  1. Pace is important in the PL, but I agree, it's silly to say that you cannot have an impact if you don't have pace. Modric isn't the quickest in terms of out and out pace, neither was Matt Jarvis and he did alright didn't he? I think an injection of pace is important for us in the right areas, notably the full backs and CB.
  2. This!!! I thought he was the final part of the jigsaw, that cultured midfielder would would run the game for us. He was ****.
  3. Just saw that myself, getting closer.
  4. Crouch. At the time he was a bit of a laughing stock, but you have to say that his move here made him. He then turned into an international level striker playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, quite a swing from 12 months previously when he was just a villa reserve.
  5. Couple of names. Dann was an linked earlier on, but that seems to have cooled. A foreign name which picked up last week was niklas moisander who is the captain for AZ and Finland, 25 year old CB. (who can also play LB). I expect more names will crop up over the next week or so, but NA has been quoted as specifically saying that we will definitely buy 1 CB, if not 2.
  6. Exactly this, people need to stop looking at it as a static 4-3-3 because it isn't. That's why we're deploying/and buying players who are comfortable in more than position - it helps tactical reshuffles during games and also allows you to deply very adaptable tactics. As i said above, Guly can do this pretty well.
  7. Lallana fits in by being the first name on the teamsheet, he has to start every game as he is our best player. Generally I think NA wants an adaptable 4-3-3 formation, that will mean Lambert as the loan striker, flanked up by Rodriguez and Lallana - who also cut in and join to make a proper front 3. There is then the support from the full backs who will get to the byline and put the ball onto one of their heads. I'm nto sure NA is looking for an out and out winger, as he see's our full backs as being able to perform that sort of role, what he wants is adaptable players who can fit into many formations along the front line - this is where Guly comes into the fore, and also why we're looking at an attacking player such as Lens.
  8. Yep, he was described on another forum as a player who could take to any position as he's that technically gifted.
  9. I really wish I was around when Keegan was signed, would have loved to have been around to soak up the atmosphere - must have been electric all over the City. Would love to have seen other fans reactions too! Doubt we'll ever make a signing that'll shock as much as that again, it would need to be someone like Ronaldo or Messi to have he same impact I'd expect.
  10. An official move made for another player according to Alan Nixon on twitter, he's not mentioning names, but it'll be in the paper on Monday.
  11. Well he's throwing his hat into the ring during pre-season, that's for sure. What the motives are for that, who knows. I still don't trust the guy really, not the right sort of character that you see associated with us these days. But I think he's got a chance of being in the 25, simply because he's on our training camp. If he wasn't in the plans I doubt he'd have gone with the squad, he would have bene left behind with the likes of Forte, Barnard, Dickson etc. - so NA clearly thinks he can have some sort of impact. Time will tell.
  12. Quite clearly rubbish. He's with teamgb
  13. Does someone want to reply back stating that they spent £8m on an average > poor championship striker? Jay Rodriguez is also a better player than Nugent will ever, ever be. Can't even be arsed to respond to any of the other ****.
  14. According to the twitter it was comfortable for us, Evian barley got a look in. We should have won by a much bigger scoreline.
  15. All over, we won. Excellent result against a top 10 french team.
  16. Have to assume that's an injury to Shaw.
  17. As a marker for next week, Ajax are currently thrashing Celtic 4-0.
  18. https://twitter.com/ETGblog FYI...a french based (english speaking) twitter feed giving regular updates.
  19. From how NA was talking when we signed Clyne, they didn't want to throew him in as they wanted to give him a full assessment to see where he was etc. Likley that this game just came a little too soon for him. Would expect him to be involved against Ajax though.
  20. How assured does Ward-Prowse look by the way? Can't believe he's only 17/18. So agile with an excellent range of passing, seems to just find players with ease...and if you notice, he always bombs into the box with great timing. Reminds me so much of Jack Wiltshire, he's definitely in that mold. You can tell why the club are going the whole hog with his face in all the promotion, he's going to be some player. They've been rightly excited about him for a good few years now.
  21. But he doesn't solve the problem of our lack of pace. And Wolves want upwars of £10m, which is why that has gone quiet. Lens will be cheaper, young, quicker and more talented.
  22. Very happy with our dealings so far, all young players (Davis isn't that old either tbf) and all with the ability to improve and get better...and another way to look at it, their price will only rise. Give it a few years and I reckon we could provide a fair few England internationals, just as Villa did a few years back. Lallana, Cork, Rodriguez, Clyne - all have the ability IMO.
  23. 15million? Holy Jebus. Good player, yep, but a criminal amount of money - again - spent by Liverpool.
  24. He does, and I think people look at SDR last year and how good he looked etc - but let's not kid ourselves, this Lens fella is playing for a huge European club and has alot more about him that SDR quite clearly. I know he's rated very highly back in Holland, and IMO he's easily a mid-table and above PL player, so we'd be pulling one hell of a signing off if it happens.
  25. Who on twitter out of interest?
