  1. our game at the weekend is on sky as well, so more likely sky will do a pre-match build up and attend the conference with cameras etc.
  2. JRM

    Attendance

no it doesn't at all, the attendance is actually tickets sold not the number of people through the gates.
  3. i wondered this as well, and also think it will be interesting with fans travelling using other peoples season ticket numbers, e.g, a relative who isn't going to go might be happy for their son / brother / mate etc to use their season ticket number
  4. JRM

    Attendance

i think the point he is making was even as a "sell out" the crowd was not a record, yet after the initial annoucement the club ensured the attendance was a PR boosting record by adding a couple of extras.
  5. JRM

    Attendance

i genuinely think they realised it wasn't actually a record and so added a couple to make it so, therefore being able to use the "record attendance" in the reports etc.
  6. stuff like this always makes me laugh for the sheer stupid inefficiency of it all, the "initial allocation" was always going to be too small, and clearly we can have thousands of tickets if we want as they just keep opening more blocks in that stand, so why did they wait to sell all of the tickets before going back for some more? i reckon quite a few will just pay on the night for this one 1109 already sold, should be a decent following up there.
  7. I hate it when they put misleading information on the website, despite Cov sening us just over 1k tickets the end holds over 6000 and away teams can have it all if needed. Leicester filled the whole end first game of the season, http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10269~58432,00.html and had 6,264 fans there, the ticket news confirms it is cash turnstiles on the day costing more. there are direct trains from southampton to coventry and easy one to drive to with the ground being just off the motorway, would be good to take 4000 up there.
  8. Confirmed it is sold out http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2480465,00.html
  9. so because the chinese / indians etc have breed like rabbits over the last 50 years we now all need to pander to their "demand" for our game. i can see a lot more Man Utd fans being attracted to FC United and away from the global commercialisation.
  10. i really don't think people can claim grounds like white hart lane, they still play at the same ground which has evolved in the model of the original, like the Dell did over the 100 years. Just because they have built different stands it is still the same ground.
  11. it sold out yesterday afternoon, wonder how long it will take the club to announce that on the website! Good turnout and hopefully we'll have plenty in the home end as well jumping up when we score live on sky!
  12. i live near Kew and not sure i'd recommend that mate, for a faster train service Richmond to Clapham would be better, or head towards Wimbledon, if getting on the train might as well come the whole way as coming back Thornton Heath to Clapham then Southampton will get you back fairly quickly.
  13. I remember it well, we were terrible with Ulrich Van Gobble at right back, think Trevor Morley even scored for them! Didn't we lose there in the worthington cup the year before as well?
  14. Wish i could have gone to Roker Park and the Vetch Field
  15. Old grounds that are no more that i've done Plough Lane Goldstone Ground Brighton Withdean Brighton Highbury Baseball Ground Ninian Park Filbert Street Elm Park Manor Ground Maine Road The old Den Layer Road Colchester Coventry Highfield Road The Dell Burnden Park also saw Charlton when they played at Selhurst and Upton Park, but doesn't really count as grounds that are no longer there.
  16. there are quite a few smaller clubs, Carlisle played at both old wembley and the millenium, i think Bristol Rovers have as well.
  17. they now only sell online away tickets when they go on general sale as the online tool is so rubbish it can't cope with restricted sale.
  18. Good stuff mate, i remember having a funny day with you lads a couple of years back - if you get there early enough for breakfast maybe give the Varsity a swerve, remember how slow the service was on the way to Swindon last season! think i took a sausage and left the rest!
  19. have you got a ticket mate? not sure if Reading are selling them restricted database or general sale, but there will be plenty of space in the home end, no chance of the away end getting any bigger as there are home fans either side of the 4200
  20. i did wonder this. Who decides how much a "stupid amount of paperwork" is? who is responsible for it? the safety office of st marys? is it just a form to fill out and they can't be arsed to do it, so instead say "we'll save it for some big ones....which will be when exactly? has anyone asked the club directly what the process is to use the flag, and once we know that we can judge whether or not it really is excessive effort
  21. Anyone interested in getting the train to this one, and travelling from London, you can get London Midland services from Euston to Coventry. They are slower than the virgin trains, but London Midland are doing a £10 unlimited travel offer for that weekend so a cheap way of doing it http://www.londonmidland.com/tickets-and-fares/great-escape/ if going by train from Southampton obviously better just going direct on cross country trains.
  22. i'm a busy man, can you summarise it for me?
  23. This sums up everything that is wrong with modern football, "the premier league" chasing "new markets" every pre-season playing pointless friendlies around the world, i hope the other countries grow bored of it and start taking more interest in their own domestic leagues this is exactly what the 39th game was all about - building a brand in emerging markets. f*ck that, give me football on a saturday at a club followed by generations of my family i really couldn't care less if we get back in the prem, Fulham charging QPR fans £55 the other week, what a f*cked up division that is.
  24. I am not overly bothered, but does no one else think it is a bit strange that fans club together to buy what looked like a superb flag, the fund was then "topped up" by the club who deemed it appropriate to take ownership and control of it? so far it has made an appearance at a poorly attended pre-season friendly when many were on holiday, and it's not like we lack space to put it, the Itchen North corner is left empty at every game. would be good to see more of it.
  25. yeah i reckon the late kick off and extra drinking time will make a difference but there are bound to be pockets of travel club types sitting and looking miserable as usual.
