Correct, I always adjust my drinking around kick off times. This game kicks off 2 hours 15 mins early so I'll arrive in alehouse 2 hrs 15 mins early. The only exception is Sunday 4pm kick off , when I still leave home for 3 o'clock kick off. As Mrs duck says " football is a pub crawl with a match in the middle. I've spoken tonight to my mate who is a manager at said DIY shop , we were arranging a good drink up at the weekend , but I did mention this to him. Company policy is not to dismiss for gross misconduct without an investigation , followed by a formal meeting . This applies to any length of service , however any right of appeal is subject to length of service and there won't be one in this case. If they haven't dismissed on a gross misconduct basis , they can just pay him a months money and again there is no appeal , but more importantly no investigation , formal meeting or anything similar . They can just send a letter stating that they are terminating his contract and paying him a months notice. This letter should not mention any gross misconduct and the can not mention gross misconduct on any reference or further communication . In your sons case it looks like they've taken the easier option of just terminating contract , with notice . The only redress if if he feels he was discriminated against because of race , gender or sexual preference . If they haven't sent him a letter or paid him a months notice then they have broken company policy and although it won't get your sons job back , will get someone in trouble if you complain .

Which area was the store in? That particular company have quite a good name in terms of retail employment, so I'm quite surprised they've treated him like this. I do know that they are restructuring their own HR and taking them out of stores, giving the management more autonomy over this sort of thing. I'm amazed there hasn't been anything in writing . Was he on a fixed term contract or a permanent one.I personally know the manager of the store near me and they only take people on for 3 months, before deciding whether to then make the job permanent? Are they paying him any notice? As people have posted already , there's not much you can do in terms of employment law, but this company have got a process to follow regardless of length of service. If they've moved away from that process then the manger will find himself/herself in bother. Its not going to help your lad but may stop a repeat. Was it the top manager who sacked him or one of the lower tier , if you wanted to take it further I would write to the immediate boss of the person that sacked him copying in head office HR.

It's you lefties that are stuck in a time warp . An nhs stuck in the 50's , no private money or god forbid any form of insurance . Stuck in a backward bloc of nations , nothing sums up the 1970's nature of the EUSSR than the CAP. Its not cyclical at all. As Batman said England is clearly a right of centre country. Whenever labour tack to the left , whether under foot, Kinnock, brown or milliband they lose. Do lefties realise the Tories won the election ? Becoming one of the only governments that increased their majority . Just walked the dog listening to " any questions" , listening to Shirley Wiiliams telling us what the country wants , is laughable . The country wanted her sorry party kicked out and the government to move to the right . Every time her , Charles Clarke or a leftie snp bloke attacked the Tories , or made a point about bedroom tax or ending austerity , cheers rang out from the audiance . The voters knew about the bedroom tax, knew the Tories were cutting welfare by £12 billion and they voted for it. They have a mandate for more welfare cuts, for more austerity , for an EU referendum can people like Williams stop telling us what the people want , we've just asked the people and they've told us. Even funnier was listening to " any answers" afterwards as I was driving home . I nearly had to pull over I was laughing so much . God, they should have given out the sameritians number afterwards . That wasn't the performance of a group of players worried about letting the manager down.

They had no choice whatsoever if they wanted any credibility at all. They have spent years begging the British people to deliver them a hung parliament, so that they could hold the balance of power. To have that result and then walked away would have been bizarre .

They had no choice than to go in with the Tories, this " sacrifice" nonsense is pony. Every election I can remember they have gone on about a balanced parliament and them holding the labour/Tory to account. They have gone on and on about a hung parliament being best with 2 parties working together, so to have had that situation and then not gone into government would have been bizarre. They would have had no credibility had they stayed in opposition, once the country had given them what they'd been banging on about for years and years. They were punished because the country saw what treacherous two faced liars they are. They had a sense of entitlement, that they should always be part of any government. People like Ed Davy & Vince Cable really think they know best and anyone who disagrees with them is some sort of idiot. Most of their votes were only ever people voting against another party . Round here their voters were anti Tory voters, not lib/dumbs. Their level of support is now about the right level . They get wiped out in pr European elections and now they've lost the protest vote are at the correct level.

Awful performance, when the second one went in I actually thought it could be 4 or 5 . For me there's worrying signs that Ron is a bit like Michael laudrap , great first season at Swansea but seemed a bit too relaxed with the players. Maybe his calm presence and reputation was what was need early on, but I hope he can also dish out the hairdryer , because 7 or 8 needed it yesterday.
