  1. Are they the same ones who are getting fed up with the media going on about how good we are at the moment?
  2. Actually, it's very interesting to do a thread search on the word Morgan, loads of threads pop up from the last four years, so it's very easy to find out what opinions were being given. The overwhelming opinion in league on shown on this board was that Morgan was easily our most talented midfielder, but was being too inconsistent. It's repeated on thread after thread. On all of the threads I read through, the closest I came to finding the legendary cohorts of fans wanting him shipped out were somebody saying he should be dropped to the bench and ONE poster, somebody called "crowds" (?) who thought we should get rid. I recommend looking back, it's interesting to see the progress he's made and it gives you a bit of perspective on the comments telling us that so many thought he wasn't as good as Hammond or wotton. He was always very popular, even when he was underperforming.
  3. A cohort eh? That's far more convincing. With kelvin and top 6 it was always a "brigade". Like I say, I remember comments, but they all just said he wasn't tough enough, which he probably wasn't, I assume that's why he bulked up a bit. The calls to have him shipped out were either a tiny minority or fictional, that's usually the pattern here. I remember you were one of those going on about how deluded this board was saying we'd finish top 6. Two people amid a huge majority saying otherwise. You need to calm down and get a little perspective. Mind you if it is a "cohort" I'm pretty sue you'll find evidence of at least ten posters saying it to back you up, go ahead.
  4. I'm willing to guess this is a bit like that thing of "everyone on here said we would finish top 6"' then the thread was resurrected and it turned out two people said top 6 and about thirty said mid table. Also the idiots saying "everybody on here thought kelvin should play for England"' then the thread was brought back and it was clearly an ironic comment from the OP and not one person on the resulting thread thought Kelvin should play for England. now we're getting the comments about people on here saying Morgan wasn't good enough and Hammond was better. Forgive me if I assume that once again this was an opinion held by about two posters and that you're having yet another knee jerk reaction against a minority opinion. I remember posts saying Morgan wasn't performing well enough and needed to toughen up a bit in league one, I'd say tha was fair enough and he clearly did toughen up and his game changed significantly as he filled out a bit. I don't remember any groundswell of opinion that Hammond was the better long term bet.
  5. Alpine, are you saying that no matter how strong they prove themselves to be, no matter what their results on the pitch in recent years, Belgium and Switzerland shouldn't be allowed to be seeded, because they don't have the history of Italy and the Netherlands? Conversely that no matter how poor their team is at the moment, that Italy and the Netherlands should have an automatic right to be seeded? That sounds ridiculous. They are both very strong teams, seeded on merit. The seeding for this is along similar grounds to most sporting competitions. What I don't agree with is friendly matches influencing world rankings. It seems to me the idea of a friendly is that it should have no direct competitive consequences. I don't really care whether England are seeded or not. Actually, on a selfish level, I'd love to see England in a group with three of the best teams. That would be the best world cup imaginable for me. Obviously that wouldn't be much fun in other parts of the draw though.
  6. I know he's not in the reckoning at all, but I really see Clyne as the saints player that England most need at the moment. LB is Baines for the next few years, but there is no stand out RB at the moment. I think Clyne could do a great job. Lambert? I love the bloke, but I really don't think it'll happen. As others have said, we can't even be sure he'll be our first choice by next summer.
  7. I seem to hear this a lot, obviously never from saints fans, but for some reason a lot of outsiders put RL into that category. I've never seen anything to justify it at all. He's an intelligent forward who pulls the strings for most of our attacking play. He's super fit and quite often shows skillful, neat touches, but it's become a default comment by lots of other fans, even those who like him, that he's a bit of a lump. To me that means a slower, less skillful forward who is able to barge his way through and get on the end of crosses etc and mostly uses brute force to get the ball into the net, contributing little to build up play. That's not Lambert at all. Has he just got the wrong sort of face? Seriously?
  8. Nice to see you again Ponty, any chance of you popping over for a visit to catch up?
  9. Did you think so? I thought Sturridge was okay, but I thought there was no understanding between any of our forwards at all, which was a surprise as Wellbeck and Rooney ought to know how to work together.
