I don't believe the SNP will form any sort of coalition with Labour. Their whole strategy is that anything good is down to them in the devolved parliament and anything bad is from Westminster. If they have the ability to influence Westminster and vote things down , eventually this approach will fail as they can't really complain about things they could block. Their ideal scenario is clearly another Tory government but a labour majority

The quickest way to stop blokes singing " get your tits out for the lads" is to get them out.

Rachel Reeves did exactly the same thing on QT. She was banging on about how she " only" worked for her voters , until Dimble pointed out she had written a book, for which she was paid . She claimed that " didn't count" as a second job.

The Tories have made a political calculation that avoiding a debate will give them some political grief now, but are willing to put up with that to close down the debates. Its not a question of being scared , but of strategy . Milliband will go into the debates as a loser, they don't want to take the chance of people thinking he's not as bad as they thought. Cameron could still win any debate , but milliband get the boost by just appearing " normal" . They want the British people to think its unthinkable that Ed could become prime minister but by debating him head to head you're actually elevating him to prime minister material. Portillo had a theory on " This Week" last night. He claims Ed is poor when interviewed by political journo 's like Boulton or Neil . If there's no debates he'll have to get his face on TV with these interviewers more. If there is a debate it'll take over that role, and get him into voters living rooms ,without facing interviews thst he always comes over poorly in.

I don't share your politics Pap , but you are spot on here . Nail on head .

IMO unskilled wages are kept low by too much supply and government subsidies . Why on earth will anyone pay unskilled labour anymore when government will top low wages up and immigration will ensure the supply . Nobody is blaming immigrants , however you have to face the fact that they affect wages. Now you could think having immigrants keeping wage levels down is a good thing as it boosts the economy and helps business profits . That's fine and a legitimate argument , just don't call people who disagree with you racists or little englanders . The more immigrants prepared to work for low wages will have a direct effect on the amount employers are willing to pay

I thought Forster's time wasting was horrendous in the last few mins last night. Really surprised Palace didn't make more of a fuss. It obviously didn't last as long as Fosters , but then we weren't in the lead as long. I presume the moaners on here were upset about it, or is our time wasting OK?

The problem is that the free movement of people is a fundamental part of the EU. " One of the corner stones of " ever closer union " is that movement of people is the same as we have in the UK. We can not limit the number of jocks that want to move to England and they want Belgium's, Greeks , and Dutch afforded the same rights. You're looking at it as a Trading Bloc , whereas in reality the establishment want a federal country. Texans don't limit the amount of Floridians that can work there and that's their ultimate goal , a united states of Europe.
-
You have to ask yourself why Bob Crow and Tony Benn were against the EU. It wasn't that they blamed immigrants or that they were swivel eyed right wing loons. They understood that unlimited immigration from EU countries affected the working man's pay and conditions. All the unskilled working age man has to negotiate with is the withdrawal of his labour. Not in the " strike" sense , but in the " I'm not doing that for that pay" sense. Once you allow immigrants to fill that gap, there's no need for the market to adjust and pay more , there is more supply than demand, but it is an artificial supply. Supply and demand runs the capitalist system, but at the moment its skewed in favour of business. They are not subjected to the free market labour rules because there's too much supply.

Why don't you answer the question ?
-
So how's it going to change when you're relying on government and goodwill of the employee to change it . When immigrants are willing to put up with all that , in return for living in this great country , it'll never change .
-
No, but what you can do is address the issue that stop people doing so . You may need to pay more, change the " culture" of the industry , change the terms and conditions or hours . Address any training needs , or funding . However , if you can import people willing to put up with it all , what's the incentive to change ?
-
Then there is a problem with training or educating enough Brits to become doctors. However, what's the point in addressing that when we can get them from India, Nigeria, Poland ect ect
-
When you're short staffed the reason is either a lack of training or under paying the staff. Because of immigration there is no need to address either.
-
I agree with all the moaners on here. Had foster not wasted so much time Pelle would have had more time to miss at least 2 more sitters. The simplest way to stop the opposition time wasting is to score first.
-
And what about the countries they leave behind **** em , let's get the brightest and the best over here paying taxes to look after our elderly, and boost our economy and **** their own people. Why train thousands of doctors and midwives when other countries can train them for us. We'll just nick them once their home countries have spent money training them. Hell , its no it like India or Poland need skilled medical professionals. Let's have thousands of our own youngsters out of work and get young immigrants to pay the taxes that pay their benefits.

