I agree completely, I spent 4 years working there in the 80's and found them to be polite and sincere . Some Brits love to take the **** out of this "have a nice day" culture, but I found that Americans really do mean it, when you think about it, what a nice way to say goodbye to someone, yet for some reason it's used as a stick to poke fun at them. The big thing I noticed was the optimism and the can do attitude most had. My neighbour was a Geordie, and despite never having done removals before, bought a van on HP and decided to try and do removals. All the neighbours and guys we knew from the bars were all "great idea man" and said they would recommend him and pass the word on. In this country it would have been "you daft ****, what do you know about it". I know that's a bit of a generalisation, but I really was struck on how positive they were about his venture and how much they wanted him to succeed. Generally, they don't know a lot about Europe, but always seemed keen to ask about England when you first meet. The only thing that used to **** me off was half of them thought I was Australian.

If I was an Arsenal fan and wanted this guy to sign, I'd be pretty ****ed off if he went to Southampton.

Should our captain be speaking of "winnable games"?
Lord Duckhunter replied to pap's topic in The Saints
Bearing in mind we failed to win any of the 6 "winnable" games against Norwich, Sunderland & West Brom last season, I'd rather the skipper kept his mouth shut. -

Anyone on zebra finance who wants to change the dd date its really easy. You have to wait until June payment goes out and can then change subsequent dates by calling them. I called them a minute ago and sorted it, with me they took Junes payment by debit card and changed payments from 23rd to 1st of month, but you can wait until first payment has come out if you want.

The 'who's been rejected for season ticket finance' thread
Lord Duckhunter replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
They seem pretty loose around lending policies, they say in a their q & a section that they "may run credit checks". Maybe its your address or something trivial. They also say contact them if you want them to reconsider. I was looking up changing the did date and its all there. -
They think that right wingers only lean to the right because they're not enlightened enough. It's a typical insulting retort perfected by the BBC. It's amazing how many of the enlightened left accept honours and bow and fawn to the Queen. The great leftie slogans of equality seem to melt away when it comes to the Queen and accepting honours bestowed in her name.
-
As a leftie I would have thought he would have been anti our corrupt honours system.

They've spent a hell of a lot of money in fees and wages, granted not as much as the Skates, but a hell of a lot for a club of their size. They are Pompey lite.

Wrong answer, you'll get called evil by Labour politicians. The best bet is to donate to the Labour party and they'll give you advise on tax "efficiency"

I remember when there were people hailing Francois Hollande's new attack on the rich and how he was going to raise the tax rate to 75%. How did that work out, popular is he? Milliband, Balls and co seem to have abandoned their love of him and embraced the coalitions policies. Cuts to child benefit, welfare caps and now an attack on universal benefits for pensioners. They also seem to be embracing the Laffer principle with their call for a cut in VAT to increase tax revenues. They wont even commit to raising the top rate of tax back to 50%. The reason is obvious, because their oppostition was just that, opposition, they didn't really believe it. They knew all along that they couldn't justify paying millionaires child benefit, knew that the 50% rate bought no extra money in and was just a trap set by Gordo for the Torys. The problem is they took people like Verbal in with their cynical posturing and he really does believe in the nonsense Utopian fair society lefties like to dream off. Back in the real world, the rich have never contributed more to the Revenue's coffers, too many people receive welfare and Gordon Brown left us ill equipped to deal with the crash and therefore ****ed the finances for a generation.

I feel sorry for the blokes that ****ged her, she's no oil painting.

Saw him back in Oct, sadly he's not going to be with us much longer. There was talk of a book, but don't know how his illness has affected the writing of it. If you get a chance watch oil city confidential, lots of stories and explanations of the way they influenced the punk generation. Underrated band that went to pot when wilko left.

I'm not a mail online reader, but i must say there's a couple of them that i would. The photographer missed a bit of a trick, with all that water about thought he could have had a few more with the wet t shirt look.

God I am glad that Adkins left...how embarrassing!
Lord Duckhunter replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Nigel was a bit of a plum, but he was our plum. He gave me 2 unforgettable seasons and I only have positive memories of the guy. That said I just get the feeling that his style is not really suited to the premiership and the big business that its become. Its sad in a way, but all these homespun Nigelisms , have a limited lifespan. It was time for the club to move on, here's hoping for a home cup draw and a welcome back to nigel next season. -
A serious post - the club acting disgracefully.
Lord Duckhunter replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
My mum worked for social services for many years and her job involved placing people with these terrible illnesses in care homes, in the vast majority of cases it is incredibly upset setting for them and their families, so I really feel for the op and can understand why this action by the club leaves such a bitter taste in the mouth. I'm sure that its just an unintended consequence of their eligibility test coupled with some jobsworth with no empathy or common sense (at least I hope that's what it is). I just hope it can all be sorted quickly and with no more upset. -
Mine is showing now, so happy days. Just need to see if they are carrying over last seasons away tickets or starting afresh again. Away details have disappeared from history.

Saints: "2nd best fans in the Premier League"...
Lord Duckhunter replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
It may not mean much to some of the posters on here, but im sure it does no harm when NC's trying to get blue chip companies to sponsor stuff or become involved. It also helps when discussing stuff with the council, police and maybe the football authorities. I'm sure the ml trust also appricate their fathers legacy being built in a decent , friendly environment. I maybe old fashioned but I don't think there's too much wrong with this. -
The problem I have is dopey mrs duck booked hols this year and I miss open Ing day. Don't really want to miss a home game, but don't want to be behind 8 ball with future away tickets. I'm hoping Arsenal away which I ****ing hated last year (not just the result, the whole experiance) but attractive enough for my elder son to be able to get a couple of his mates to use mine and nippers tickets.
-
So much for the points system. I wonder how they're going to allocate tickets for the first away game of the season.
-
Has anyone using zebra had their renewal confirmed by the club. I renewed the nippers by card and it shows on his transactions and he received an email from club. I renewed mine with my unique pin and got a message saying I'll receive dd info in a week , but still not showing as renewed and nothing from club. On a seperate note, are last seasons away games still showing on peoples history, mine is just showing the £1.50 charge for each ticket, but not the actual ticket. Is this normal

Talking of Europe and austerity. I thought the French approach was going to be the way forward, I remember Labour MP's queuing up to praise Hollande. Red Ed praised Hollande for his "determination to help create a Europe of growth and jobs, in a way that is responsible and sustainable". Before adding "This new leadership is sorely needed as Europe seeks to escape from austerity". And "the French president is a shining example of the centre-left showing leadership and hope in Europe". How did that work out ?

Ramirez, his first season, how good has he been?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
Had redknapp signed him for qpr for 12 million we'd be pizzing our pants. What a mug old harry is throwing £12 million at him. I haven't a clue whether him or his mrs are happy, but to me he gives the apperance of someone who is not . Maybe he'll come good maybe he won't, Tim vicerory said he wouldn't make it in the pl and he knows a bit more about south American football than most. If NC sells him this summer and gets his money back, I won't be bothered in the slightest. -
I paid for my nippers on my debit card and it shows online in his transactions. I paid for mine via Zebra and it doesn't show online yet. I'm going to keep checking back and then call them next week if it still doesn't show as paid.
