  1. Hasn't this been the post match line for over two seasons now though?
  2. Just bring back the bulk of tha Alehouse team, McGrath, Gabriel, O'Neill, and Fisher.
  3. Nailsworth, near Stroud. Would be a novel draw, away.
  4. Although not a defector himself, he's certainly closely associated with a few of them, so good to see Brendan living up to his own ego, and exiting the CL tonight.
  5. Disliked them prior to that, possibly due to the John Bailey issue, and one or two other minor episodes, but Highbury 1984 cemented their place as c^nts in my book.
  6. Are we safe from the threat of relegation for the next 18 hours ?

    Danny Ings

Did Ings and Austin play together at Burnley ? Interesting though considering the options. Like you not sure about Ings/Austin combination as both would ideally want to be in the box getting on the end of things. Initial thought is that Ings/Gabbiadini might also be similar, neither a holding player or target man but again wanting to get in the box and finish. I'd be happy to see Gallagher given a chance as at least he offers something different. Can't see that happening now though following the investment in Gabbiadini and Ings.

Les Reed looks off the scale on the smugometer, which is remarkable after last season.

See post above yours. Which of these two possible outcomes do you suspect Les has allowed himself to commit to ?

Think you've gone some way to answer your own question. Coupled with an "obligation" to buy. From Liverpool.

This is my concern, along with his injury record of course. As I see it we now have two strikers, Ings & Gabbiadini who are a bit lightweight, both might prosper alongside a Pelle type but not on their own or played together. I'd like to see either paired with Gallagher who offers a bit more height, power and pace. Then there is Austin, again injury prone, but fairly immobile. He might offer something different, and many would like to see him given the opportunity.
  13. So what is the truth about Reed's trip to Spain yesterday ? Did this actually happen, and who was it for ?
  14. Schneiderlin could break up the opposition as well though.
  15. Aren't they different types of player ? Romeu a ballwinning DMF, and the other bloke one who is better passing it around. Think we probably need one of each.
  16. Dendonker is a player I would have liked us to have been in for, especially at the figure now mentioned in the Wolves article on BBC £12m. Then again our last Belgian international signed from Anderlecht wasn't a roaring success, Van Damme, so maybe he won't live up to expectation.
  17. Can't we do a 'job lot' with Celta Vigo - Lobotka, Sisto, & Gomez ? No idea if Gomez is any goods but many a rsident expert on here seems to think so. Perhaps they can keep Boufal, & take FF on loan in exchange.
  18. Going on the Les standard purchase it will be a second hand one, possibly from the Spanish equivalent of Auto Trader
  19. Lamborghini time ?
  20. Ings on a Bosman when he left Burnley , yes. At £20m, - or even £10m - with his injury record and it's out of the question.
  21. Is he suggesting all three coming to Saints ?
  22. Poor reflection on things that we, and possibly the club, are still discussing this with only two days before the window closes.
  23. At one time our fabled scouting might have picked him up whilst he was a £10m player. Of the MF jigsaw perhaps, but we also have pieces missing at RB and early indications are that the defensive pieces don't fit together either. Not to mention the goalscoring piece which has fallen out of the box completely.
  24. Not necesarrily disagreeing with you but with less than a week to act this is highly unlikely. You know the speed at which Les & Wilson act so I can't see that happening. Also, not sure the £ we'd recoup from the sale of one player would generate enough to go on a spending spree.
  25. What a sad end. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-08-04/cliff-huxford-an-appreciation-by-club-historian-david-bull If you need a contrast between players of yesteryear and now, Cliff Huxford became a painter and decorator once his playing days finished.
