Barnard certainly didn't look like he could make the step up yesterday - and he might be unavailable for a little while as well! Hopefully it was just an off day but maybe just maybe we should be looking for another striker. Overall he's probably a better striker than Jackson but we need real pace and he might just be getting frustrated at not playing every game and not being first a first choice striker. Maybe he'd welcome a move to Norwich, up a division and a team on the edge of the Premietship. He might also fancy a move away from any off field issues in Southampton. In the long run we are going to need to replace both Lambert and Barnard - yesterday convinced me of that if nothing else - if we are going to go all the way back to the premiership.
-
Norwich were interested in Lee Barnard when we bought him and I think we were interest in Simeon Jackson over the summer so it could happen. Maybe if they chuck Surman on loan into the deal as well - that's if he's close to playing again - it would make sense for us. We desperately need some pace upfront which Jackson would give us and we could do with Surman to add some depth in midfield and it would give us someone who could pass the ball at the level ad Morgan and Chaplow.
-
Scholes, Owen, Hernandez, Giggs, Nani, O'Shea - not a bad C team. It wasn't United's full first team I'll give you that - but it wasn't exactly a third string either.
-
That we lack pace - and don't have the killer instinct when we go forward - particularly on the break. In Chaplow, Morgan, Oxlade and Lallana we have 4 premier quality players. That we desperately need a young pacer striker - or two - with real quality if we are going to make the step up to the Championship - neither Barnard or Lambert looked good enough.

Walcott played briefly for Newbury not Swindon

But we are the best academy!
-
We've undoubtedly gone one of the best academy set ups in English football if not the best. I doubt there is another club in thus country with as many academy graduates playing for clubs in the top two divisions right now - not too mention young players like Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain. Unfortunately unless we are in the top division we will find it very hard to keep hold of the best of them. Two Relegations have already cost us most of a golden generation in Walcott, Matt Mills, Cranie, Dyer, Best, Blackstock, McGoldrick, Surman and Bale. We should be thankful that Bale and Walcott showed enough loyalty to the club to make sure they left for big fees when both could have left for practically nothing. It looks like Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave us sooner than later as well - nut let's hope he comes back on loan the fee is large enough and tbe money wisely spent for us to build a team good enough to take us back to the Premiership If we don't get promotion this season Lallana will probably leave in the summer Let's hope we're back in the Championship and pushing for promotion to the Premiership before the current crop flower

I don't understand why we can't buy tickets online!?! They really need to upgrade the online ticket sales system!!!
-
Somehow the bloke that sits behind me in Block 34 managed to buy online the seats behind his rather than his season ticket seats! No idea how he did that! I had no problems though - this time!
-
We need another attacking midfielder and another striker - Ryan Harley and Adam Le Fondre would do for me. Today's game proved we still need a little bit more strength in depth. It was 2 points lost today - unless Brighton mess it up we are in the race for second place. Today was our big chance to go top and we blew it - simple as that.
-
Ryan Harley isn't playing for Exeter tonight - is that because he's injured or is he talking to another club. He's one if the players we've been linked with.
-
We will buy before we sell - I hope - if we do sell!
-
Unless its Dell! The Dell St Marys Stadium or the Dell at St Marys!
-
That's because Surman is injured!
-
That's because we all knew we were going to lose as soon as we looked at the team sheet/heard the team called out before kick-off! It's hard to get the crowd going when everybody thinks that!
-
How about 'small club! You used to be a small club!' Then we could sing 'Big club! We used to be a big club!' Or simplt 'you've got Brett Ormerod' Then there's the 'Posh spice is a .... .... .... thinks of Ormerod!' Let's not forget they are in the top tier and we are in the third tier - so we shouldn't really throw any stones from our glass house!
-
A good away win - and we are in Second place - have to be happy with that!

Their big rivals are Crystal Palace for some reason - supposedly they really hate each other according to a Brighton fan I used to work with. It must be a Surrey v Sussex thing! I think they are all a bit paranoid about Southampton at the moment as by support and history we are a bigger club - and we were favorites to win League 1 - and I think they are afraid we might still do so! The Calderon thing in the Summer didn't help - nor did Poyets bleating about it. Have to say I'm glad he stayed at the Withdean as he was awful in the game at St Marys. Poyets and the whole Brighton team also seemed scared of Saints - playing for a draw and time wasting from the first minute. I know they were missing a few key players but I was expecting a lot more from them - some football at least anyway!

Motorola, Ericsson and Huaweii (?) all have there UK head offices in Basinstoke. Sony, IBM and Siemens also have offices in Hampshire - and Vodafone is not that far away! Arqiva's head office is in Winchester - and Nokia and NTL are based in Farnborough. Theres always Denplan in Winchester as well! Then theres Ineos in the New Forest and Centerprise International in Basingstoke. There's even Twinnings, Bendicks, Wella and Game with head offices locally as well! I'd love to see Dell - and with stadium naming rights - or Virgin!

Guly is an attacking midfielder - and had a great game playing upfront - he just needs to hit the ball first time instead of taking the extra touch - but that's probably the difference between an attacking midfielder and a striker! It was frustrating to watch as he came so close to scoring so often! But he was nearly always in the right place and ran his legs off! I'd like to see Barnard and Guly on the pitch at the same time - there movement around Lambert would cause teams real problems. Also starting to think we are playing Oxlade a bit too much. Suggests he's on his wat to me -and we are trying to put his price up a bit!
-
In Fonte Barnard Chaplow and Richardson we were missing 4 key players. Yesterday proved that we have no strength in depth - we had nothing on the bench - and if we don't put out our first 11 we are very average for this League. Where were Mills, Puncheon and Wotton to come off the bench. It looks like we've let players go before we've replaced them. Morgan and Oxlade both looked like they had January moves on their minds

I can't believe that no one has noticed that Pompey tried to poach at least two players from our Academy - and probably more than that - bit like they poached Cranie. I know of at least one season ticket holder at Saints whose son plays in Pompey's youth academy but is a Saints fan who attends games and wears the shirt! He's desperate to switch to Saints though!
