Interesting comments. Or another possibility is that we'll hold onto VVD until late in the window to limit the time Cedric and Bertrand have to make their exits. But if they're going to be angling for a move at some stage it suggests Summer 2018 is likely to be on a par with 2014, also after a World Cup, with several looking to exit at the same time. The Eric Black bit is the polarised opposite of what was supposed to be 'coming out of the club' last year though.

Wouldn't be bothered about VVD p!sssing off for £70m*if we could bring in a quality replacement such as Hoedt or Christensen from Chelsea for a fraction of the fee, and have some over for a couple of other decent recruits. *but not to Liverpool.

Subject to Cedric, and VVD coming back into the fold I suspect you could be correct. There are a few known weaknesses though, MF - apar from Romeu - looks weak, and I'm not convinced we can afford the luxury of both Tadic and Boufal on the pitch at the same time. Then of course, there's the GK issue - FF is questionable, and not sure we should rely on the other two as back up.
