  1. I didn't see him before he signed for us, so Osvaldo still has to prove his end product for me. I also think it's a problem that after more than a year, Jrod still hasn't really proven himself good enough. With both JRod and Lallana currently underwhelming, Osvaldo yet to convert any of our attacking play into a goal and Wanyama not yet improving a midfield that we were very happy with last season, it's a disappointing start, despite our points tally being an improvement. The reason for our better points tally seems to only be the defence and keeper. Like most on here, I'm enough of a know-it-all to point out our problems, but not enough of a know-it-all to give the solutions, except I think we looked better with Cork in midfield. I also think we should have kept Puncheon because he always shook things up a bit coming on as a late sub. Lambert or Osvaldo? Well, Lambert has already shown he can do it for us... Osvaldo looks quality, but so did Ramirez early last season and the shine seemed to wear off after a couple of months.
  2. Wanyama has been okay, but not especially better than Cork. Rodriguez still has yet to prove himself after a year in the team. Lallana can't take a corner. Last year Cork returning to the side was a turning point, here's hoping. For what it's worth I only saw the second half today and in isolation, it was good football from us. Sounds like it was just as we'll I missed the first half.
  3. I always thought the Newcastle MLT one was his best, until I saw on some program Tim Flowers saying that, just before kick off for the Blackburn game, he hung a towel up in the back of the net. MLT came over and told him he would hit that target the first chance he got. It sort of makes the distance of the shot even more unbelievable when you bear that in mind and watch it again. He strikes it perfectly.
  4. When put into context, which MLG has just done quite well, it's a bit of a nothing statement. I'd say his response was pretty much in line with what most on here have always said: our main aim is just to improve, in theory CL may one day be possible, but it's not really something the team are thinking about now. i don't see why Barry and Kraken are getting upset about this, it seems a pretty rational and sensible response to the question. What do you think he should have said? That we will never, ever aspire to that level? That would have been far sillier than what he actually said. I'd say that MLG's reasonable responses to questions on this thread contrast sharply with childish, condescending nuggets like: and This thread is about the Wanyama article. Wanyama didn't predict anything about this season and he didn't say anything to cringe at. In fact he said to concentrate on doing things "step by step" and concentrate on gradual improvement from last season, exactly what the realists have been saying all along.
  5. Eh? Care to show me some of the other posts you're talking about? I think I replied to you once about two or three months ago, after which you changed your avatar to reference Norway and referenced my post on about three other threads I wasn't even on, but yeah, I guess I must be following you around.
  6. Pretty sure that's not real. I've been hearing jokes based around that since the eighties.
  7. This sums up the whole idea of people showing off about IQs pretty well:
  8. I remember that match pretty well, one of the couple of games Killer managed to complete on his failed comeback, he was a shadow of his former self. Surman was at left back. Was that the season we stopped playing Stern John because we couldn't afford to play him and pay his bonuses? He'd scored loads the previous season, I think he went out on loan in the end. A rare Lee Holmes start as well. We all thought Gillett was going to be decent at the time, that season was a good example of how not to use the academy, introduce kids to a side in tatters and expect them to take on the responsibility of turning it around. It was a very poor team, the experienced players were mostly past it (Killer, Perry, Wotton) and the youngsters either weren't up to it yet (Morgan, Dyer, Lallana) or never would be (Holmes, White, McGoldrick, Gillett). Surman was our star at the time and he was out of position.
  9. I'd hard that before as we'll, but it either seems to be a myth or it's outdated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
  10. According to Columbia University's Earth Institute Denmark is the happiest place to be. Not too surprising, going on the "Danish boat" is considered the default party trip over here. The big surprise was that Austria is the world's 8th happiest country, I mean, remove certain choice individuals dragging the average down and they would surely shoot up the list. The UK came in 22nd happiest of 156 countries, so perhaps the "happy clappers" aren't the majority some make them out to be, but it's always nice to beat Germany(26th) at something. I wonder if there's a good German word for being pleased at somebody else's lack of happiness. http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/09/business/earth-institute-world-happiness-rankings/index.html (Yes, I know none of it really means much) Do you consider yourself happy and does living in whatever country you live in make much of a difference?
  11. JRod has 6 goals in 37 starts for saints, Billy Sharp has 9 in 17 according to wiki. In fact he's had a far better scoring record throughout his career than JRod. I've never understood why it's been decided Sharp isn't good enough for the PL, yet JRod seems to be considered PL quality. I'm not saying JRod isn't good enough, or that Sharp is, just that I've never understood JRod being a regular starter and Sharp not getting a sniff.
  12. That article backs up what I said. "The" Ukraine is incorrect.
  13. Why do they keep saying "the" Ukraine? Isn't that like saying the England? It's just called Ukraine. Stupid ****s.
  14. I find it a bit odd that players like Oakley, Marsden, Fernandes,, Steve Wiliams (!) and Mark Dennis are cropping up here. All very popular players in their time. I'm waiting for somebody to say MLT now.
  15. It's a matter of opinion, hypochondriac. I would give it a 5, you would rate it higher. There isn't a right or wrong answer.
  16. The first series was pretty good and kept you guessing with plenty of shock revelations and cliffhangers, the second series was so bad that I have no plans to watch the upcoming third series at all. I'd say it dropped from an 8 out of ten to a five out of ten. I especially got sick of Clare Danes constantly over acting with her eyes. I really don't think the show really had the potential for more than one series with those characters and they should've just left it there.
  17. That was earlier this summer, cost about 500,000 pounds to sort out.
  18. Oh, okay, my mistake.
  19. I'm not commenting on the rest of the issue, but that comment shows quite a lot of ignorance in the scientific field. Nature isn't just some magazine, it's right at the top of its field as one of the very best and most prestigious scientific journals in the world. It's rating is far above its peers. All scientists dream of doing research that stands up to the intense scrutiny needed to be published. They maintain only the highest level of research and the checking is incredibly stringent. You can't just come up wit some theory and get it in there. If it's made it into Nature, an article has the highest level of credibility. The rest of this issue I'm happy to claim ignorance of.
  20. Are these the famous posts where everybody was saying we'd finish top 6 and above Arsenal and liverpool? Whoever keeps saying that was a widely held opinion is utterly delusional.
  21. We took off Morgan and Lallana.
  22. This link has been very good for me today, excellent picture, almost no freezes (two, for about five seconds each) and proper commentary. http://livesport4u.com/stream2.html
  23. Don't be a silly boy, barry.
  24. Well now you've gone and done it. You do realise that later in the season when Cork's playing well, Turkish or his bestest mate will post about how "at the start of the season everyone on here was saying that we should sell Cork".
  25. I think for the role he plays, we would struggle to find many better players without spending silly money. His presence has always improved the performance of the team. He was the only ever present when we dominated the Championship and his return last year coincided with the end of our run of defeats. He's an excellent player and is very unlucky to have lost his starting place. During the season he'll get chances to win it back or at least prove himself indispensable. He's only being held out by Morgan's reputation, Wanyama's impact and unexpected heroics from JWP. It's a sign og genuine strengthening that he's really not just a squad player. We can make a midfield substitution without the quality in our excellent midfield dropping, few clubs outside the top six can do that.
