Season 2016-2017 My 57th Season following the Saints one of the Best
Lord Duckhunter replied to John B's topic in The Saints
Boscombe away was great, as was first appearance at Olympic Stadium. Watford, Sunderland & West Brom away were as good as any away game under Koeman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
To judge him at Hull is pretty harsh as they're a shocking side. My objection to him is the negative style he plays, if the Puel out brigade think we're negative this season, wait till he's manager, and his links to Jorge Mendes. When he got the Hull job journos we're discussing the appointment on Sunday Supplement, saying that Mendes had been touting him around English football for months, as he wanted someone at a club he could get players in to. Recently I heard another pundit stating that "the truth about Hulls transfers in Jan will come out one day". I don't know how many of their Jan signings were Mendes clients , but it looks like he's trying to use Wolves in the same way. I'd rather not take the chance he'd have undue influence on the club. Season 2016-2017 My 57th Season following the Saints one of the Best

I done roughly half the away games & have a ST each season and I'd say this season has been pretty good. Under Ron & Poch there were some woeful away performances, we've been far more consistent away from home, but home performances have been average. We played really well in the San Siro & the cup final and really should have won both. Personally I feel that if Boufall produces next season, we could be a really good side, we just miss that bit of magic. I don't hold out much hope & if I had to put money on it would say he'll end up like Gaston. The slight hope I have is Riyad Mahrez took a season to get up to speed with English football. He was shiete the season before under the same manager. Perhaps sheite is a bit harsh, but he was no better in Koemans first season than he has been in Claude's . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank god you're not in charge of our recruitment. You call Gabbi a "flash in the pan" & call for King. I presume from that you don't consider King a flash in the pan. Before this season he'd played 123 league games and scored 12 goals, how can you be sure this isn't his "flash in the pan"? I don't call one season of 16 goals a "proven premier league goal scorer", and ****ing Defoe is too old & will want too much money. As for Niasse, he was ****ing woeful at Everton, again is his Hull form, if you can call it that, not a flash in the pan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm going to wait until we've lost a cup final & are midtable, then I'll start one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think Long could do a similar job for us that the Japanese bloke does for Leicester if we wanted to play 4-4-2. He works so hard he can get back & make it a 5 when we're defending, but quick enough to get up & support Gabbi when we break quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He had plenty of chances early in the season and missed again and again. He had more playing time than Charlie at the start of the season. The only reason he didn't get playing time is because he's pretty useless. Bournemouth aside he hasn't deserved to play. We're not a ****ing charity, time to get rid. So? It doesn't matter who you beat, just where you finish in the league. It seems to me that the Puel critics want to judge him by a different criteria than previous managers. You have to win well, you have to score lots of goals in defeat, you have to attack the big boys, you have to jump up & down on the touch line & crack jokes at press conferences. League position doesn't matter, it's who you beat that counts. And any wins don't count because the opposition were sheite. In my opinion there is not one person who wouldn't have settled for 9th & a cup final ,2 games out,had Ron remained Manager, not one. Had he done so without Mane,Pelle,Big Vic & VvD for a third of the season, they'd be singing his praises. People are so fickle and deluded. The last 3 years have spoilt a lot of our support. I used to think, with the odd exception we were a pretty grounded bunch. I'd laugh at the deluded fools that follow West Ham and the style they have to play ,the backward looking Liverpool supporters, Evertonians thinking they're still a massive club , Spurs with all this "glory"pony. You know what, we're as ****ing bad now. I'll tell you what, if we sack Puel after finishing 8th/9th/10th & a cup final people in the game, pundits & neutrals will all be saying WTF, who do they think they are. Good result. As I've said all season there's nothing wrong with our away form & performances, in fact performances are more consistent than they were last season under Koeman imo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good football for that goal, great reaction from Claude as well. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Long & JRod (or at least his dad) appear to have a lot to say this season, time to do their talking on the pitch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From day one that the Everton leak came out sources were stating that Koeman was interested & Everton were confident of getting him. That didn't come out of thin air. There is no way Koeman would have stayed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So if Puel goes these senior players will stay? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Before the start of the i would have said midtable plus a cup final. Of course now we've got that, it's not good enough. After seeing Poch finish 8th with no cup final, Koeman 6th with no cup final in their first seasons, I expect Puel to finish top 6. Even though he's got a far worst set of players, i want that . Unless Puel finishes top 6 and plays football like Barcelona I want him out. I pay money to attend games and I deserve to get my money's worth. If I don't like Puel someone else should be appointed and if I don't like them, sack them as well. I demand a top 6 finish AND great attacking football . I called for lawries head in 1973 and had the board listened to me, we'd have won more than one poxy FA Cup. **** me, we're Southampton and midtable plus a cup final is unacceptable. A labour spokesman was asked about a 2014 film of Corbyn calling for NATO to disband on the BBC today . What had changed ,opinion or the facts he was asked. He answered what had changed was Corbyn "wasn't party leader in 2014". Pretty much sums this principled man up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So Corbyn has announced today he's not a pacifist. This principled man who says what he believes is not a pacifist. My opinion is that it's ok for a pacifist to run for PM, but a pacifist pretending not to be one, just to run for PM is pretty unprincipled Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My mates a Leicester fan & his take on Ranieri is this; They had a good end to the season winning game after game to stay up. Ranieri just took over & changed nothing. Ranieri was laid back and less intense than Pearson & they were on a roll. They had signed Kante & Ranieris management style brought the best out of Mahraz. Once the pressure hit, the laid back style was perfect. He deflected pressure from them, stayed calm and allowed the players to play in a relaxed manner. According to my mate they would have started as well under Pearson but would have blown up when the pressure came As Pearson would have cracked and his intensity would have hampered the players. They would not have won the league without Ranieri, he was perfect for that moment in time. Fast forward this season and Ranieris style that won them the league was his downfall. They needed bringing down to earth, they needed the arses kicked, some thought they were billy big balls. Ranieri was completely incapable of managing the situation and started to panic & tinker , this led to a downward spiral that took us to where we are now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
