The Newcastle game wasn't that bad, in all seriousness I was frustrated we didn't win it. Mane had two major chances at the end of that game to make it 3-2 to us.
Pards was at that point. I think we wanted him, but Reading quoted us something like £1.5m and we did a runner at that point. And then he subsequently scored against us in the pre-season friendly against reading that year too.
I heard that it would be done in installments, but I assumed it would be over a season or 2 - but in reality he will probably never cost them £30m. If they get 2/3 years out of him then they've spent under £20m on him. Good deal on paper that. I think Newcastle in the end were pressured to get him out and to save face with the fans they came up with a deal that 'may' (i.e never) reach £30m.
I find it amazing he's paid to write that. Chelsea had an A+ window but everyone they signed was poor apart from Kante. Ok.
''I don't know much about Boufal''
This is the transfer deadline thread, I'm commenting on deals being done. What's your issue? Maybe I should join in with the narrative of slagging our club off. Should fit in.
Yeah, shows up his character to be honest. Pretty weak.
But also shows up how little thought was done into this ''attempt'', stunk of a last min panic and that's seemingly what it was.
£25m on Bolasie, about £10m on Williams, £6m on Gauye...and Stek for a nominal fee. So, they're actually up there with us at the top of the net spend table, given they sold Stones for 50 odd mill. Funny old game.
