Maguire probably the obvious one. From Sunderland Kirchoff looked good last season but has been out of it due to injury this year. Their GK will be sought after but is likely to be a target for Champions League clubs, (Everton also linked and we'll never compete once he's told the history of the dug out pioneers).

Certainly looked more agile in his Celtic days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6sSyDNbqq0

I think this was the official line given by the club. I hope the club have learnt a valuable lesson here - don't allow the kit manufacturer to foist a (second) kit on us, that when it matters, we're too embarrassed to have to wear it in a cup final.
-
Exactly, a turn on a sixpence and shot, or a toe poke from a corner was how we might have won it in the last few minutes. We should know by now that Long was unlikely to provide either and keep it on target.

Thought Wealdstone provided good facilities today. Very friendly club, and the Raider very obliging for photos and meeting people. Well done to Wealdstone, will be wishing them well in future.

Not long home. A good day only ruined by the result, and the collective efforts of Zlatan, the linesman, and Fraser Forecast conceding three of the four shots he faced. Other observations: Disappointed that Gabbiadini was taken off in normal time as he's our only goal threat. On occasion we looked easily outmuscled in midfield, although often countered that with greater guile. Ibrahimovic is a phenominal player despite being a c^nt. Man U fans - poor support, and gobby ****s. VVD would have made a difference. Linesman should be shot. I'm still not 100% convinced by Puel,or that he's a perfect fit for us, but whatever happens between now and the end of the season, he has my gratitude for getting us to a final, and making a match of it, unlike WGS setting out as a damage limitation exercise in 2003. Nice to see on the big screen how Kat embraced some of the players. Hope she doesn't sell anytime soon.

Jimmy Steele "Le Tissier a lazy b*****d, Benali was s**t".
Badger replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
Jim Steele was a hero of mine in the 1970's, so reading that article is a bit disappointing, but his reputation becomes a little tarnished by it no one else's. The club have over the years lauded the 1976 team, I remember seeing a bunch of grey haired and bald blokes on the pitch in 2006 commemorating the 30th anniversary. Whilst we shouldn't forget that team, and they have the admiration and gratitude of anyone who was alive at the time to witness it, there is a limit. Interesting he mentions Hugh Fisher. I remember seeing Fisher in the old East Stand at The Dell. Presumably he'd paid for his own ticket to be there, wonder if Steele has ever done likewise. Anyway, Cup Final awaits, not going to spend too much time reflecting on his views given to the Daily Record for their battered mars bar eating readership. -
I think NC was more guilty of the art of "airbrushuing" from history than the current board.
-
Similar crap was printed about Tommy Docherty's young team and the world they were about to monopolise in 1976 before the match
-
... where he also blames our kit, as it has red on the front of it so was confusing for his players

Getting in the mood for this now. Strangely more relaxed than previous finals but that's probably an age thing rather than confidence. The prospect of Zlatan & Fellani running amok against Yoshida & Stephens scares me sh!tless, but have an annoying sneaky feeling we might manage it.(Don't know why, heart over head perhaps).

I love the state of the pitches they played on in the 1960's & 70's.
-
Surprised Mancini isn't on that list. Think he played for them very briefly.
-
Won't post it on the other thread, more appropriate on yours. Do you think they'll appoint Hoddle ?
-
or putting in another context, a level at which JWP is said to excel in.
-
Chris Baird ? Although you did say debut, as opposed to first team debut

Newcastle, don't mind Brighton coming up to be honest, local game etc leaving the skates further down the south coast hierachy.Reading for the same reason, decent local fixture. If Reading don't do it then Huddersfield or even Norwich. Don't want it to be Leeds, no matter how "big" they are, just can't take to the club (legacy of 60's and 70's perhaps but that's it). Wednesday - no thanks, always a bogey club in the 80's & 90's. Derby ? big "f^ck off" to them (play offs and all that).
-
Doesn't do himself any favours with the sort of feeble performance he puts in when selected though, in particular last week v West Ham.
-
I'd be inclined to see how they fare against stronger opposition than Sunderland before I relax about our current CB options. Lets hope they cope against all that the Mancs throw at them.
-
May have done well in bringing Gabbiadini in but doesn't cloud the f^ck up over CB's.

Ross Wilson appointed as Director of Scouting & Recruitment
Badger replied to Ulrich van Gobbel's topic in The Saints
According to this article, 16 months. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/13/tottenham-hotspur-paul-mitchell-recruitment-notice-period. Not sure when he resigned, only that it was in the press in August. -
Are we saving the nuns for the EFL Final ?
-
Better bring him off at half time then before he gets injured.
-
Very good. You could be a headline writer for a tabloid - if anyone outside of SMS remembers Portvliet that is.
