yep less than the contracted minimum so we still got a payment for games that weren't even televised , a result for the fans as less games moved but club still profited. sky games for start of the season are announced this week , will be interesting to see if we have many for first few months.

and we've got a casino which a number of our imported players have enjoyed frequenting over the years.

it's an interesting debate and I think southampton can compete , it would just take the player to use bit of imagination to get the most out of the area. living in north hampshire / surrey they're under an hour away , can benefit from living in the London lifestyle and play for saints. very few of the players who play for big London clubs actually live in London. Likewise with manchester. look at how many former players / managers still own property in the area. I do think southampton as a city suffers from chronic short sightedness by the council when it comes to planning and development and gunwharf shows what we could have done with a waterfront , hopefully if saints can sustain a good few successful years in the top flight the money and improved image it brings with it will rub off on the city. I've been to football all over Europe and plenty of successful clubs in unremarkable places. getting big support makes a big difference though like Dortmund so would be good to take advantage of other local clubs downfall.

had a business meeting with a couple of lads 5 years ago who had fled after their parents were killed in Zim , blacks "reclaimed the land" in the areaand they were warned they would be killed if they didnt leave. Zimbabwe is now devastated and the same thing could happen in parts of SA

are the sky fixtures being announced this week ?
-
Excellent post. i fear for the future of the country, there will be ethnic cleansing like in Zim and a lot of the white south africans will head to places like Oz and NZ i reckon.
-
I can't see this working as most who would go will already be sorted , we did take 2 travel club coaches to Feyenoord in 2001 but that's a bit different playing at their actual ground and much closer. I know Fulham did a package trip for their Europa league qualifying game away to Amkar Perm in mid-Russia that involved flying out on private flight with clubs players / officials. we could do that to cater for small numbers.
-
his reasonable personal view' is still factually wrong though.

the message here is clearly "re-branding is happening whether the fans like it or not"
-
thanks for the post that's an interesting first hand account and shows up Manji's pathetic know nothing anti-echo agenda. Kerins is a web editor not a sports reporter. I'm going to see Bergen play in a couple of weeks will keep an eye out for Claus heard he turns up at games there ?

it was a decision made a few years ago when we took sales "in house" not to stock it elsewhere, this allows the club to control the supply and price of the product, unlike the England kit that ends up being reduced to £10 in Sports Direct.
-
on what basis are you qualified to make this statement? can you give us an example of teams that do and teams that don't to explain why and where the cut off point is?
-
i think Charlie is struggling to understand this point, he keeps labouring on that it "looks good" but it isn't a saints shirt, simple as that. i refer to the poll at the top of the page, a resounding agreement that this is not what the fans wanted.
-
true , but word of warning don't wear the kit around Bristol Rovers , as we've copied City's kit. despite the fact "we don't follow, we lead and others follow our example" according to the pathetic season ticket pack.
-
don't buy myself but have done as a present , kid sizes, £40 this year is a joke. will encourage something else which is a shame as remember when I was young always nice to get saints shirt to wear over the park for a kickabout
-
ah the good old 10% saving , some on here claimed that would make up for the season ticket increase of £30 , yet even with this saving the shirt still costs MORE than last year's. some saving that is.

ha what happened when the club called him up ? was Nicola on the other end going mental ? does your mate have a season ticket ? wouldn't be surprised if he gets the Illingsworth treatment.
-
the argument that it is "just a kit" is ignoring the discussion on the abandonment of the club history and heritage. this is something many fans have an issue with clearly.
-
you must be really hating the poll results at the top of this page Charlie , keep up plugging the club PR though
-
the poll results are interesting nearly 59% don't like it or intend to buy it, good number of voters as a sample as well. no doubt the club PR machine will claim its a record again like the attendance they made up.
