Jeff Astle headed a really heavy ball for his whole career. The balls nowadays are so much lighter, but whether they can cause damage over a long period, I really don't know.

Jeff Astle is indeed a very sad story. But he spent a whole career heading a very heavy laced ball that would get even heavier when wet. The earlier comment regarding concussion of American footballers is a warning to the dangers of head injuries in sport. Those affected players were running into walls in every game they played.

Cant understand why he wasn't sacked after the defeat v Spurs then. That was heavy enough, masked by 2 errors from Lloris. If they wanted to, they could have got more than 5.
