  1. I find myself doing this sort of thing a lot recently but the reality of it is its all completely pointless, a bit like filling in a "predictor". All teams have points that they "should"/"shouldn't" have won or lost but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the final score. Furthermore its quite hard to judge where you draw the lines between luck, bad play and things "just being football".
  2. I've been telling my friend for a while now that Rickie Lambert no longer takes penalties. A penalty given for Saints is simply awarded as a goal.
  3. Lets keep our heads and see this out!!!! Don't forget 2 years ago!!!!!
  4. To be fair to Alpine the guy wants Saints to win and he has every reason to be justifiably ****ed at what is frankly a catastrophic result.
  5. I'd love it if we could have a slightly more varied version of the chant I've suggested as you've come up with here. Unfortunately a large percentage of our fanbase is too damn stupid and will revert to singing "Red Army" when we play away to a team that plays in red instead of being able to sing a song involving more than a few syllables. As has already been mentioned its incredible the Ricky Lambert chant has worked. Anyway. Just some form of the Spiderman song...please!
  6. The only arguments against changing the law with regard to the right to die are the ones based on practical difficulties. Any, and i do mean ANY argument against it from a moral standpoint HAS TO revolve around some kind of variant of the idea that an individual DOES NOT HAVE the complete ownership and rights to their own life.
  7. Amen to that. Furthermore, the return chant of "WHO THE **** DO YOU SUPPORT?!" basically shuts people up and makes anyone singing the song of any team's rivals look like complete fools. (I don't feel we use it enough in response to any nothing club singing "play up pompey" towards us.
  8. Yeah I think I mis-remembered (if thats a word) the Spiderman theme. But yeah I get you. Of course this would be the best chant (other Saints friends of mine have wondered why we haven't managed to get it going...but there are several problems. 1) Our fanbase/stadium announcer is too stupid to collectively realise his name is Shnyderlann rather than Snyderlinn. 2) Its vaguely unique and our fanbase has hardly been a bastion of originality since we were last in the Prem. 3) There are still too many fools who love an English talentless try-hard clogger and actually, honestly rate Hammond higher than him and would rather see Hammond sliding in and picking up a yellow card than watching Morgan nip in, intercept the ball cleanly and win possession. Utterly ridiculous that a player that certainly Pardew as well as Adkins rated as one of, if not the most technically gifted midfielders in the league. ...Come on people...prove me wrong!
  9. Ain't gonna lie, I remember thinking he was a load of overhyped tosh throughout our relegation season in 08/09 and wasn't at all impressed. What can I say? Delighted to be proven wrong! With someone having as much talent as he has its great to see what has obviously been sheer hard work and practice on his part, because his improvement has been fantastic.

    Texas Hold'Em

Was this a cash game or sit'n'go (one-table tournament)? If you were playing cash and 100 big blinds deep I'd have a degree of sympathy for the Latvian, but if you were playing a S'nG, in the BB and the BTN open-jammed for 5 or 6 blinds its a standard call on your part. Either way, it can be quite incredible how mental people can go when you bust them (even if you don't suck out!). I remember once playing in a cash game, stacking my opponent for a £400 pot. Nice and everything but the guy kept on making rude, snide comments towards me all game. Furthermore this guy was a regular at the Casino and must have been wealthy enough (cos he sure as hell couldn't have been a winning player from Poker). I on the other hand was a baby-faced 19 year old kid! Pretty harsh! Easy enough to ignore but annoying all the same, which is why I mainly stick to playing on the net. For me, nothing beats a night playing for a fiver with friends though. I love playing live, but when you play in a casino full of aholes you end up wondering whats the point?
  11. To the tune of "Spiderman" Schneiderlin! Schneiderlin! We've got Morgan Schneiderlin! x2 Look out *clap/clap* look out *clap/clap* here comes to the Schneiderlin!
  12. The whole debate here is complete pie in the sky. You cant reason with genuine religiosity. You want gay marriage? tough. Bible says no. Thats the end of the debate from the point of view of anyone who truly believes that their religious book really does reflect the will of the creator of the universe. You have to take a stand and simply say that religious beliefs will be completely disregarded in state affairs. If the issue on the other hand is one of democracy and the majority of people are against gay marriage however, then thats another story altogether.
  13. Anyone know if they're going to be doing a football league top 50? Or is that just fourfourtwo magazine?

