Sounds like the early symtoms of weedkiller poisoning. Have you upset the missus recently?

Those are the obvious ones and to be fair they probably have security to match. It is the less obvious, softer targets which are more worrying. It will be a lot easier to target one of those as it probably doesn't have the same risk as targeting a military installation, but can still deliver a significant impact to the US. These are a few mentioned; Cobalt mine in Congo; anti-snake venom factory in Australia; Insulin plant in Denmark
-
So now wikileaks has published a list of installations and companies worldwide who are critical to US national security including a number in the UK. This is the sort of i8nformation leak that will get people killed.

Christmas day. After dinner. Coats on. Cigar and bottle of port. Perfect.

In a wierd sort of way, I do miss him.

Quite partial to a Romeo y Juliet Churchill from time to time.

The BBC didn't change the vote but it gave the Waiverers a damn good excuse for them to explain why they didn't vote for the strongest technical bid.
-
After 9/11 when they discovered that they could have done more if the right people had the information available, congress passed a bill requiring that the info be issue to, well, just about everyone. Kinda bit them on the 4rse didn't it.

You are right, however a lot of what is being exposed at the moment has nothing to do with corruption, but is the warts and all thoughts and musings diplomats. This will not benefit anyone in the long run, except, assuming he avoids getting whacked, Assange whose personal capital will increase. At what point does worthwhile exercise of exposing corruption and attrocities get superceded by a desire to stay in the headlines. This is what I think will eventually happen with wikileaks, if it hasn't already.

Exposing incidents like the apache helicopter is one thing. Releasing details about the private fears and concerns of nation states is entirely another. What if iran takes exception that the Saudis were encouraging the us to intervene, and decide to toss a misslie or two in their direction. Or North Korea get truely desperate because their only ally China wouldn't say no to reunification. The other thing that crossed my mind isthat I wonder if Assange spares a thought for the young US soldier who they suspect passed the information over. He, thanks largely to the publishing of the info, is looking at 50 years. It's easy to be a revolutionary and martyr when you don't have to serve the time.

At what point does this bloke have to start looking over his shoulder. Eventually he is going to stitch up someone who makes use of unconventional methods for dealing with irritants.

No this is not another union bashing thread, well it might be if they screw up my plans. I have finally managed to book some flights to San Francisco using some airmiles and a free ticket voucher that I had. I have to say they make it damned hard to do this. Anyway, having secured said tickets I went to reserve the seats. Now from my recollection this used to be free, not anymore. £60 (sixty) and that is not the total, that is each way per seat. So for me and the missus to guarentee seat there and back, they want £240. Not even ryan air has that much brass neck. Very unimpressed by that. On a lighter point, I am looking for recommendations for things to do over there. The rough idea is the napa valley, yosemite and LA with maybe Vegas squeezed in.

Give it a few more years and I suspect that Uk divorce will become less advantageous to the low (non) earning party. and it will be women who push for the change. As more women out earn their partners, there will be a greater reluctance to pay over. we already are seeing that. Recently a prenup was accepted by the courts when a millionairess did not want to pay out a greater ("fairer") share of her fortune than was previously agreed.
-
As andy says, this is not about christian charity, this is about looking after number one - the Uk. I am willing to bet we don't make the same offer when Portugal lines up for a loan.

Have to chuckle at the irony on this thread - politically biased posts debating the political bias of the beeb.

The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)

Is British Rail really worse now than it was when it was nationalised? True the cost of rail, especially at peak times, is quite franklyu scandalous, but the trains are newer, more comfortable, quieter and cleaner and on time more often than when they BR. -
In one of the papers today she was compared to big bird from sesame street.

Does anyone remember these? I was browsing in Waterstones yesterday and they had complilations of various commando comics. Took be back to my childhood. I can remember waiting for gran to turn up on Wednesdays with that weeks new issues. Needless to say the wife was incredible annoyed and then bemused when she found me half an hour later still reading the things. Happy days

Lord young may think that is the case and isn some cases he may be right, however he is naive bordering on stupid if he thinks that any good will come of broadcasting these thoughts to a newspaper. He has been put back in his box by DC and publically reprimanded so he has been punished sufficiently IMO.