So you think that everybody in the world should have the right to live in the UK?

West Brom 1 Saints 0 - Post match thread
Lord Duckhunter replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
When you're struggling for goals you can't go giving away one at the start, which we've now done 2 games running. Poor free kick given away by Gardos , then a poor clearing header. Clynne , Mane and Pelle particularly poor , pelle had 2 sitters, he's shot and needs leaving out. Bertram played well and fair play to Ron for making the change of system early. At the end of the day , we were too weak. I thought we were very soft, being bullied off the ball and giving it away in their half too easily. Another battle ahead Tuesday and a few , Mane in particularly, need to man up. -
It doesn't really matter the rights and wrongs of immigration or whether the uk is too crowded. The simple fact is that it should be for the British people to decide how many people settle here, just as it should be for the German people to decide Germany's immigration policy or the yanks to manage theirs. The establishment have given away that right and therefore it doesn't matter a jot what any British MP, any British voter or any British citizen ( or subjects as I believe we're still defined as) think. There are 26 countries whose citizens have as much right to live in these fair islands as you or me, and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it.

I'm heading for the jewellery quarter , decent real ale pubs .

I read a few articles on a similar thing years ago. Then it wasn't called a citizens income and the idea came from the right of politics. It was basically that the state paid everybody a set amount , and it was then up to the individual to use this amount to buy insurance against unemployment , health insurance , and pay into a pension for old age. There would then be no welfare state , and it would be cheaper to administer than means testing everyone . It was an interesting idea for a discussion but the practicalities are that some people will spend it and not use it as a safety net. It could only work if everybody in the country was sensible and understood the importance of saving for a rainy day. The Greens seem to have taken this idea from a " small state" and money saving one into a lifestyle choice one. Their ideas is you can drop out of work or work less because of it, and we'll still have a welfare state. Therefore under them it'll always be too expensive in reality, whereas the " right wing" version was" allegedly" cost saving ( providing everybody used it for the purpose that was intended)

Its 2015 , and in 2015 its not for people who use a word to decide whether its offensive or not . If people are offended , then its offensive. If I called one of my employees that particular word and they complained I'd face disciplinary action which would probably lead to the sack . If that particular person had downs or another disability there would be no doubt at all, I'd be straight out the door.

His movement is appalling for a modern centre forward , he just plays in straight lines, never runs the channels and never ever pulls off onto the full backs. You don't need to be a speed merchant to have movement that'll worry centre halves , Rickie was one paced as is Andy Carroll , but they don't just stand up against the centre half and make it easy for him . Long would have caused their back 3 more problems than he did yesterday , it was all so predictable . All Skertal had to do was stand in the same area and head the ball away time after time after time . He was never made to turn , never dragged into areas he didn't want to play in . Long would have moved him about more , him and lovren are a disaster waiting to happen when they get pulled into the channels , but we made it oh so easy for them . He needs to show a lot more movement and savvy to be sucsessful in this league . After a decent start he's getting sussed out a bit , when this happens you need to adapt and come again , I'm not convinced he has the ability to do so. I hope I'm wrong

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-2 Liverpool
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Taken me this long to have the heart to read this forum . Really frustred and disappointed . The pens, I thought both the early ones were , but didn't see handball from the corner . I also thought the fonte one was as well . I haven't watched any replays so just relying on what I saw. Graham Poll was on H&J and he said second one of ours and Fonte one were "stonewalls " and bad refereeing errors. As for the game , they were there for the taking , but when you're struggling for goals a stunning early one against is a real kick in the balls. We played ok until the final 3rd , where we just lack that extra quality the other top 4 chasers have . The free kick where Morgan didn't shoot summed it up for me . For the first time this season I thought Ron picked the wrong side . I'd have had Reed instead of jwp , and Steve Davis had a poor game . -
There was a Ringwood Tory deputy mayor who used the N word during a council debate. Not even reported by the main stream media, can you imagine the fake outrage had it been a ukip councillor . The arguments will never be addressed because they can't be addressed. The establishment can not admit they are powerless in many areas of our lives because to do so would admit they have given areas of our sovereignty away to a foreign body.
