active saints fans or a mural? provided an effective barrier between fans anyway. dull game but even worse saints atmosphere. sing when we're winning.....
  2. they do always keep some back after the "sold out" sign goes up online. Villa away they had about 20 left the day after online showed as sold out, unfortunately the only people that can get their hands on those tickets are the ones who can go down to st marys as they won't sell away tickets on the phone. joke set up, need to buck our ideas up to be a champions league standard!
  3. Sorted mine out as well. by the way, if you buy in the lower tier, then go back in online it still allows you to buy again in the upper tier it seems. as they have split it the system seems to think upper tier and lower tier are different games.
  4. on the basis of that I'd say he's just what the skates want . he'll treat chanrai like he did Gillet and Hicks and sell the club (ground) for a lower value.
  5. view = upper tier. atmosphere = lower tier.
  6. that is true although they'll still be given a tough game. my spurs mate would like to draw Lazio to repay the warm welcome they were given in Rome earlier this season.
  7. this. although some caution should be exercised as I recall it kicking off in the home end at Elm Park in the FA Cup game of 97 when they beat us 3-1 on a frozen pitch so with the cold weather forecast I don't want history to repeat itself . a mate of mine who goes to Reading says they look completely deflated and have lost the fight that got them results earlier in the season so an early goal for us is what we need. will be good to see Reading go down and resume their rivalry with Swindon and we can once again lay claim to being the only top flight side in the south today / meridian tv region !
  8. have sky said when they'll be announcing the May live games ? must be soon surely ?
  9. looking forward to this one , we've always taken decent support to Spurs and I'm sure this will be a hot bank holiday weekend turn out. I can see it being similar to the end of season game 89/90 season with a 2-1 defeat. good memories that playing Arsenal away in the same week taking loads there as well. even if we are safe by then I hope the players are up for it , we still owe spurs for the cup replay debacle of 95. worth watching Spurs v Basle tonight , if spurs go through our game definitely won't be on the Saturday. I think it would work in our favour if spurs have a two leg Europa league semi final against Rubin Kazan just before we play them.
  10. i think you'll find it was because Spurs WOULDN'T pay that money for him as they didn't rate him highly enough, not that they COULDN'T. Spurs will beat us for any player that they actually want and will out bid us on wagers.
  11. stop being such a lily livered pacifist , a little bit of violence never hurt anyone and In this case it was justified with just cause. the chelsea fan declared war by celebrating and took the consequences.
  12. just look at the pitiful numbers Reading take away , they're core support is small. they didn't get close to selling out at st Mary's this season. I went to unI there and went to the odd game when saints weren't playing , Reading were in league one and get crowds of 8k. there is very little identity with the club in the town you're more likely to see a chelsea shirt
  13. Reading should have just "done a Fulham" and made the other half of the south stand a "neutral" end for this season. i work with a Reading season ticket holder who reckons they didn't sell many season tickets for that stand and for all the big games this year away fans have been noticable in that stand. the "vocal" Reading fans are to the right of the away section (facing the pitch) in the East Stand, the ones to the left of the saints fans where most have bought tickets are the casual premier league fans so it won't be intimidating in there.
  14. I think there are loads of saints fans in the other half of the south stand next to the away end , anyone in there trying not to celebrate if we score will probably find themselves surrounded by other saints doing the same thing !
  15. that's annoying as I dislike Reading , but good luck to Adkins he is a top bloke and I'm sure our fans will give him a good reception at the Madjeski in a couple of weeks. surely he'll lose his first game away at Arsenal on Saturday !
  16. I know that should be a basic bit of info when releasing ticket details.
  17. Being a bank holiday weekend I won't mind if this one changes to the Sunday and it will help us if Spurs have a semi final game a few days later. (not that it helped us for the home game back in October ) think we are already down as a lower cat game for this being £35/£32 for adults which is much better than some of the crazy prices we've had this season.
  18. thanks , although international dates are Friday - Tuesday (not Wednesday) with some playing tonight and Monday like England U21s and Brazil so they'll have recovery time. hopefully European players have knocks and the Africans have travel disruption and return late . really hope Benitez keeps back players for the Monday and we take advantage. Brazil v Italy live on itv4 7.30 kick off tonight by the way.
  19. does anyone have a list of chesea's international call ups and where they are playing ? I know they have a few in the Brazil squad playing Italy tonight in Geneva and Russia at Stamford Bridge on Monday. only friendlies but hopefully tough games and they pick up some knocks.
  20. Oldham v Hartlepool tonight , think we want a home win in that one to help them start pulling away and increase the gap to safety for the skates.
  21. we gave him a contract to be manager of Southampton football club for a set period of time , the club took the decision to terminate that contract early by removing him from his position. Adkins contract should be paid up and he should be publicly thanked for his contribution to our rise up the league's.
  22. depends where you are and the circles you mix in I suppose , Arsenal fan I work with in Surrey wanted QPR to go down due to crazy transfer / wage policy and Harry , but also says it'll serve saints right to go down after the way we treated Adkins . these people aren't local or have any grudge about saints, they just don't really respect us and laugh at the misguided arrogance of our chairman.
  23. If they get through they will not be playing the Thursday before our game, but the Thursday after. hopefully they have a lot of players involved in the Internationals that week on Tuesday 26th March, but you can guarantee lots of chelsea players will pick up knocks and can't play. Russia v Brazil is being played at Stamford Bridge that way as well!
  24. 2-2 draw i reckon, think it will be a good game, forecast for heavy rain at times on saturday can see it being an end to end game with challenges flying in.
  25. i think everyone knows Cortese is stiching Adkins up here, making him wait for his money, he has been treated terribly, not just for sacking him when he was doing a good job and had earned the chance to see out the season, but the subsequent attempt to airbrush him from our history, not to be mentioned in the programme, take posters off fans thanking him, it stinks. Good luck to Nigel and hope he gets fully paid for what he is owed, plus more for the hassle of having to take this action.
