  1. That is a good choice. Some similarities with Sharp in that he scored the goals to take us up but was never given the chance to prove himself at the top level. Many a rumour that his 'exclusion' once we were promoted had nothing to do with ability etc, but a training ground fracas. Shame. But I think Fisher was a bit of a hero, albeit often an unsung one. He was also the target for 'critics' at the time though. Disagree with this choice as Peach was definitely a hero for a few seasons. Very unlucky not to play for England. One of my favourite left backs in Saints history, only Mark Dennis was better (although Shaw has the potential to eclipse both but that's another matter).
  2. Might be unfair to put him in here, but Paul Gilchrist springs to mind. Bought as a young centre forward to take over from Big Ron as I recall, he never came close to fulfilling that, but Lawrie converted him to a midfield player, and two momentous contibutions spring to mind. A goal of individual brilliance v WBA in a cup replay, and then of course the first goal in the semi-final.
  3. Never mind the youth and experience, "old heads, and young legs" whatever you wish to call it, I think we need to determine who are the "violinists" and who are "the dustbin men" as Lawrie once categorised the perfect squad.
  4. The concern now is whether we can hold onto them, Morgan in particular.
  5. Alf Garnett would turn in his grave at such a suggestion.

Remember to post the link on here.
  7. Probably worth avoiding in truth. Qualifying matches in July, early August. Then a ridiculous amount of matches to congest next season with, in front of paltry attendances on a THursday night. We don't have, and are unlikely to have by next season, a squad big enough to deal with this without it severely impacting on our league form.

Good one ! is that correct / 2nd March falls on Wave a BROWN ENVELOPE DAY ?, I'll have to check my diary. Anyone else aware of this ?
  9. And did he stress the "camp"ness of all this ? Allegedly.
  10. Yeh, I preferwooden f^cker Andy Tw^tsend on ITV pretending we did not exist, and did not play a part in bringing him from non-league obscurity to srtart his career.
  11. Seriously, it's a tragic waste, for a bloke who had everything. Sadly he either didn't have the right advisors around him, or did not listen to them. Wish him well in making a recovery, but sad thing is its only a matter of time until the next time he lapses.Gazza just has a self destruct mechanism.
  12. Take him a fishing rod and a bit of chicken, that'll help him sort it.
  13. Obviously that minor detail was lost on the Post Office then.

Yes, can she cycle up to Cheltenham once a week ?
  15. Clyne " wot, do you mean on your new grey scarf ?"
  16. Not signed by the new manager;not signed by the last one either. Perhaps its the Delgado factor.
  17. Just thinking about it,and off the top of my (beer fuddled) head: CM - Ball/Williams Left - probably Bridge/Marsden in recent times, but Dennis/Armstrong best pairing Right - Golac/Channon (ably assisted by Williams) in one touch passing down the right
  18. Not as good as Dixon/Speedie. All IBranfootsHO of course.
  19. That was in response to a question from Solent's question on the Sir Alex bottle of wine rather than any spontaneous wit on Pochetino's part by the way. Don't want you to think we've got Argentina's answer to Wee Gordon. I heard the interview and am slightly concerned by the translation. In answer to one question he clearly mentioned [ presumably performances and results at] Manchester United and Wigan, yet there was no mention of either in the translated reply. So, can't rely on each reply being accurate.Unless the translator edited out "yes its good to beat those c^nts, especially after not beating those other sweaty, plebby Lancastrian pie-eattting f^ckers at Manchester United, and Wigan..."
  20. Come on , thats well worth a place on any set of stamps surely ?
  21. I always thought his most significant contribution to the England squad was his rap in 'World in motion' British ? Not that either like to think of themselves as such.
  22. If you can't translate it for us what f^cking chance has Pochettino got ?
  23. I heard the announcement on tv that it was to mark the tragic events of the nightclub fire, and today was the 55th anniversary of the Munich air disaster. I suspect it was the Munich issue that triggered someones inevitable response. And it was twenty years ago,February 1993 (although not on 6th Feb) that Bobby Moore passed away.

I wondered if that charming song would make a return. You didn't lead a chorus of "we're having a party, when Redknapp dies.." earlier in the season did you ?
  25. Both are left footed player, and from what I have seen of Yoshida, and read about Forren, both more likely to excell playing alongside a bigger, bruiser of a CB - young version of Jaidi is what was needed.
