Just to ammend your comment - I would say, with the quality we have up front, more shots then most teams, etc. we should score more goals more often. it often does not happen that way. Also agree with your last point by the way.
-
Agree with DM that two points lost, against ten men.

Wish we had a capable goalkeeper of doing simple things like taking a corner when under pressure... it seems to make a difference

Now thats an intersting one. I had forgotten about Mick Pickering, an outstanding player in our promotion year and a player I thought would go on to make the grade, but it didn't happen and as you say he rarely got an opportunity. I thought his time with us was cut short due to a car accident, again the "story" doing the rounds .

And I said late November. I must ahve been three weeks out.... not bad after 35 years, so don't think I'll be joining Alzheimer Saints just yet.

Sad but true. A damning indictment about the state of English football, the Prem league etc.

Definitely an OG from seeing it on Saints Player.

[quote=Crazy Diamond;1271103 Both stories I've never heard of, I'd love to know more. Its a long time ago now, but from memory. We played Blackburn away late November, in a pretty fiery match we had two players sent off, Ted MacDougall and a young Steve Williams. Their left back John Bailey, a curly headed scouse bastard was involved in both incidents. Osgood was said to be p!ssed off by the whole thing - which I assumed was the play acting or whatever - and hardly played for us again after that. We lost 2-1. Bailey must have been amongst the most hated players ever to return to The Dell. The crowd crucified him whenever he returned ( only Mike Summerbee and Rodney Marsh received abuse like it before). I still detest the sight of him and in particular his Everton team from 1984 but thats another story. Funnell was signed from non-league. Looked a good goalscorer/poacher and was important in our promotion push. After promotion he did not seem to feature, question as to why? Of course Lawrie may have realised he was not up to First Division football, but rumour or story that did he rounds was that he had a fall out with another player on the books that resulted in a hasty departure. It may of course have been fanciful b0ll0cks. I suspect Fitzhugh or another may know a little more as to whether this is fact, fiction or somewhere in between.

Paine was in fact born in Winchester. Over to the OP to confirm if that qualifies or not.

Good imaginative piece, but -without wishing to be too pedantic - a couple of points of order: Didn't Osgood leave in about November after the Blackburn away furore ? Boyer was here all season, so hopefully Sharp will take the vital Tony Funnell role in scoring the goals to take us up ( but try not to smack Adkins son in the gob pre-season if you wish to play in the top flight) With all due respect to Lallana ,Alan Ball has had no equals since leaving Saints So which ground can we take three sides of the stadium in (as Luton) and where will the wall collapse this season ?

If I knew who Bobby Brown was I might share the joke.

The thing Saints have to fear most in any game, is themselves .... not performing as they can. Play to our potential and we'll be fine. But another 'Bartday' in goal, defenders, midfielders going missing, Guly not fancying it, or forwards trying to over pass and wallk the ball in to the goal and we'll struggle whether its against Doncaster or West Ham.

Orcheston, which is north of Saisbury.

Shame we did not put that to the test at home to Blackpool.

Someone on a thread raising the question of no GK on the bench, suggested Richarson is the most likely candidate.
-
Yes of course, the shouting and remonstrating on the touchline. Wonder if the FA offer courses in this technique ?
-
Out of interest, what capacity will this stand provide ? As I read this it is essntially a new upper tier to the existing riverside stand.

Probably the only person without a job available at the time. And of course he's a "name" , so must be good and beyond critiscism.

Thought the rsponse to their end of season cruise quite amusing:
-
Don't think it will be unchanged team. I expect Hammond back in CM and possibly Puncheon for Guly.
-
Will the arab build Michael Jackson shaped floodlights on each corner of the ground too ?

Suarez refuse to shake Evra's hand. Has Dalglish gone mental?
Badger replied to TopGun's topic in General Sports
Whatever dispute Evra and Suarez may have, and they are both knobs in my view, interesting that the current manc shop steward Ferdinand also refuses to offer his hand to Suarez. What has it got to do with that bastard to get involved, other than seeing himself as a self proclaimed spokesperson for all black people in the universe ? Remarkable how Rio gets involved in all these episodes. -
Tell him to f^ck off and come back when he can string a sentence together in audible English... Like 'Arry he leads a charmed life due to his image portrayed by the media. Not a coach, not a manager. Would not want him at club level, certainly not the national team.

Maybe he isn't yet fully fit and Nige is saving him for West Ham?
