the bloke who starts going down the road of attendances gets quickly put in his place by a saints fan who checks average post war home attendances and it shows they only averaged more than us 4 times in 60 odd years, we are clearly a bigger club then them. they have come on a lot with the new ground though, i'll give them that, a lot of interest in that area selling out for an England U19 game on Thursday, plus their away support is as good as ours i'd say.

It is a shabby way to treat away fans, but best thing to do is get on with it i suppose, buy them in person at the Brighton or Hull home games or ask them to bring them up and collect at Donny, although that is inconvenience on the away day in case there are any problems.
-
Let's be honest, you go back to this time last year and so much b0ll0cks was posted on here about them going to the wall by posters who liked to portray themselves as finance experts, administration experts, according to many of you they were going to be "toast" as sour mash says, and free-falling into relegation and down the leagues. Doesn't look like they are doing too badly from where i am sitting, they cheated like no team (other than maybe Leeds) had cheated financially before and they have well and truely escaped punishment so far, just dropping back to where they were. Their first XI is very decent championship side and will more than likely give us a good game, maybe beating us at Fratton, nothing to laugh about just yet in my opinion.
-
Strange post, you clearly don't know them.
-
i'll take the booket off your hands for a tenner?
-
there are plenty - go and stand outside of Ibrox and ask that question.
-
let's be honest, there is nothing more annoying than someone who bangs on about being a "massive" fan and then hardly ever goes to games (when they could afford to) i know loads of people like that, my boss is a chelsea fan, goes on about his family think he is "chelsea mad" but he has a chelsea mug FFS, doubt he even knows how to get to stamford bridge, people like that are "plastic fans" saints have very few of those
-
Can anyone confirm they will let people in for it? Staplewood generally is behind close doors now isn't it? i fancy it, but don't want to go along just to be told can't do it. could combine it with Totton v Bradford Park Avenue afterwards in FA Cup 1st round!! (i miss saints not being in that anymore!)
-
how many fans are going? if only one club represenatitive going it does lose a bit of it's credability, i heard the chief of the local tribe had already made up his spare room for Cortese? he won't be happy and will be sharpening his spear as we speak
-
spot on, so many people have mis-read and assumed they are considered plastic fans for not attending regularly when obviously that is not the point, it is those who simply chose to stop going in bad times and come back when things are good who don't warrant to be considered fans on the same scale as those who stuck it out in league one.

i bloody love Alan Partridge. "Alan Partridge: 'Sunday Bloody Sunday'. What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!". Aidan Walsh: I really hate to do this to you, Alan, but it's actually a song about... Paul Tool: Yeah, bloody Sunday is actually about a massacre in Derry in 1972. Alan Partridge: A massacre? Ugh. I'm not playing that again"

I work with a skate in London, often would say “I can’t get a ticket otherwise I’d be there” yet he did often go to the top games and boast he was there at work as if he was some kind of super fan, I used to love unpicking his stories in front of other less knowing colleagues asking why he wasn’t at certain games that weren’t sold out, or do aways. He hasn’t done a game since they were relegated and pretty much openly admits he won’t “pay money to watch that rubbish” I love having the ground full, and don’t think any saints fan can ever be called a glory hunter, but every team has people like that and you only see then in the “good times” , it’s not like he can’t afford it. On the other hand, I really feel for people struggling financially, kids etc, who would love to be at each game but can’t afford it, for those people I completely understand why you would save your cash and pick and choose – it is a position I have found myself in and wouldn’t want to miss games like Brighton at home that will be a superb atmosphere.

to go even further i would rather have cheaper tickets and stadium sponsorship than expensive tickets but st marys, Newcastle fans have been given some great ticket deals that they will enjoy
-
i was at all of those, Newcastle was a lot more than 100, we had gone up there in Feb for a sunday game on sky that was called off a couple of hours before kick off due to snow, the game was re-arranged for May (1st i think) on a Tuesday and we had about 800 there, good night out afterwards. Sunderland 2003 was tiny following. Bolton cup game was small, but 400 odd
-
i know, but that was a bit more special / unique than being in the FA Cup that Swindon will be in every year!
-
but they haven't even said if tickets will be sold to non-season ticket holders?
-
if we don't sell out it will be very embarrassing and give the skates a lot of bragging rights when it comes to support, 32k home crowds means nothing if we can't take 10% of that down the road for an away game. They will fill their end at our place 100%
-
i can see it happening, teams changing kits / sponsors regularly, my mate is a swindon fan and they have been preotesting about them having a different kit and sponsor for the FA Cup http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-15554583

two non-descript souless names that mean nothing. St Marys has connections with the part of town and our history, i like it. It means something to the club. I like the fact if anyone sponsored us we could still call it St Marys. imagine knowing our ground only by the name of a corporate sponsor? then one day it is gone and there is a gap between a new one coming in (like shirt sponsors) and you are left with a ground with no name.
-
Anyone who thinks it will be an easy win for us is mad, just look at their last few home resultsl 3-0 v Forest 3-1 v Doncaster 2-0 v Barnsley 2-3 v P'boro 1-0 v Blackpool 1-1 v Cardiff 1-0 v Reading they are clearly hard to beat at Fratton
-
you'll have to be quick, for the west ham game they only put these blocks on sale when there was virtually nothing left elsewhere in the ground, can see them selling over the weekend, when was the last time we sold out a week before a home game?
-
Fair play, absolutely brilliant value, wish we had prices like that.
-
i do wonder if it is that close to selling out with 10 days to go until the game why they don't open that corner now? clearly the demand is there for it.
-
Proof that we don't need to fill SMS to expand...
JRM replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
although correct from a Economics / Business studies case study we should not as fans be encouraging price rises, i'd rather have a huge ground we can't fill and be able to afford to go then a small ground with extortionate prices that can only be affordable for the wealthier fan base. i think we could fill 40k in the premier league, partly by increasing the away allocation to 5k -
good one to have in the collection that, there were others who went up, but not many as you say no away fans were allowed, not sure how they got away with that then, even building a new stand you'd have to offer away fans some tickets now. i remember going to Luton sitting with the home fans when they had the away fan ban and ID card scheme
