Disagree - we must keep Lallana. I can lose Shaw and Lambert, Osvaldo and Ramirez. No one else. Especially not our Captain.
-
I hope you're right. I really hope you're right and the 'deadwood' like Lallana, Shaw, Lovren, Wanyama, Sneiderlain et al don't also look to move on.

I think we need to let him go. He's already lost the fans. He'll be selling us 'Total Football' with Wotte next. Not a football person. Sack him. Les Reed is where my hopes lie at the moment, this guy has become a joke who's lack of integrity (intentional or not) will never be forgotten by the fans. I'm afraid he needs to be part of the clear out.

I have been on this message board for many years. When I read this from Fitz - a historian and fanatic fan who has forgotten more about this great club that many of us will ever learn in a lifetime - it makes me very very sad. I happen to agree with him. I can't help but see many parallels with what is happening now with WGS' resignation and exit from 8th place. I am not sure I want to watch Les Reed, KL and Krueger becoming the new Rupert Lowe's of Southampton history. I hope Les Reed can stabilise this club fast.

Blimey I'd forgotten about the youth coaches too. Sounds even worse now doesn't it?!

West Ham offered £6?!!!! Blimey we have been done like a kipper by Liverpool during the negotiations haven't we? Will we be able to replace him with someone better for £4m? .... And buy a second striker for whatever we get for Osvaldo on top? I think not.

To Renew or not to Renew ..........
SaintRobbie replied to Bourne Valley Saint's topic in The Saints
It will be interesting to see the take up. I have renewed already, but had I left it until today I am not sure I would be. I think I would be making an assessment based on managerial selection and the Boards performance in keeping our stars. I would then come occasionally and buy my tickets game by game - like many ST holders I can't get to every game but enjoy the craic with those around me. But I could afford to wait to make that decision, many can't. -
To be fair Les Reed is the only person now who can provide leadership. Krueger is now unbelievable and has been exposed as the mouthpiece for a lack of integrity and KL has never really been viewed as really wanting to be here. So, it's down now to Les. 1. To get a manager like Moyes who will be seen as a positive statement of intent. 2. To use the unexpected sale of Lambert and probably Ramirez and Osvaldo to reinvest in the managers requirement for a new strike force. 3. To use the sales above to strongly demonstrate that we do not need to sell anyone else and WILL NOT. To keep our Captain Adam Lallana. To only sell Shaw if the manager says so. 4. To make a clear statement to our players agents that we are not interested in selling so they should get back in their boxes. Do that Les and you'll be a man my son! Don't do that and you'll become Rupert Lowe II. Because the fans have (sadly) awoken.

Oh dear this is exactly what started to happen with Lowe. Funny though - I presume the green one is Les Reed?

I sort of agree with Monk, except unless you aim high you are always destined to fail. None of the so called big clubs started in the top 4. Remember that. Man City were nothing until recently. Chelsea were top half before investment to 'cement' their position. We can kick on. And we should always aim high. We can become a big club. If we don't aim to become one we will fall again. You never have stability with mediocrity in sport, only with success.

arsene Wengers out - just signed a new deal at Arse until 2017

Moyes is defensive I grant you that. Knows how to win a game once in the lead, he grinds out results. Considering we have a strong midfield (still) and defence and no strikers (Jay Rod is broken and Gallagher is League 1/CCC at best at the moment), it strikes me we might need exactly this type of manager. None of your list inspire me - Moyes I sense will be hungry to re establish his reputation. But, I can't see him wanting to work for our Board, who right now look very suspect.
-
One thing that worries me about selling Rickie without a managers input is not knowing the impact that he had in the changing room, the bit we don't see. Will it mean others will fold and go?
-
Me too - but would he come? His bosses are hardly displaying ambition and grim determination to retain our players.
-
Well at least we will definitely now have stripes. The Board surely won't **** us off any further than they are trying to at the moment?
-
£4m? Sounds like we were out negotiated at the end to me. Still, if I was a Liverpool fan now i'd be wondering if a striker who looked off the pace at times this season in the last year or so of his career was worth it. But hey - 10 goals next season from a super substitute may win them the League.
-
I bet the agents of our players are all working very hard at the moment. Ching Ching.
-
Stupid at best, lack of integrity at worst. I hope it was just stupidity.
-
That can't be true.

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included
SaintRobbie replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
When does Rickie get taken off the title? -
I assume he won't play tonight against Peru now? Surely Saints won't allow him to be picked before a medical for a club move?
-
Yes I think that sums it up nicely. I'd just add that they must keep at least a couple of our stars for any credibility - starting with our Captain, Adam Lallana.
-
I think that's a bit extreme, but your sentiment is right. If you want to progress you have to say to the players that they are going nowhere at some stage.

Lol. The first statue was priceless. Liverpool couldn't afford it. I wonder what happened to it?