  10. Do any of our forwards have any kind of first touch at all?
  11. We've had it in their half for most of the match, yet I'd actually forgotten Rooney was playing.
  12. I always hear about Firefly, but I tried watching the first couple of episodes and to me it just seemed like a bog standard western, dressed up as sci-fi. I'd heard similar praise for Arrested Development as a comedy, but, although it's decent enough, I don't find anything outstanding about it. Neither program really distinguishes itself in my opinion, but both are fine if there's nothing better to watch. Mind you, I got bored of breaking bad after a couple of seasons, so my opinion may not match the majority. I've never watched Dexter, because I'd heard about it going downhill before I could see it, which kind of put me off. I've got that and Prison Break as possibilities on netflix and I'll probably get around to the sooner or later.
  13. Am I the only one who thinks Ramirez' "laziness" is starting to get a bit exaggerated at the moment? i may not get to see him in the flesh as often as many on here, but when I've seen him on Telly He doesn't seem that lazy. Not a workhorse, but not as bad as he's being painted in his absence. If he's not being picked for whatever reason, I'm sure he'll be keen to move on. I think he's a very good player, but if MP doesn't find a place for him in his plans, what's the point?
  14. Oh yeah, Prison Break is on there too, so you can watch all of that for free.
  15. The Wire is the absolute best there is. Entourage House of Cards 24 is fantastic as a box set if you haven't seen it before. Netflix is a quicker, cheaper alternative to buying box sets nowadays, sign up for a free month and you could watch all of Dexter, 24, Arrested Development and House of Cards instantly without even paying a penny. Even when you pay, it's very cheap.
  16. It's political correctness gone mad isn't it Jamie?
  17. But only 4th crappest town.
  18. Does being born in the Channel Islands count as being born in England?
  19. Hi everyone, just looking for some opinions about how good this game actually is. I haven't played many console games in the last ten years, in fact the last time I got involved was to but a ps2 and GTA San Andreas, which was about the only game I ever got for it. My my wife is away a lot on business lately and I have evenings to kill, so I'm wondering if it's worth buying a ps3 and GTA 5 package. I'll never be an up to date, regular gamer again, so I don't care if the ps4 is coming. I just wonder if GTA 5 is enough of a reason to buy a console, I'll probably only ever have about two games. Now the hype is wearing off, how good is it?
  20. I've been trying to find a decent show to get into lately and have had a few hits and misses on Netflix, House of Cards is excellent, but the whole show rests entirely on the presence of Kevin Spacey. It's gripping and involving, but well made enough to have you supporting the main guy even when his aims are the absolute polar opposite to your own beliefs. 8 out of ten Luther, I'd heard a lot about this, but I gave up on it after a few episodes. It seemed to just be getting nasty and not in the clever way it seemed to believe it was. I just wasn't getting any tension from it. 6 out of ten Broen (the bridge)' this is a Danish/Swedish crime thriller and it's possibly the best thing I've seen since the wire. The main detective is one of the most original and interesting in years. This one is dark and clever. 9 out of ten Orange is the new black. This is to be avoided. It's basically a cross between Ally McBeal and Prisoner Cell Block H, and not in a good way. 3 out of ten Archer, why hadn't I heard of this? There are about four series of it and it's consistently brilliant. It's an oddly animated spoof spy series with loads of running jokes. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was hilarious. 8 out of ten
  21. Good post, a good point well made. Fox is no worse than Hammond and Harding. What do people want from him? Should he demand not to be played? It's surely the manager's job to improve the team, it's the players job to perform to the best of his ability. if you don't think Fox is good enough, blame MP for keeping him being our second choice LB.

    Top Four

Why not wait until the end of the season, then you'll definitely be safe.
  23. And so with the arrival of the usual suspects, the thread descends to petty name calling and snide insults...
  24. You'd have to question the dedication of any professional athlete who smokes. There's a strong suggestion there of not really caring about keeping in prime condition. To me it says their heart's not really in it and that they lack a certain strength of character. Going on about Zidane reminds me of people going on about Sheringham every time playing until you're in your late thirties is discussed. We mention these people because they stand out as unusual and don't represent how you should expect things to be.
