  1. Agree with most of this but if you look at how much Bournemouth have paid for Huisjen, Hungarian LB, Semenyo (Bristol City bloke), all have been at what we consider our safe level. As for bedding the players in to a better core team, absolutely spot on. This is Lawrie’s old heads and young legs policy. Williams wouldn’t have become the player he did, as soon as he did, without Alan Ball. Jimmy Case was a mentor for the next generation.
  2. I like it but…. Dare I suggest that if we were looking to rerun the 1976 home shirt then it might be for the 2026/7 season? We didn’t wear that until after we’d won the cup for the start of the following season. (Charity Shield first game I saw it).
  3. Trouble is the dolts in the design department have no real interest in the history of the club, and affinity with it. They just churn out templates, and try and squeeze a design for the club into that. The concept of the sash I recall reading followed Fitzhugh’s conversation with the CEO at the time Andy Oldknow (I’m sure he’ll correct me if incorrect), and the Danish kit which I liked second time round came at Hummels instigation. I suspect we’d have got more of a bespoke design with Hummel rather than Puma. As a further thought, is there any chance Admiral own the design preventing anyone else turning it out ?
  4. You may be joking, but you’ve only got to look at the state of some rugby teams now, how they take the field as a multi-billboard. I’ve lost count of how many Gloucester have plastered on the front and back of shirts and shorts. Think it’s two on the front, and one on each sleeve, at least one in the back of the shirt. Some of the European football teams seem to have multiple on as well from time to time (taken from YouTube watches, nothing more scientific in the research).
  5. Agree, but so did Hummel to be fair, although it seemed to blend into the kit a bit more with them I felt. But if Puma manage to get the front and the back of the shirt right I’ll tolerate their logo on the shoulder. Probably above another advertisers patch as well. Times we live in.
  6. It’s not a game to set any moral standard to kids growing up (with the fascination of collecting the cards etc if they still d of their heroes). Quite the reverse. Greed, grasping, and celebrity status, where they think the same standards don’t apply to them despite being role models (Rooney prime example, with his granny shagging). Growing up in the 70’s even then you thought Rugby Union showed a better set of ethics. Professionalism and ‘Bloodgate’ have seen that theory go for a bit of a shit though.
  7. There’s a world of difference between the way Martin portrays himself, and the way media luvvies portray him, and reality. Hopefully he’ll end up managing one of their clubs and they’ll find out
  8. Any of the home kits you’ve created would be fine ( providing not a plain back) for a season. Probably all better than what we’ll end up with. Not so keen on the aways, although fully understand the sentiment over the first yellow and blue.
  9. Despite limited resources Police prioritising the really important things, even in rural outposts. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgq3ekyjeveo
  10. Perhaps whatever his agent manages to secure for his release in his contract. It seems that the days of an ‘open market’ for transfer fees are numbered.
  11. I have since found this article about the attempt to rig our kit choice. https://museumofjerseys.com/2020/12/21/honouring-the-wrong-man-the-kit-that-never-was-southampton-2001-02/
  12. Great idea. Players can line the halfway line pre kick off to rival a Haka in this kit. Lyrics: “ Young man, there’s no need to feel down… etc “ We can really revolutionise the matchday experience to show inclusiveness. This followed by taking the knee. We may have been shit on the pitch over the last year but we’ll be out there on our own in woke signalling. Hope Turkish and co approve.
  13. Are they doing anything different to Nixon, Crook et al ? (Good analogy by the way)
  14. The other scouse whine I’ve heard recently is bemoaning the possibility that Trent is good mates with Bellingham who has had a quiet word and ‘tapped him up’ whilst on England duty. samestandardsdontapplytoLiverpool# Volume37 alwaysthevictims#
  15. Did Stephens play in the 0-9 ? That might have made it a souvenir worth having.
  16. In other words, Saints Extra have read on Saints Forum ..,
  17. Blue lettering, 🤔, sight for sore eyes on a Saints shirt. But if they’re paying enough and we go up* the league with it guess will have to live with it *carefully avoid temptation to say ‘sailing’ or ‘cruising’ up the league
  18. They were linked with the 19 year old Spanish wonder boy from Chelsea on loan (Guiu). Not sure they’ll be as depleted as we might hope. But just get our own incomings right and no need to worry about them.
  19. He probably lies there pining for Burnley.
  20. Think you’re right. It was an Easter fixture as I remember.
  21. I think that interview was intended to make Rupert release the purse strings a bit more for transfers. But one thing to credit Rupert for is that he kept control of transfers and funding them during ‘arry’s time with us. HR would have had no qualms about nearly bankrupting the club.
  22. Rangers have had several Spanish, Italian, French and South American players since, managers even, most likely Catholic. ROI and Scots RCs more sensitive there though. They’re now talking to Ancellotti jnr. Without prying into his private life I doubt he’s had a Calvinist, or Scots Presbyterian upbringing. Welsh Chapels, and Methodists seem to escaped their attention.,Perhaps Nathan could be their man.
  23. The beard. It's a giveaway.
  24. I know what you mean, but there were three Cups in Europe for many years, European Cup (for League Champions), Cup Winners Cup (FA Cup or equivalent), and then Fairs Cup/UEFA Cup. Arguably we've still got three competitions although the last two have been cheapened or diluted by opening up the first one to teams who aren't actually League Champions, but League Champions and 2-5 others from the same league. Al in the interest of tv and £££ of course. Reverse argument might be that it gives more lesser teams chance to compete. Wonderful if we ever get there and fancy a midweek trip to Kazakhstan.
  25. Not according to the Gospel of ‘arry. though. I seem to recall he tried to send him on loan to Forest at one point. But don’t suppose that features highly in his memoirs.
