  1. well he still hasn't sorted it out, the beer is still tasteless
  2. i don't remember them, but i remember it being a friday night, they must have moved it for the Christmas shoppers, and we stopped for a pint in the Rocket (for those who remember pub by the station) and a bit of a moody Christmas do was going on, we stood out a bit and didn't look welcome so supped up and got on the train back to London. Used to like going to Highfield Road.
  3. i've heard that James Ward-Prowse used to be a member of the notorious Pompey youth firm in his season ticket holder days
  4. his name even sounds like a firm of solicitors didn't we have a player called Josh Dutton-black or something in the youth set up? he sounds straight out of Eton!
  5. not really, he isn't from North london, he never had an Arsenal season ticket or queued for hours outside Highbury, he probably had Ian Wright poster on his wall and that was it. bit different from being a "fan"
  6. i know what you are saying, but if we were going to go into admin anyway we should have done it properly racking up huge debts and picking up a couple of trophies along the way, would have softened the blow a bit.
  7. we are bound to drop points at home soon, i've been expecting it at every home game for a while, but we keep on winning. you'd have thought over time we'd have drawn a couple , like Huddersfields "unbeaten" 40 odd games
  8. Fans certainly do not have it better now than ever, we are f*cking ripped off at every opportunity, paying extortionate prices for tickets, having games moved for inconvenient tv times, watching games in shlt souless new stadiums getting harrassed by jobsworths stewards while paying £30+ for the priviledge
  9. oh FFS don't start using f&cking christmas as an excuse for attendances already, we are in October. if you can't afford a ticket get out there asking for penny for the guy.
  10. i agree, but you know what i mean, there are certain games, especially up north, where you get a fair few sitting in complete silence. Bristol City away is one of the more rowdy away days
  11. i don't think anyone will be sitting down anyway to require a seat back, one of the away games where the whole support should stand
  12. This Saturday will mark 9 months since we last failed to win at St Mary's in a competitive fixture, quite remarkable and unlike any run of results i can remember since i started going in the mid 80s, for some fans who only do home games it must be hard to remember what it is like not to win! Had a few spare minutes at work and thought i'd reflect on the run of games: 29/01/2011 Manchester United 1 v 2 LOST 12/02/2011 Carlisle 1 v 0 WON 26/02/2011 Swindon 4 v 1 WON 08/03/2011 Yeovil 3 v 0 WON 19/03/2011 Sheffield Wed 2 v 0 WON 02/04/2011 MK Dons 3 v 2 WON 05/04/2011 Charlton 2 v 0 WON 16/04/2011 Bristol Rovers 1 v 0 WON 25/04/2011 Hartlepool 2 v 0 WON 07/05/2011 Walsall 3 v 1 WON 06/08/2011 Leeds United 3 v 1 WON 09/08/2011 Torquay United 4 v 1 WON 20/08/2011 Millwall 1 v 0 WON 10/09/2011 Nottm Forest 3 v 2 WON 18/09/2011 Birmingham City 4 v 1 WON 21/09/2011 Preston 2 v 1 WON 01/10/2011 Watford 4 v 0 WON 18/10/2011 West Ham 1 v 0 WON 29/10/2011 Middlesbrough ? V ? ???
  13. was that the chance when he had TWO players in a better position to lay the ball off two, ignored them both to shoot from the edge of the area with no power. he was useless, i'm afraid. at least the "development squad" games aren't actually limited to u21s so he can keep his fitness up playing for them
  14. Good song, don't hear that one enough nowadays, used to be a favourite of the Archers Road end. Get it going again as a tribute to Ward-Prowse
  15. Disappointing, but as he was only a kid he could still move on from that, depends how into it he was, as he has a double barreled surname and his dad is a barrister i am guessing he wasn't particularly fanatical standing in the fratton end with west-wood ringing a bell, it could be enough for him to never build a true affinity with saints though and make it easier for him to be tempted to move on. hopefully the longer he is here he'll forget his links with the dark side and come to think of saints as "his" club. Won't be easy. i wonder if his Dad will be in the home end at Fratton in December or joining us on our jolly coach tour of the M27?
  16. i see Boro had an "initial allocation" of 1500 from us which they haven't sold out yet, so i reckon they more likely bring 1300 which still isn't bad considering the cost and distance, anyone know if they have opened up more blocks of the Northam for saints fans? i reckon 24,650 my prediction, and it will be 22k for the Peterborough game on the Tuesday, the offer for that one is a bit half-hearted, should have done the season ticket holders can bring a friend for a fiver again.
  17. Not really, you imply we were like a plucky underdog, we were bigger than that, we had signed the EUROPEAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR in Kevin Keegan, we had England goalkeeper Peter Shilton (who made more of his England caps as a saints player than he did at any other club) , we had European football regularly, we were not a "small top flight team" in 1984
  18. i remember very little of the game, just recalled the disappointment at the lack of numbers we took, on what was all in all a terrible season. This year will hopefully be completely different, we'll take 2200 no problem and good chance of getting 3 points.
  19. not quite, i remember our support being rubbish in 2009, we only took 1209 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10280~44655,00.html
  20. i reckon you've got a chance of a few hundred going on general sale next friday 4th Nov, but i wouldn't hang about, call up that morning and i reckon you'll be ok.
  21. i've walked it before and it is a bit of a trek, would recommend drinking at the waterfront (which is going in the right direction) then getting a cab from there, wouldn't recommend going to the pubs near the ground, the locals weren't very friendly last time.
  22. Antonio, as a similar type of player, was much better than Forte
  23. This has been discussed earlier in the week, and now the last time conceded 6 was Sunday v man city
  24. engineering works between southampton and Romsey that weekend but you can do it going from Eastleigh on the four for two GROUPSAVE deal
  25. yes i agree, the next best thing to terracing, you can turn up and stand with your mates and don't have to worry about getting tickets together. 2200 not that big an allocation considering how many we have been taking away recently, would have thought a lot will pick up their tickets before the Middlesbrough or Peterborough games
