Re QPR. Hughes is straight out of the Bryan Robson School of Management , spend big on average players to achieve mediocrity at best. Agree about WBA, Hodgson is a shrewd manager( in stark contrast to Hughes) who does not need to fritter millions for the sake of his own ego.

The fact we appear to be looking at a loan CB coming in suggests we are not looking to buy in this position, or we'd have been setting the deal up sooner. My intrepetation is that Hooper is a little more mobile, and as a couple of years younger probably offered the longer term option. Sharp is certainly proven at NPC level, and like Lambert may yet take the initative at a higher level when he gets the chance (ie next year in the prem with us).

Can't help but think Saints have done all they can on this one, and are hoping Hooper might - in the wake of failing to get his new contract sorted - hand in a transfer request. Unfortunately Hooper and his agent have not read the script.
