with compulsary community service it might make getting a better paid job a more attractive option.
  6. It's this sort of thing that causes half the problems those that abuse the system **** it up for those that need it (and he is not even British LOL).... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-18592468
  7. Got to agree with dune mowing twice a week espeically in the wrong weather conditions will cause more harm than good. The problem is a good looking lawn takes a lot of work...hence why mine isn't much cop.
  8. Time to think outside the box. Bio-diversity and wildlife gardens are all the rage do your part for the the countries pollinating insects by going for a wildflower lawn. up keep involves strimming once a year in the autumn other wise just leave to grow the weeds are no longer weeds but wildflowers and your saving the bees so you can feel good about your lack of gardening effort....
  9. You lucked out then. We have several Polish cleaning ladies at work and none of them could be described as fit...all very nice ladies but you wouldn't sleep with any of them...unless middle aged and buxom is your thing..
  10. We got a better deal on our mortgage and freed up a few thousand in a loan added to our mortagage to get new central heating in our house.
  11. Except you kind of proved my point, maybe not on the same scale I was alluding to, but you pointed at how bad things were and then justified going down the boozer and having gym membership. We all do it when money is short we all try to justify the things we don't want to give up (like nights out) but we're just kidding ourselves. I spent many hours trying to justify re-newing my season ticket this season but the truth is I can't justify it ...so it's radio solent for me, annoying, but other more important things have to come first. I'm not nearly as qualified as your misses but when I left college with my horticultural qualifications I took me a while to realize that rather than holding out for the job I wanted it was better to get any job and then look for my ideal job that hold out for something I really wanted and not work at all. Minium wage picking strawberries, or some other crap job, is better than no money watching the telly IMO.
  12. While I sympthise most of us have had these periods in our lives. When my wife at university we had my poorly paid job and her student loan to get by on so I got a second job working some evenings and weekends and she got a job as a waitress. We kept our food shopping budget to £30.00 a week (not sure how we managed that). Couple of years back when it looked like we might both lose our jobs we went through all our bills and searched for better options (changed our mortagage, several long term insurances and power bills) saved our selves a couple of hundred a month off our bills. Went through the house and ebayed/car booted lots of old tat/family treasures made a couple of thousand to pay off some exsisting loans. There is always something that can be done. Why don't you jog (which is free) instead of go to the gym that's 20 quid saved a month. A couple of nights out at the pub a month (whats that £50?) or a working boiler I know which I choose. Can't your girlfriend join an employment agency? even a couple of days work doing anything is money and work experince for her CV. If you've got a mortagage have you tried getting a better deal with your provider? Always things that can be done..noit always things people want to do granted.
  13. I'm an omnivore...If I like the taste I'll eat it...if I don't I won't this the general rule I use on deciding whether something is on the lunch menu or not......
  14. True I'm sure there are some families in real need but generalisations/stero types don't just come from nowhere they're generally based on a truth..
  15. No doubt these are the sort of people my wife deals with working as a teacher in a nice estate just outside pompey. "Oh no we can't afford £3 for little johnny to go on a school trip oh and by the way we need permission to take johnny out of school for two weeks to go on holiday to the costa del crappy" "School uniform is expensive we can't afford it...eh yes that is my new BMW" A lot of people make poor choices about what they think is important when speanding their budget. Feeding and clothing their kids are less important than fags, Sky TV and annual holidays abroad. Were not poor but we have to go without holidays and Sky and now a saints ST:( becuase they aren't high enough priorities on the family budget.
  16. If it all goes tits up it won't be the first time human civilization has been destroyed by climate change just take the the Harappans of the indus valley 4000 years ago http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/05/29/4000-years-ago-climate-change-caused-massive-civilization-collapse/ or the Hohokam indians of the southern US in the 1400s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohokam Of course climate change is going on it always has and always will.
  17. Generally a good belt and a working fly.......
  18. Ummm not sure an opening day spanking will be good for the teams confidence... pretty much a dead cert to be top billing on MOTD though.
  19. Well I was using IE8....Still Malwarebytes has been scanning for 20000+ items for 50 minutes and picked up nothing so I think I've got rid of it
  20. Just got it on my PC to. Only place I'd visted were SWF, ebay and the Beeb. Did a system restore and have downloaded malwarebytes and are doing a full scan right now. McAffe never picked it up at all usless bloody thing
  21. Saints have re-thought their season ticket prices and have decided to charge the same as Colchester instead....I live in hope
  22. Actually If you look at ww2 from a French point of view you can see why it's taken 68 years.... how about Oran anyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Mers-el-K%C3%A9bir Just look at the relationship between the French Army B (eight and half divisions of French troops) and the US 7th army after operation Dragoon not exactly cordail at times. The French needed allied help to get their country back but had/have way to much pride to admit it. They even ended up as the fourth power in the aftermath of WW2 including an occupation zone in Berrlin post war. I think the French rightly or wrongly felt they did their bit and hardly need to thank Britian who they had a very stormy relationship with throughout the war.
  23. This^^^ Doesn't seem to matter what party they belong to as soon as a politican gets a chance to bend the rules for some extra cash they grab it with both hands...
  24. Will this be us next season then? So of all three newly promoted Pl sides this season none now have the manager they came up with. Just goes to show being in the PL is no protection for the smaller clubs from losing their best assets.
  25. Ahhh good old football...the working mans game:lol:
