Would be interesting to see Charles in a proper box-to-box role as he is one of our few progressive passers. Not seen that enough from Jander yet and it’s definitely not Romeu/Downes game. I feel like the three of them together would be a bit overkill and we really need to try to play Azaz into form. McCarthy Jelert - Wood - Stephens - Welington Charles - Romeu Fellows - Azaz - Scienza Stewart

Would be putting a promising young coach in a big situation far too quickly, but nothing would surprise me with SR.
-
He even looks eerily like Selles, getting worried. Good for him, hope he continues succeeding with the U21's. Not what we need now though.
-
Awful for the goal and so lucky not to bobble another one to make it 2-2. McCarthy is still a depressing lesser of two evils.

An unconvincing win was best case scenario manager-wise. Those last 15 minutes were embarrassing.
-
Stupid tackle. Don't see us lasting 10 minutes like this.
-
Incredible.

First time we've had a two-goal lead in the league since May 2024.
-
What a player.
-
Exactly my thoughts.

Can't believe I'm watching Armstrong run around doing nothing as a lone striker again.

Fellows will largely be further forward anyway, doesn’t really matter if it’s a “5” on paper. Good team I think. 2-0 win.

Manage Southampton on Football Manager 2026
Saint Matty 76 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
To be fair to MLG, I'm pretty sure it legitimately is not possible? I've definitely tried! There are some definite improvements but on the whole it's a huge embarrassment for SI to release this mess after 2 years. The game will likely be saved by modders who have already done good work to increase the tragically slow UI speed, but I'm baffled about what they've been doing in the build-up to this game. Some of the design/functionality errors I encountered throughout the Beta were remarkable. Looks like they've catered for the console version, which has also ended up going down horrifically in terms of ratings/feedback as well. -
They’d probably be smart to announce it on the pitch before Saturday’s game to try and get some positive feeling in the ground, if he’s guaranteed to not be ready for the match regardless.

Player Ranking Season So Far: Best to most appalling

Great: Good: Scienza, Charles Decent: Jander, Robinson Average: Welington, Fraser, Wood, Fellows, Stewart Disappointing: Azaz, Roerslev, Quarshie, Edwards, McCarthy Poor: Downes, Archer, Armstrong, Bazunu, Manning, Stephens Terrible: Downs, THB N/A: Jelert, Matsuki, Aribo -
Stuttgart manager! I think we rapidly need to remember where we currently are in the food chain.
-
Enough for me. We’re winning the league.
-
No idea what he’s like these days but we needed something with Charles injury. An actual leader on the pitch as well. Miracle.
-
Eckert to win and inexplicably get the job, Selles style.
-
I think it'll be Carrick. I seem to remember Carrick was ultimately fired because Middlesbrough stagnated and played boring football. Don't really think there's a appointment available which is going to be overly exciting.

At what stage do fans stop attending home games?
Saint Matty 76 replied to Mboto Gorge's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't, to be honest. I'll skip more games than I typically do due to extended travel and the pay-off not being worthwhile, but football is a reason to see friends I likely wouldn't otherwise. -
I think he just did!
-
Didn’t help himself with how he set-up the team but this group of players are so, so poor and have also let him down massively. Had to happen after yesterday but can’t say I’m overly thrilled about the likely prospect of somebody like Carrick. Would’ve been happy with Rohl.
-
Quite difficult to put a line-up together without a number of players who I actively can't stand. Rather see somebody new get a chance up top as opposed to what we've seen from the other three. McCarthy Roerslev - All CB's are the same level of average/poor - Manning Downes - Jander Fellows - Scienza - Robinson Oyekunle

Southampton 0-2 Preston - Match Thread
Saint Matty 76 replied to Convict Colony's topic in The Saints
Can’t believe I travel for these games still. Roerslev is like another centre-back, if you’re going to use this vile system at least start Fellows there. Big changes and a big reaction at half-time otherwise I can’t see the point coming back for this moving forwards. Not all Still but doesn’t do himself any favours with this vile set-up.