    Texas Hold'Em

Played quite a few times down at the Grosvenor last year, although not so much in this one. If you want to play live I will tell you now that luck will be a huge factor, variance in Poker (mathematical deviation away from the norm) can be brutal when your volume of hands is so low (as it will be in live play). By all means go and have a bit of fun though, you're really just burning money playing any other casino games so see what you can do with Poker and as I say have a laugh. The whizkids making real money from poker are often going to be grinding out 6 tables for several hours a day taking things very seriously, with various computer programs tracking information and stats on their opponents (which are often far more reliable than live "tells"). The general recommendation if you want to make a serious profit from the game is to set aside a bankroll completely seperate from your day-to-day money so that you never play with more than 5% in any cash game. So if you have a roll of £5000, you can comfortably play buy-ins up to £250. You want to be able to think of your chips as playing pieces just like in chess or checkers rather than actual money. Being scared to lose money will cloud your judgement and really hold you back. Furthermore as I say mathematical variance in Poker can be so hideously brutal and you're never garunteed to make money. Any old idiot can spin £50 into £400 (no offence Jack - not implying you're an idiot). Likewise the best player at the table can burn through a couple of buy-ins through no fault of his own in 15 minutes. If you get all in pre-flop with Aces against Queens for instance (or any underpair for that matter) - you're an 80% favourite. On average you'll lose such a race once in every five times and yes this can happen three or four times in a row. The key is to play enough volume and to stick to good bankroll management so that getting yourself into favourable positions will pay off in the long run. As for online; ignore any idiots claiming that its rigged or unbeatable, a very small proportion of the poker playing population are solid winning players but it can be done, and on a fairly consistent basis to. I'm not saying its easy, but the vast majority of people are fantastically stupid and inept at games requiring patience, discipline and intelligence, so with practice and dedication, you can turn it into a very profitable hobby. Keep your feet on the ground though. Have fun, discuss hands online and keep learning. If there's one brilliant piece of advice to live by when it comes to Poker, its that you're never as good as you think you are! No matter how well you're doing.
  15. These next few games are an interesting challenge. We've had two tough games with a bit of pressure off us. Now its time for a new, different challenge; top of the table at home against two teams from who 6 points is the bare minimum. Anything less than two wins would be poor. Even a win and draw would be below par. Very demanding I know but thats the standard you need to be at if you want to win the league.
  16. (To the tune of "Spiderman") Schneiderlin! Schneiderlin! We've got Morgan Schneiderlin! Schneiderlin! Schneiderlin! We've got Morgan Schneiderlin! Look out! Look out! Here comes the Schneiderlin! So bloody simple even our collective dumbasses should manage it!
  17. They should have at least 5 or 6 minutes to be honest.
  18. Bloody hell if we can hold on to this it'd be probably our best win of the entire season.
  19. The EDL officially have a perfectly reasonable position. The problem is that they inevitably attract racists and thugs which just infest the group and reduce it to what may as well be the BNP. However, I do have a degree of sympathy with their cause, if you liberals really do care about freedom and equality as much as you say you do, don't you think that a bunch of thugs threatening to execute homosexuals and Hindus should be protested against?
  20. The Russian anthem is brilliant - every note rings out blistering with pride and power. French a close second. Our pussified "national" "anthem" is nothing of the sort. Just a plea for an invisible man in the sky to protect our silly little monarchy that we should have grown out of by now. Nothing to do with our nation, history or people. No wonder we lack national identity.
  21. Lee surely deserves to start. I know he's a great impact player but at some point he should have 90 minutes.

    Syria

Ties with Russia are simply too strong and there's no oil. I personally probably lean fairly right-wing and am quite neoconservative in my opinions and on a scale of things I'd say I'm more sympathetic to America than your average person. But; I'd be the first to admit that they'll only intervene in nations if and when it suits them. The Bahraini regime is just as bad; but its stable. And the America fifth fleet is based there. Same thing with Syria really.
  23. Yeah I noticed that as well. Quite impressive really.
  24. Bang on. Excellent player, passes with both feet. Dominated the game in the second half. Kind of frustrating as a lot of the time I feel like hardly anyone really appreciates just how good he is. Baffles me how some people genuinely think Hammond is even on a par with him. Shows how England's footballing culture really appreciates a talentless try-hard clogger over a skillful football player.
  25. The whole thread seems to be a load of eye-rolling, downplaying and general excuse-making from people who for some reason feel the need to defend any fellow Saints fan at any cost. I absolutely hate the PC brigade in this country and have got into many arguments with the super-duper left posters on this board over issues such as the EDL and the London riots. However. This isn't about political correctness or about some kind of borderline, pseudo-maybe-offensive faux-pas. It really is genuine abuse that should be cracked down on. If someone really did shout out what they've been accused of shouting out then its completely worthy of reporting. As for the idiots saying that he should have confronted this thug at the time rather than reporting it in a civilised manner - i'll see you soon on the other side of whatever check-out/McDonald's drive through you work at.
