If we beat Ipswich on Tuesday night there will be 2 teams on 80 points (Millwall and Ipswich) and 2 on 79 (us and boro). Goal difference could be a factor but if we happened to beat Ipswich by 3 goals that would be in our favour. It is unlikely but Millwall and Ipswich next Saturday could both fail to win. If we then beat Preston and Boro don't better our score we end up in second position. Simples.

This and the previous post that you quote sum it up for me. I feel bitter atm and the atmosphere at Wembley Park tube after the match indicates so many other Saints fans feel the same. How come Man City can have 130 charges of financially irregularity seemingly ignored? How come Chelsea can lose squillions and not get punished? On the other hand points deductions are playing a huge part in deciding who gets relegated from the Championship. The whole thing stinks.

Very true. As I have been told by my mates, the whole country will be supporting us v Citeh (except for the fish fuckers down the road). Very few expect us to win. Our fans will outnumber their fans. We will turn the stadium yellow and blue and will have a great day out. What is there not to like? I can't wait. And of course, if we win.....

I agree with much of this. The only thing that I have to add is that we are at that stage of the season when we have to expect the unexpected. How else can we explain Pompey beating Ipswich or Boro's recent slide? We can win our last 4 games. I expect us to win them. But if say Woy does find a way to nick a point lets not give up hope of second place. Very little goes as expected at this stage of the season.

We are at that stage of the season when logic fails. Score predictions fail. Logically Millwall should have beaten WBA tonight but they didn't. There will inevitably be some illogical results tomorrow. Logically we shouldn't win our last 6 games. If however we can, we are going to be in that automatic promotion place.
