The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
S-Clarke replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
I would be gobsmacked if we signed any players that are currently in the Qfs of the world cup. We'd be lucky to attract them even being in the championship. Our level is a million miles away from the level they're playing atm. -
It seems like the opposite of the last world cup. We had the group games full of goals and 3-2 games, but the last 16 and the rest of the knockouts were pretty drab games. - but on the basis of the last few ''knock out'' group games and the first game today, it's setting up to be much more exciting. Feel sorry for South Korea, just felt they lacked a real proven goal scorer - and Uruguay have those in abundance. I remember watching Suraez take us apart at St Mary's, thought he looked a good player then!
-
Best backup keeper in the league, to add to the general tone of us having the best of everything in this league.
-
really good, plays for Udinese in Italy and is very highly rated. The save from rooney when he hit the post was fantastic, although he did scuff it slightly.
-
you missed the first 2 games then. This was as well as we've played in a while, and the 1-0 scoreline flatters them in all honesty. They should have been out of sight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj_06hLQPdk enough said.

SWP should be nowhere near the team anyway, so suprised he got called up.
-
We will sign players properly and professionally, like we have done all along. You'll hear the rumours a day before a certain player is set to sign, and it's not usually a player that has generally been speculated about. The club have done a great job of keeping transfers underwraps in the last 12 months.
-
we'll be lucky to get a draw if we play like that.
-
Not sure tbh, i think it would be asking for trouble adding another out of form player who's lacking confidence. Theo needs a year of regular football before he should play international football again.
-
Sounds like you had a more entertaining night than the rest of us
-
I will bet your money that the team will be - James Johnson - Upson - Terry - Cole Lennon - Barry - Lampard - Gerrard Defoe - Rooney i just think Capello is too stubborn to make radical changes.
-
i'm sure he would have offered a bit more than heskey!
-
Rooney isn't fit, he shouldn't even be there IMO.
-
QF of Euro 2004 probably.
-
i tell you what, roll on the season. International football is ****e. (although i probably won't be saying that after a 0-0 at Dagenham)
-
i like capello, but he had no idea tonight. Was totally lost.
-
Slovenia is no roll over, possibly the hardest team in the group. They have the confidence and the points...who'd have thought that.
-
that was the worst 90mins of football i have ever watched in my entire life. It was inept, truy inept. Rooney looked like a conference player, no confidence, heavy touch, no pace. He's clearly not fit at all, probably playing at 40% fitness. Gerrard had the life strangled out of him to accommodate heskey, who did as much damage as a gust of wind. At least we had a bit of life with Sven managing us. Point of taking joe cole if you're not going to use him? SWP offers nothing, you'd thought he'd have learnt that by now. What a waste of a summer this has been.
-
James replaces green in goal. Carra and Heskey start. Gerrard moves to the left to accommodate barry returning in the centre.
-
he's doing better than just ok! it's a magnificent achievement what he's done there. He over performed with the squad in the CCC this season, but to get so close to the prem. after just being promoted to the champ is fantastic. next season will be different though, real expectation behind them. I'm sure he'll cope though, he's worked wonders there.
-
i know that there is a player in the academy at the moment that is ''very special'' - the club have been trying to keep him under wraps, but the coaching staff are so excited about him. wonder if this is the kid?

2010/2011 League One Fixtures - out now! Plymouth (home) first
S-Clarke replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Perfect. home first, home last. No newly promoted teams in the first few weeks of the season. Nice -
South Africa were totally outclassed today, Uruguay aren't any world beaters either. Shame, it's always nice for a host nation to do well in the world cup.
-
This makes things very interesting. The swiss can now go and top the group....spain will finish runners up without much trouble IMO, but the tough test is that they will possibly face Brazil in the last 16...
