No, RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg have both competed in the same cup, and played against each other.

It's not coming home is it ?

What chance Southgate not being in charge for Qatar ?

Kick-ins instead of throw-ins: a potential rule change!
Badger replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Some people won’t be happy until they’ve buggered about with it for the sake of it. Anyone else remember the tweaking of the offside rule in the 1970’s ? I think it was in the Watneys Cup, or early Texaco Cup. The 18 yard line on the penalty area was extended the full width of the pitch and the player could only be offside on the goalside of this line. In other words couldn’t be offside for about two-thirds of the opposition half. No idea the impact, other than it was rapidly discontinued. -
Wikipedia say 25,000 capacity. Looks bigger in the photo, bit of a cross between SMS and the Riverside

Was hoping SR would buy Le Havre. From a sentimental side the town is already twinned with Southampton, and from a practical view already have a reputation for developing some decent players through their academy.
-
Long term it will hopefully provide the benefits MLG lists, so it’s good news. Short term though most would like to see investment in our team, as the flagship for the SR group. Out of interest, any ideas who the Dutch team we’re linked with is ? And what became of the interest in a Croatian side ?

This is the critical thing really, getting the players in before they go to the Bundesliga, PSV (Sangarre), or to some extent Serie A. Once fully established and proven in those leagues the players we want are mostly out of our reach.

Bit unfair on a when on form Romeu to be honest. Who is available for breaking up the opposition, tackling and gaining possession in Romeu's absence ? Remember the Lawrie analogy someone reminded us of a couple of weeks ago. Not sure about O'Brien but of the others including Armstrong, and especially Elynoussi we seem to have too may 'want-to-be' violinsits, and not enough road sweepers. Svanberg looks as if he could offer something, but in my book we still need a MF enforcer, a Case, or in more recent times a Marsden or a Schneiderlin.

As soon as they’ve worked out the translation between. Danish, Serbian and English I’m sure they’ll put the Five Pledges on the official site.

Close your eyes next time you do it and imagine it’s for the Royal Command Performance. A handshake from Prince Charles backstage awaits.

I think it was rumbles and rumours of attitude and application that led to some of the criticism. Ralph had mentioned his lifestyle or diet and approach in an interview. He seemed to continue this at Swansea in the early stages and was again publicly bollocked by their manager. No matter how he turned it round in the latter part of last season, fact is he wasn’t going to progress with us as things were. Perhahe declined the contract extension and loan option. But getting shot was the right thing, although surprising that we have still got N’Lundulu with us. Agreed, and hope we’ve got a decent sell on or buy back if he improves and we wish to exercise it. But he’s a way off that at the moment, and given the furore over our signing record there would be another meltdown on here if we signed a player from the Championship on the back of one decent run over the end of last season. Good luck to him, but his time had Saints had gone.

Haven’t seen this reported anywhere else. but if true: … award One ITK point to Turkish. Meanwhile somewhere in his own bathroom MLG is looking into the mirror rehearsing the comic timing and delivery of his ‘Coles to Newcastle’ joke for this evening and tomorrow. (It’s the way he tells them).

Some inevitability to this. PSG chasing the holy grail of the Champions League. That’s seen Emery, Tuchel now Poch on his way. Effect of Poch leaving will put a bit of pressure on some EPL managers as he waits in the wings. Come as no surprise to me if he is at Newcastle by Christmas, or even the start of the season. Everton fans will think he’s theirs for the asking, but then some on here will be making out the case for his return also, possibly in the next couple of weeks when they say Ralph can’t attract the players and we need a higher profile manager. You know it’ll happen.

I think you’re twisting history a bit here to honest. Shortly before he left we had reportedly offered him a contract extension making him our highest paid player. It may have worked out well for us in selling him, although don’t think he’s been adequately replaced as yet.

On reading it I thought of Bournemouth as a likely destination

It should be a firmly established principle at Saints, part of the corporate DNA if you like, that we don’t sell or negotiate with North London yobbos. Perhaps call it Rupert’sLaw, after one of his finest outbursts
-
Good research there MLG, thanks for posting it. Notable bit for me, is his emphasis on prioritising setting up the defence. Let’s hope he’s able to put that into shape and practice with us.

This might provide a bit of a charter for regular tweaking to how we look : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61757948

The Danish connection at work. Just by chance or the Rasmus choice ?

Offering McCarthy and Long new contracts we must be run by a bunch of Numbskulls. * *I was a Beezer reader as a child.

went into Saints folklore with that challenge.

Sums it up quite well for me. From the figure reported sounds as if more than Dragowski, and I expect we could find a decent experienced GK in Europe for less than £10m
-
Certainly need to improve the defence with an inexperienced GK. Been thinking about this, and I expect Buffon, Shilton, even Banks would have quit as a nervous wreck by the age of 23 had they been expected to keep goal behind the sort of back four and midfield that Gunn had.
-
We just don’t seem to learn do we ? I'm not convinced we'd go for Pope, but I was expecting a younger Gk (and 25-26 is still young for a GK) with some experience behind him.
