  1. Evidence of how far we've come that neither Ottery (wherever he may be) or I are putting forward the name of Paul Tisdale any more.
  2. If as manager of Fluminese your 'Brendandino Rodriguez' had signed three of our key players in 2014 and appeared to be a 'knob' in the process then no, I don't think many would be clamouring for him. I think the resistance to Brendan is largely due to him seeming such an arrogant tw^| rather than his track record. Despite the Rodgers/Rodririguez comparison though, you do have a valid point that there seems to be an expectation of a continental/South American coach being able to bring a better brand of exciting football than one from nearer home. My overseas choice would have been Tuchel based on articles read, but there's little chance of giving up 80,000 crowds, and CL football at Dortmund for us. Howe would be the obvious and ideal candidate, but its probably too obvious, and we tend not to go for the 'obvious choice' and the black box will throw up someone barely considered. On top of which there's no guarentee we'd be seen as such an attraction by EH.
  3. Mark Wotte & Jan Portvliet return ?
  4. Further emphasising that Charlie Austin might be a steal at £4m.* *subject to statyng fit and injury free next season perhaps.

  8. When and where will we hold the candle lit vigil ?
  9. One of them appears to have lost interest... or perhaps that's a simplification
  10. Great idea. More time to allow our 'top, top players' to rest, and benefit our chances in European competions, and the national team. and even more meaningless but lucrative friendlies and tours to Asia and the Middle East.

  12. I thought there were a few more reliable posters than him who had speculated on this at the time.
  13. The Europa winners go into next season's CL , but I think the downside is that 4th place from the league go into the Europa as England are only allowed 4 places in the CL (even if we also win the CL).
  14. No - just a gravelly coarse scouse accent, sweat a lot during the game, and appear for interviews with a tie undone and slacking... before faking indignation ( or lets just say anger so any skates reading this can understand it) at any questions about the shortcomings of the bestest team L2 has ever had. O, and an unhealthy diet at a greasy egg and spoon on the seafront for boosting morale and bonding.

  16. Interesting points, possibly worthy of their own thread but wouldn't take long for it to be hijacked as all the old coals are raked over again. Not sure about would be leavers had NC stayed. Although I accept NC might have put up a greater fight to keep them and resist the inevitable, do you really think Lovren and Nivea Boy would not have had their heads turned by Liverpool's interest (especially once discussed on an England WC tour). Shaw was always destined for a bigger stage, although that might have been deferred. Just how 'loyal' would MP have been to his master once Levy had flashed his 'pieces of silver' ? Forget all the b*llocks about leaving because NC had gone, that was a convenient and face saving 'get out'. Inclined to agrre about the recruitment falling a little, but conversely we've avoided the Ramires/ Osvaldo acquisitions. It seemed to me NC liked making big signings in Italy, despite how drawn out they were even after players stated they weren't interested in coming here. Like you though, I'm not too sure how the Koeman - Black Box issue is worked out.

Or put it another way, no easy games left for us as things stand today (although Villa might be beyond salvation when we play them). Hopefully we'll help scupper Poch.
  18. Wonder if Stuart Hall has any other suggestions as to how the game can be revolutionised? Maybe he should form a think tank with Adam Johnson.
  19. Definitely. MP's mis-management of that was a disgrace, possibly as suggested on here at the time that C^ntese had only given an incentive for a league place, and probably also that MP knew where he was going at the end of the season.
  20. Yes. I recall thinking how lucky Everton were to face Watford in the Cup Final in 1984. Looks like those c^nts might strike luck again with their route to the final. God what a dreadful season if spurs were to win the league, and Everton the FA Cup. Not even the skates missing promotion would compensate for that.
  21. If the FA Cup winners finish in a Euopa League spot (5th or 6th) does that not mean Europa qualification drops to 7th place as well ?
  22. Could now be rearranged as: " decent pro, works hard, fairly average finisher, bit of a pest for defenders". Agree he brings several attributes to the team but his finishing is not one of them and lets him down.
  23. Best admission from one of them for me is: No doubt Cook will look to increase their fat laden fry up diet to get them back moving again.
  24. Nice to see RK acknowledging the fans. I remember going to Stoke a couple of years ago (the 1-1 when Begovic scored), and at the end Poch could bearely bring himself to acknowledge the support.
